  • that's not midwestern. . . -__-

  • I'm from St. Louis and we have a much milder, but still very obvious, wiscaaaaahnsin accent.

  • You know what I've noticed? People who are not native Minnesotan cannot do our accent. Just like no body can do Australian accents.

  • no, they're NAWWT. Remind me never to go to the Midwest...

  • omg, this is hot and very funny at the same time

  • Lol @ some comment below me. Totally not fargo accent. That's where I'm from. It's a rural Minnesota accent.

  • lol dis is mEYE too doo list

  • I'm from Wi and you sound like your from Fargo N.D.

  • hahah

  • I am born and raised in MN, but people think I am a transplant from the southern US. More to the point is the accent you are referring to here is rural Minnesotan. People that have lived in the urban areas do not sound like this at all-- well a vast majority at least.

  • Wisconson kids have stronger accents than minnesota kids but then again im from minneapolis and never kicked it up north.

  • I always find this weird. I have friends from all over the country, and they all have pronounced accents of some flavor or another, but when I've asked for comments on mine, it's always "you have the same accent as they use on TV"

I'm from Ann Arbor, MI. I am aware of the "stereotypical" Michigan accents, but here, most people use the "standard" english that has infected every television program.

Maybe it has to do with being a big college town, so everyone speaks neutrally (???) Who knows.

  • def more like a minnesota accent! we dont talk like that in wiscosin

  • HAH! Bullshit!

  • Minnesota/Wisconsin have pretty similar accents and you guys did a decent impersonation of how 45 year old women talk here in 'Sconsie. Stereotypically its true that Wisconsin as a state has a drinking problem and we definitely talk funny. I catch myself saying stuff like "ya kno?" and my use of the word "or" has permanently been changed to "er". Just dont make fun of me for the way that I say "Wisconsin" and when i ask where a "bubbler" is (and noone knows wtf im talking about)

  • LOL! bubbler = water fountain, yes?

  • That's like Yupper accent or Minnesota GOD lmao Has anyone seen Fargo?

  • ha this is how i am i can talk in like 7 or 8 differant accents, one of them being midwest, and ive live in California my whole life

  • sounds like minnesota or a rrreeeeaaallllyyy strong michigan accent.

  • @Kelsie154 maybe really strong yooper, I don't know as much about the accent up there, but I'm from southern michigan and we don't speak like this at all

  • I'm from Wisconsin, and went to school in Minnesota. Blast from the bast, Joy, thanks :-)

Thanks for subscribing to my channel, too!

    Trav

  • haha anytime. my roommates in college were very silly. i work w/eric @ b&n and he's always telling me about your guys' videos. i love the mac vs. pc ones

  • I tink the Minny and Sconnie accents are a horse a piece. I'm originally from north central WI and now I live in Milwaukee. It seems as though people in Killwaukee don't speak with an accent but dey do up nort der guy.

  • I'm from Minnesota, and I hear it all over the place once you get out of the Twin Cities...even in myself!!!

  • Well, I'm from Minnesota, and I can name a whole bunch of places where people still talk like this. They're not spot on, being from the west coast and all, but they're pretty close to what you might find in places like Alexandria, Brainerd, and basically from St. Cloud all the way up to Roseau. It's not everyone, but you don't have to look real hard, either.

  • Do people in Colorado have an accent like that??? I was born in Boulder, you see. And I think my dad had a midwestern accent. I never hung out with him much because of my parents' divorce...

  • I am from Wisconsin and I haven't heard anyone talk like that every! and I have been all over the state.

  • i live in a small wisconsin town and the only place i've heard an accent like that is on that 70s show.

  • fuckin funny as hell!

  • I live in the midwest. We do not sound like that. Definately a Northern accent.

  • Yeah thats a Minnesota accent, not Wisconsin.

  • It disgusts me how people actually believe we talk like this. Its completely ridiculous! We aren't stupid. Actually, Iowa has the most collage graduates. So you should be talking. You fat, lazy kids. Go ahead, give me thumbs down. At least I made my point.

  • From where I'm from in Wisconsin NO ONE talks like that. I haven't heard anyone talk like that except on movies and youtube.

