The preachers in the video definitely missed the point of 1 John 2. Christians still have the ability to sin, and most likely will trip up every now and then. But in Christ we have not only a redeemer, but an Advocate that supports us before God. When we confess our sins we are forgiven. God's call isn't one of conformation to sinless perfection, but one of "you have hope in Christ".

Humanity creates symbols to enhance a relationship (i.e., the cross is a man-made symbol that brings many closer to G-d). But, humanity did not design G-d. I think the idea that murders, rape, slavery, and genocide can simply be wiped away by believing in Jesus is dangerous to humanity. They can’t persuade someone to change their behavior with logical discourse, because they can’t reasonably support their position. It's not a message we actively spread, because here we see that as a normal human quality. Only where there are places of hate does the hate need opposition. There is some truth to what you are saying about religion; but, it depends on your definition of "religion". Humanity creates symbols to enhance a relationship (i.e., the cross is a man-made symbol that brings many closer to G-d). But, humanity did not design G-d. G-d designed humanity with the intent that we should have a relationship with G-d. And, by the way, one symbol was designed by G-d, the menorah. Shalom and thanks for the comments.
