You'll notice in my current videos that I've switched to the M&P for Production and IDPA duties. I prefer it to the Glock on ergonomics and how it handles in recoil. The full-lefty controls are just gravy. It's nice not shifting my grip AT ALL to perform a reload using my thumb on the levers.
That's a nice glock but I would like to know why you call it USPSA -- Universal Service Pistol Semi Automatic? But glock models go by number. I mean all of them are semi automatic pistols... Except maybe the G18 and G40. So what model is yours? I know that USP isn't a trademark of H&K but it seems like the only gun people refer to as USP.
@SpitRhyma ... I refinished the slide myself. Masked, media blasted, and refinished in Duracoat (2 coats Titanium, 2 coats matte clear) and reinstalled the sights.
I'll take posting a video as an invitation for constructive input --
1) When you are waiting for the "contact" signal, stand in a more relaxed pose (because in life threats will come as a surprise, or the weapon will already be drawn.
2) Try to have you non-dom hand on your stomach solidly as you draw, it is a sad fact that under stress, if your hand is too low on you, or not on you firmly, your hand can drift in front of the muzzle when you go to grip the weapon. This equals hole in hand.
Nice drills, I'll try this tomorrow before my GF gets home from work! This is a great way to get some practice with the ranges and angles of your home, never know when it might come in handy...
It's a Glock 34. I refinished the slide with Titanium Duracoat.
Look for my video with my new toy: A KSC Glock 17 airsoft. It's much more entertaining to practice with than dry-fire. (look under "more videos from this user")
Wow, nice work, great technique. Are you using your middle finger of your left hand on the mag release?? Is that the finger you use on mag changes also? Lefties unite!!
GREAT pistol handling; HORRIBLE tactics. you DON'T EVER want to expose yourself in an open doorway and stand there like a big dork waiting to get shot. if i'm the perp, where do you think I THINK you're going to be coming from - MARS? No - you're coming thru the door and if you stay there, i'm going to shoot you. Research some better tactics, PLEASE. Again, I am impressed with your pistol handling; nice job!
Silly me; I just assumed that if you're practicing in a house, your practicing entries or home defense and if you're practicing for range competition, that you would include an element of shooting while moving. My bad.
question. i'm dry firing with an airsoft on a target. im pulling, aiming and then checking if i got sights aligned on the target wich i oftenly have. just want to know if this is a good method?
Are you defining 'aiming' as indexing the gun on the target without the sights?
If so, stop that.
On very close targets, you may be focused on the targets while looking through the sights, but the sight picture should still be in your line of sight, unless you're trying to point-shoot for some reason.
The purpose of a dryfire draw is to ingrain the ability to go from holster to a clean sight picture on the A-zone of the first target ASAP.
i have actualy had small arms training in the finnish special ops. for all close targets point shoot. and for longer distance line your sights but you need to do that quicly. and be sure to have a good grip caus it will make aiming easier AND you can engaige the next target fast and still accuratly.
nice stuff, man. what gun are you using? 1911? are you engaging and disengaging the safety when you unholster and holster your firearm for competition?
Cool im gping to do this!

This has nothing to do with a gunfight it is for competition :(
chbrun34 2 weeks ago
Do try to practice without a buzzer as well. In a gunfight, waiting on a buzzer will get you killed. :)

Where did you get your slide work done?
SpitRhyma 1 year ago
@SpitRhyma USPSA is an acronym for the United States Practical Shooting Association. They hold the matches that he is practicing for.

@SpitRhyma
You missed the other one, and this one too. Visit USPSA's website. It is not any sort of designation for the pistol.
(Practicing for this type of competition is the purpose of that dryfire trick you arrogantly dismissed as 'beginner level').

I do something similar a few times a month. And run around in the front yard with the M4 and Shotgun

thats good practice, if you had to defend your house you would have some forethought about how to.

And by the way, those are glorious reloads! Textbook.
jmangle 2 years ago
Excellent advice on both counts, but I'm practicing for competition, not real life shootouts. Trying to shave tenths off here and there.
Thanks for the compliment on the reloads. :-)

Hmm... I had never heard anyone call it "the contact signal" before.

Dude super mechanics, check out Todd Jarett's reloads, try to keep the muzzle forward instead of breaking muzzle discipline.
Like I said, super clean mechanics dude, makes me glad I shoot CDP / Single Stack / 1911 so I'm not up against you :)

Ring finger on the mag release to drop the mag.
Trigger finger resting above the slide stop to drop the slide on a slide-lock reload. (Requires an extended slide release).

What makes you think I'm practicing for a gun battle?
Pistol shooting is also a sport, and your enemy is a timer.
