my family had one, 67 or 68, white w/paneling, red interior. Lots of road and camping trips. In the early 70's with my friends involved (we were maybe 10 or 11) we filled up the back storage area with the water hose...not sure what we were thinking. It drained out and all was good. That car was a tank.
my dad had one of these when i was growing up in north texas in the early 70s.A great wagon.Had a 390 and C6.Made alot of camping trips in it.I remember playing around in it as a kid and accidentally shifting it into reverse and out into the middle of the street, lol
Anybody know who arranged the music in this great ad? It smacks of the influence of Bob Thompson, the guy who came up with the "Go Go Go Goodyear and Save" jingle.
I have a '65 10 passenger Squire and it is a fun old car to drive. These are so rare now, you just don't see them around at all, however, I do remember how ubiquitous they were as a little kid in the late 60's and throughout the 70's. EVERYONE had them so I'm sure they were nearly as dreaded back in the day as the mini-van is today.
@skog63 Station wagons were worked to death, so few survive. I like them much better than the SUV of today, I prefer the lower and wider design. Ford had a lock on the wagon market for good reason, back then they made an excellent product.
Im tryin not to get emotional because this reminds me of growing up,my fam had a 1968 Country Squire & even tho i was born that year,i have fond memories of sitting in the back near the tailgate.Miss u Mom&Dad :(

We have gone backwards in car styling, design, and coolness, thanks to government intervention.

Great to see this old ad. Those old wagons were great. Looks like the concept of "stow and go" was invented long before the dreaded mini van.
This was a vehicle of substance. Thanks for finding and posting this old classic.