  • Well, im from Smalltown northeast WI and yeah...some people talk like that, its not a common thing. Noone cares when someone throws out a "dontcha kno?" or a "up der" or "down der" or even, my favorite, "eh?". Were not as notorious as Canadians but were in the north. Big city WI is totally normal, perhaps having the most mild accent of the whole country.

Southern people, now that is noticable.

Same with big city east coast accents (NYC,Bos)

  • i live in northern illinois so maybe this is an accent from even more northern but doesnt sound like anyone talk around here

  • haha sarah palin voice contest

  • I grew up in central Minnesota and I've lived in Fargo North Dakota for seven years now and I have never once heard a single person talk anywhere near this bad... EVER. It's a fucking myth, it's not a Minnesota or Wisconsin accent, it's a Canadian accent. At least give credit where credit is due.

I've also never heard anyone say "Ya you betcha" ever, except in reference to the movie "Fargo", which actual people from Fargo think is ridiculous.

  • That's definitely Minnesota. I'm from Missouri and we speak with your standard, non-regional, American speech patterns.

  • Not really fair to say "Midwestern". Canada, maybe. And Sone people in northern MI and WI too maybe.

I am from south eastern Wisconsin and nobody talks like that hear.

    Funny video though.

  • hahaha, love the accents! And the ppl commenting on this must have never been to northern Wisconsin cause they say you betcha all the time! and yeah hey, and don't cha know! Trust me, my family lives way up der and when ever we visit we always get going with our Wisconsin accents :P

  • sounds like a couple yoopers, im from michigan i think i would know lol

  • Epic. Faliure. I'm from small town western WI and we don't talk like that. I have never in my life heard or said you betcha.

  • thats because you... live in a small town in WI...

  • Minnesota accent.

  • Minnesota accent.

  • Yeah, i don't sound like this at all. I'm from Milwaukee

  • ya der, people from sconsin dont sound anything like us minsotans

  • We don't sound like that.. That's northern. And we don't say "you betcha" instead it's.. "you know it". And I live smack dab midwest. Illinios. Midlanderrrr. I do not sound like that..

  • its awful to say that some canadians sound like this :(

  • WHAT THE FUCK

  • yeah i've never heard anybody from wisconsin say you betcha or even dontcha know for that matter

  • WTF i have been to every midwestern state and live and wisconsin and have never heard or said "you betcha"

  • LMFAO "OH YOU BETCHA!"

  • Wisconsin dude right here...never once have I said "You betcha"!

  • WTF, Minnesotans are not fricking Canadians...

  • im from south dakota and its hilarious when minnesotans come visit us.

  • lmao...i dont talk like that but sometimes i got that 'Oooo' thing goin on dere ;D

  • That is so Minnesota! Oh my god! This made me laugh so hard.

  • yeah that is so true, i am from iowa and i notice that accent the most in minnesota and northa dakota but not as much in southern minnesota, but its def not a midwestern accent

  • People make fun of us because we say pop instead of soda

  • im from minnesota and it is about time someone recognize our sexy accents

  • Sounds Minnesota, I'm from MIchigan and ppl swear I'm from Minnesota.

  • I am from Wisconsin and that sounds Canadian or like Sarah Palin, and not like Wisconsinites.

  • exactally. we don't sound like that. But the vid still is pretty funny, even if they are bashing Wisonsin :-P

  • Oh Yah, Sure, Don'cha Know that we dont actually talk like that....... anyway i betta be gettin' back to ma she got cornmeal on the table and fresh bisquits in tha Uv-IN... y'all come back now ya herrr....

  • LOL dam if we really sound like dis i wonder y i'm not sayin shit like that LOL

dam i wanna speak like that LOL

  • wow we sound nothing like that haha!

  • haha i do NOT sound like that.

  • I live in Wisconsin, but to be honest. That sounds irish to me. xD

  • that sounds nothing like an Irish broagh, it is a Chicago accent

  • I say pop.I say doin not doing,When I say Minnesota or North Dakota I say soda not sota but it sounds just like sota or kota.I'm not even from Minnesota I'm from the midwest though. The Midwest accents kick ass.

  • this is shit

    we dont sound like this

  • That is not a midwestern accent, that is a northern.

  • WORST ACCENT EVER!!!!

  • hahaha wow... we dont sound like this.

  • to be midwestern you just have to end every sentence with "der" or respond to questions "oh ya"

  • Yooper for sure.

