  • He wrote it for his wife (Joan Morris). I have a recording of her performing it in a cabaret setting, so I guess that was its purpose.

  • Doesn't sound like the work of his that I know. What's it from?

  • Really!

  • William Bolcom? Really?

  • There were magazines given away or sold very cheaply in supermarkets which specialized in incredibly economical recipes for "lunchon treats" which also looked very pretty on the plate and used the least costly possible ingredients..It was all part of a June Allyson/Donna Reed/Perfect Homemaker syndrome that had women grocery shopping in high heels and petticoats -- and even hats! write me and I'll send you a collage from my autobiography, "Film Moi." rbrtptrck at aol

  • Oh, lord, I've so been there. I watched an intelligent sister drive herself half-mad trying to be just like the lady in the video.

  • @rbrtptrck I went to Washington and Lee U. in VA and once found a Hollins College (girl's college with a healthy mix of Yankees and Southern debs) alumni spiral bound cookbook filled with nothing but these recipes. Jello the major ingredient. Savory or sweet.

  • Bravo - I must run but a delish dish!
