whats everone thinking for this upcoming tour without the big man? I'm thinkin his nephew jake plays sax. If you havent heard the version of drive all night Jake does with glen hansard and eddie vedder check it out.
As far as I am concerned there has never been and never will be anything to compare in live popular music to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. I have been fortunate enough to see them 12 times since 1985 and what a joy it has been. Jungleland is an awesome song amongst many awesome songs in Springsteen's unequalled body of work over an incredible 40 year period.
I had the privilege of seeing this performed live when they closed Meadowlands in 2008. They played the entire Born To Run album and let me tell you, I will never forget the moment when Clarence began his sax solo. The place became absolutely silent and the saxophone echoed through the entire stadium.
With out a doubt the greatest song/video on youtube. During the sax solo I had a spiritual moment. Bruce and the whole E street band were all in the highest form during this concert. Rock and Roll does not get any better then this.
@BrambleBerry2011 No, the Big Man passed away in june due to complications from a stroke. I'll never forget that I was driving along a lake at sunset, listening to this same sax solo on the day it happened.
When I was a 9 year old kid way back in '75, long before I knew who the Boss was, in the record shops I noticed the the cover of the Born to Run album... the name on the album said "Bruce Springsteen", but there were two men there in the photograph - I remember always wondering why there was no second name... the Big Man has always been imprinted on the minds-eye ever since.
teardrops on the city tonight. RIP big man and thanks for the music. The E Street band was my growing up and Scooter and the Big Man just made it all rock. From Thunder Road to Jungle Land i thank you Clarence, i will miss you and will think of you when your notes fill the air and my ears.i write with tears in my heart that i will never hear you again live but am thankful for all the times i did. thank you .Play on Sir. Play on. goodbye Clarence
My hero from schol days - Bruce Springsteen - Jungleland - this is a very crafted and rousing track - watch it till the end folks - I saw him at Earls Court - just magic
I have always thought this is one of the best sax solos I have ever heard in my life. You were and/are a substantial part of this band. Bruces second hand man next to one of the top lead guitarists Stevie as well. Thank you for your talent.
200 years from now, when someone wonders what rock and roll was, they should be given this to listen to. Love seeing Clarence gather himself before his big solo.
Massive! that is what the E street band is. they radiate raw power, and play songs that have such a huge presence, like Jungleland and Badlands. Born to run is not as huge as these, but the sheer speed and roar of the engine at work as it blazes across the stage makes it truly their best song.
Definitely one of my favorite Springsteen songs. I agree, I do believe this is one of the best live versions I have ever heard. The E Street band compliments Springsteen's music probably as good as any band for any musician ... ever.
I saw 2 shows during the reunion tour (2000). I saw the March 31st Denver and the May 8th Hartford show. Springsteen performed Jungleland during the Denver show but did not for the Hartford show. However, he did Roulette at Hartford (also one of my favorites).
Bruce as his nick name says is " The Boss" no questions asked, I can't believe it's been a year but I went to his two concerts in Manfield, Ma and they were uterally amazing everyone was dancing and was jolly and we didn't even get to see "Jungleland" and honestly we didn't care it still is a life lasting memory!
Now in stores; Bruce and the E. Street Band = "London Calling, Live from Hyde Park" it totally ROCKS!!!!!!!! 3 hours of Bruce in front of about 500,000 or so people. Check it out.
the amazing thing is,within 15 seconds of finishing the song,he's starting the next one. He could easily have milked that performance for minutes if he had wanted to.
@zolaarmy I love the way that Bruce plays, he keeps people up out of their seats, and it's amazing, i went to my first concert of his in November, in Detroit with the E-Street Band, and I was smiling the entire time because he was so amazing. He never takes breaks in between songs. It's sad that that tour may have been his last with the band though...
@EGM52 With the old comment about posting an HD version once reaching a certain number of subscribers/hits, it appears as if this is still the old version. Hey, no biggy, it's the balls either way! Thanx for posting it!!!

Don't forget Danny Federici, as he's the only one who can no longer show his skills. The E Street Band are a bunch of talented musicians and we can only be grateful they have no ego's and play together without any issues in between them.
@Curunirvana Danny was a brilliant player, may he rest in peace. He was one of the true veterans of the e street band - like clarence and gary, he was there on that fateful recording in 1972, when the legend was born.

however, i have to say, there is no way patti scialfa would get to join in on this piece of magic if she wasnt sleeping with the boss. i would call her contribution 'minimal'.
Saw this live, shortly before Dani died, my grandpa is a huge fan and used to hang with Bruce on the Shore before he was a big deal, and when I saw this Clarence was amazing, sooooo good.

Wow what run at 9:08. Professor Roy Bittan is awesome. Really awesome. Probably my favourite piano player. The last 10 minutes were breath-taking!

Little Steven's guitar solo in this is absolutely epic. If you do not like this song you have absolutely not taste in music. Long live the Boss.
