Did you know he was also incredibly skilled at mimicking other violinists' sound on his violin? He fooled Fritz Kriesler into thinking it was one of Kriesler's records playing....
To put to rest the myth that's circulating around the internet, Heifetz probably never heard such an audition. Heifetz was well known for doing such parodies for his friends and students, saying that such a performance that he had to suffer through. He would stand there, solemn and stone-faced and perform the most awful, scratchy out-of-tune music, mimicking the sound that beginners often got.
The greatest thing about this is that he actually demonstrates every possible technical problem anyone who studies a piece like this might have. That must have taken an awfull lot of preparation.
@jonathancaramin Isnt it funny that heifetz tried to play the octaves out of tune? but only ended up playing it in poor synchronization with his left hand? lolol
His face is like "What are you laughing about?!" I love this man!

Our problem -- we have to try very hard to play good.
Heifetz's problem (after decades of practice, performance and experience) -- he must meticulously prepare hard to play badly. XD