    Damn trolls

  • It's a little exaggertated, but I do talk like this sometimes. Mostly it is just the Yoopers that sound like that, but I'm from Southeastern WI and I kinda sound like that.

  • I actually do find this accent to be very sexy. I've been told that that's kinda weird.

  • it is kinda weird. i actually find it quite a headache. it isn't very soothing.

  • People from wisconsin don't sound like this unless you are from the far north. That's more of an upper pennisula Michigan accent. Yoopers talk like this. Not people from wisconsin.

  • I never knew there was such thing as a Wisconsin accent until I visited my family out in Boston and they told me I had it "wicked bahd." Like they should talk about accents...

  • Yeah, movies like Drop Dead Gorgeous and Fargo are spoofs. I have never met anyone in Minnesota who sounds like that. Maybe if you drive 8 hours north of the Twin Cities in the middle of nowhere.

  • Definitly not Iowan. WISCONSIN? Hmm...

  • Minnesnowta is the viking state.

  • That was awesome!

  • I agree. 5/5. :)

  • Hey im from Minnesota and i dont think i have an accent

  • Ocassionally I'll find a random old person who speaks like this (not as hyperbolized), but other than that the stereotypical accent is quite a myth.

  • east coast accents are awesome

  • Ha, bullshit. My brother in law lives in Sconi and he has a worse accent then I've EVER heard than anyone in minnesoooooooota.

  • Stupid people. Just because we say doncha know and okie dokie all the time doesn't mean it's bad. We love our accents and they are not that thick! Canadians talk way different then us. You people don't know anything!

  • Don't say Midwest because anyone south of Minnesoooootah, North Dakooooootah, and Wiscansin don't have that same dialect at all.

  • Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska have very soft neutral accents

  • lol... i'm from Minnesota and I do have to agree with you in most part but I don't think North Dakotaaaaahhhh has nearly as bad of an accent as most Minnesotans or people from Wisconsin.

  • The only people who talk like that are people in there 50s. Im from Minasoata

  • why do you pronounce ''bottom'' as battom?

  • She sounds like Lorraine on Mad TV lol

  • Minnesotans have a way thicker accent than any Canadians I've ever met.

  • Blame Canada...

  • hahah donchaknow?

  • Kinda Canadian-ish

  • I can't say I've heard anyone from this state speak like this. Commendable effort?

  • You betcha!

  • ha a woman moved here (eastern PA) from Minnesota and sounded just like this. hehe

  • I was born and raised in Minneapolis, and (most) people in the cities and Southern Minnesota don't speak that way, but the farther north you go you DEFINETLY hear this accent, although not usually with people younger than 40. This is amazing, your accent is PERFECT, I've totally heard people waaay Up North speak with that strong of an accent.

  • Uff da!

  • HAHAHAHAHA

  • that's more accurate than fargo/north dakota minnesota version

  • omg amazing!!!

that is so how we sound especially up north

  • are you guys kidding me? rural minnesota, ottertail county, we all sound like that.

that was slightly exaggerated, but close

  • Amazing. I want to travel there. :-)

  • no you dont ottertail is boring go to cross or crow wing counties for some good fun.

  • Wow if your going to pretend to be a Minnesotan and not use the word uffda once then don't even bother...

  • ...minnesota is not any thing like that but lol i gusse u guys can try to be like us u wil never be as good as us

  • wow ur jealous

    m-i-n-n-e-s-o-t-a

  • I know we have an accent but i have never heard anyone talk like that and I have NEVER heard the phrase "you Betcha" except for when we are being smart alecs so I dont know what your basing this off...

  • I know, we only say "eh" and "you betcha" when we're joking about our accent too. Some people do it around here though.

  • I get laughed at for my accent..w/e

  • Not even close to a Minnesota accent. But fun to watch

  • see.. sadly.. i live in the midwest..and dont have an accent (iowa).... but.. it would be exciting if i did

  • it's all about your o's and using "eh" ;)

  • Like everyone in the world, we all have accents, but Minnesotan accents aren't like that, not even up north, until u almost hit Canada

  • I moved to Minneapolis MN 2 years ago and of course there is an accent. Although I must say the further north you go the stronger it is. Everyone has accents, its nothing to be ashamed of. I just dont get why everyone denies it.

  • I moved to Minnesota (Minneapolis) 2 years ago and I have to say that yes people here do have an accent but as you would think, the further north you go the stronger the accent is. Every place has an accent so people stop saying you don't have an accent!

  • For the record, I was born in Minnesota, and yes some do talk like that. It all has to do with how small of a town you're from. But the Yooper accent from Northern Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula of Michigan is WAY better.

  • we dont talk like that at all especially from minnesota..and we talk the same as canadians and they dont talk like that at all

  • You guys are soo dumb...WE DON'T TALK LIKE THAT...GOSH! HAHAHA...But this was soo funny to watch...lol...Trying to be Minnesotan doesn't work. Gotta be 100% Minnesotan like me!

  • we say some stuff weird, but not like Dont cha know

take a visit to the state of hockey BACHES

  • We don' talk like that.

  • that accent sounds more canadian...

  • ppl from minnesota dont talk like that at all!!!! i have never ever heard anyone say dont cha know. ok so shut up we talk normally

  • Canadians sure as hell don't talk like that either.

  • im from minnesota and nobody sounds like that... unless u go way up north by canada

  • Yes. Yes they do.

  • That was a bad. didnt sound minnesotan, besides they only talk like that in the very north part of minnesota by the border

  • Nobody from Minnesota talks like that, you guys are thinking more Canada I mean I dont say "eh" and stuff like that!!!

  • this is really fun, this chick sounds like she's from canada, FARGO, eh?

    lol, so funny it is!!!

  • hey there LeiaRose, Fargo is not in canada.

  • Haha ok yeah im from minnesota and no one says "you betcha!" or "dontcha know"

  • I live in Mn and I here "you betcha" all the time.

  • I'm a minnesota native and i love to ice fish drink beer and exagerate the "accent". very funny clip

  • lmao i love it!!!

  • lol i have an aunt who sounds like that lol i love it its so fun im trying to do it

  • ok, um...no one here talks like that. Just thought I'd let you know. (People from Minnesota do not have an accent...why can't people get that through their heads???)

  • So you're going to tell me with a a straight face that people from Minnesota sound no different than people from Kansas City, Wichita or Indianapolis.

I had a friend from Wisconsin who also thought she didn't have an accent, then she moved to Georgia, she knows they speak "Southern" down their, when she returned to Wisconsin and listened to her friends and family she finally realized that they really do have accents!

  • ...yes they do....they do very much so...listen to teachers talk...or adults...we all have them at least a little bit..some not as bad as that but some are worse i swear. dont deny it...its there, i hear it everyday. i'd say a good 90 percent of native minnesotans have an accent

  • dude, im a teacher, dont sound like that. though i do have an accent. Just like everyone else in america

  • Ok, WTH? No one talks like that except for people in movies set in Minnesota. People in Minnesota don't talk like that!

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

bobby's mom from bobby's world, for the win.

  • i'm from minnesota and i think that that's hilarious..but i don't talk like that. it's a bit too exagerated. i have said, 'ya you betcha' a few times =P

  • lol this is so funny! I love their accents!

  • Yeah, but this is a northern accent. I live in Iowa City, IA and nobody here talks like that.

  • ya, this sounds like an old person accent, not a minnesota accent

  • You fail at the Minnesoatan accent. No one speaks like that.

  • I used to live in MN (love it!) I still have a bit of an accent even though I only lived there for 3 years. Some people do talk that way, but it depends. Its not THAT exaggerated. The thing I hate is saying bag like 'baig' and bagel like 'baggel' xD.

  • I've met people from Minnesota who do talk like that.

  • I LIVE in MN my whole life and I met no one who talks like that.

  • This sounds like and exagerated version of my relatives from Minnesota dontcha know!

    Oh ja!

  • hopefully people realize that's not how we talk in minnesota/north dakota. apparently not but ok. i think it is fun to do that horribly exaggerated accent at times though. just cuz no one around here actually talks like that... it's sorta entertaining cuz we're basically making fun of the movies

  • no one fricken talks like that in minnesota unless they are old or live way north. HAHAHA not funny

  • this is so wrong...

  • i'd say... i don't think i've never heard anyone talk like that

  • lol sad. ur trying so hard and it's hilarious. i'm from mn so yeah.

  • It's like I'm watching a re-run of "Fargo," dontcha know?
