Zelda OoT IS NOT overrated. That game changed my life, literally. I was some random kid who knows where. But now I am some random adult who played Zelda OoT!
I started watching this video and instantly I knew that Final Fantasy VII would be in the top 5 overrated category, but dammit all, that game deserves it.
Kingdom Hearts 358/2, Metal Arms Glitch in System and Majoras Mask (my favourite game, although the only reason its underrated is because it doesn't get the reputation it deserves) are the 3 most underrated games ever.
I've noticed that most of these underrated/overrated lists have a pattern, the underrated are way older than overrated. This shows that while the game may be underrated now, it more than likley was not during its time. Unreal had a huge fanbase, that fanbase turned into the Halo/Modern Warfare generation. Its an example of course, but its not underrated, its simply progress, and personally I'm for it. I am waiting for the day we can live in a video game momentarily, that over behind the paddle.

The stupid list of overrated games I've seen is one that put on DKC saying that lots of other games at the time had the features it had, and didn't bother to name any, and put the first Halo game on and only complaining about a receptive level while praising everything else.
I totally agree with all of the underrated choices and I can see how some of the overrated can be overrated but most if not all of the overrated games are popular, and for a good reason too.
I dont particularly think OoT was overrated...maybe slightly, but it was just too revolutionary to say it was in THAT overrated.
On the other side of things, I think Majora's Mask is incredibly UNDERRATED, because it came out at the end of the N64's lifetime, and not a lot of people played it as compared to OoT.
The Zelda series is packed with underrated games, since only a few of them get praised a lot when the series constantly proved successful, except for it's black sheep AoL and the CD-I games that Nintendo did not make.
GTA IV is not overrated, just look at it, its simply AWESOME, if its overrated show me a game that is underrated just as good as that, hearthbound its not underrated, everyone considers it an EPIC game
COD MW2 is not overrated at all...

@Charliem1994 SMB came out before doom, and SMB is another masterpiece, DOOM is another, if it wasn't DOOM no other 3D game would be like it is right now, also Metroid is not a FPS its a FPA, because a FPS is shoot and maybe strategy, and in a problem solving, linear levels and stuff like that makes it a FPA first person adventures

@Charliem1994 in 1993 when doom was released, it revolutionized graphics, it had 3D, big deal, there were already 3D games, but it had a level design that NOTHING had before, it wasn't just follow the line, you could explorate the whole map, every game after that inspired on it with 3D, of course other games made it look silly starting with Super Mario 64, but these games gotta give credit to it, to make them change to 3D, Doom, made all 2D games look silly, so they were "oblied" to change

Zelda Ocarina of Time is simply way too revolutionary, too awesome dude, you got to consider that by the time that game came video game players weren't used to those kind of games, so it not only was incredibly fun and well made but the game marqued a generation. Overrated? I don't think so, it is simply one of the best games ever made!! Don't take in consideration only the gameplay or only the game itself but the movement it created, most of the Zelda fans became fans because of that game!!

One thing I hate is how boring and filled with barren areas the overworld is, and another thing I hated was how the graphics and the gameplay were actually almost outdated even at the time. The only thing I will say the game perfected was the soundtrack. Ok game, but the most overrated game ever made IMO.
@blizard0717 LOZ OOT had almost no character development. No Zelda theme, some of the levels drug on to the point to where I no longer cared or remembered why I was at the dungeon, too many instances where the game will let you wander aimlessly without really knowing where you are supposed to go. One of my biggest complaints was not being able to shoot sword projectiles at full health. That was always one of my favorite things about Link.
@blizard0717 Link to the Past had an awesome back story about Hyrule. A really cool story about the Master Sword and how it came to be. I felt like there was a much stronger attachment to the characters because they spent more time on character development. Even minor characters such as the flute boy's ghost and the blacksmith dwarves were better developed than Shiek and the Owl in OOT.
The world in Link to the Past is very active and filled with monsters. Hyrule in OOT is mostly empty land.

I think that FFVii is overatted in the gameplay but have to say that the story was amazing due to one thing... Sepiroth, im not going to say he was 'badass' or anything like that but he had a very well constructed background story which is what sets him apart from other villians. Plus the music is not overatted apart from one winged angel, but cosmo canyon, the boss theme and so many others are some of the best

It was to be expected Final Fantasy 7 to be the most overrated game and it truly is. Even OoT has its reasons to be overrated because of its graphics, power-up library, dungeons, first game to have accurate aim and much more never before seen features. But Final Fantasy? What the fuck does that game have that no game had before? The story sucks by the way so that isn't an excuse.

I loved DK 64. Except for the part where you had to beat the DK arcade machine like five times to get to the final boss. That annoyed the heck out of me.
As much as I agree with the list, I think Underrated and Overrated are the second and third most annoying words on the internet in the category of mass misuse.

Kirby and DK 64 under-rated? not to sure about those. i find Beyond Good and Evil is far more under-rated than either of those two. and i think The Darkness is a far more under-rated FPS than Unreal 2004. But, thats just my own opinion.

@Charliem1994 in 1993 when doom was released, it revolutionized graphics, it had 3D, big deal, there were already 3D games, but it had a level design that NOTHING had before, it wasn't just follow the line, you could explorate the whole map, every game after that inspired on it with 3D, of course other games made it look silly starting with Super Mario 64, but these games gotta give credit to it, to make them change to 3D, Doom, made all 2D games look silly, so they were "oblied" to change

Zelda Ocarina of Time is simply way too revolutionary, too awesome dude, you got to consider that by the time that game came video game players weren't used to those kind of games, so it not only was incredibly fun and well made but the game marqued a generation. Overrated? I don't think so, it is simply one of the best games ever made!! Don't take in consideration only the gameplay or only the game itself but the movement it created, most of the Zelda fans became fans because of that game!!

@blizard0717 Revolutionary? Hardly. I don't even think it's the best N64 game. One thing I hate is how boring and filled with barren areas the overworld is, and another thing I hated was how the graphics and the gameplay were actually almost outdated even at the time. The only thing I will say the game perfected was the soundtrack. Ok game, but the most overrated game ever made IMO.

@blizard0717 LOZ OOT had almost no character development. No Zelda theme, some of the levels drug on to the point to where I no longer cared or remembered why I was at the dungeon, too many instances where the game will let you wander aimlessly without really knowing where you are supposed to go. One of my biggest complaints was not being able to shoot sword projectiles at full health. That was always one of my favorite things about Link.

@blizard0717 Link to the Past had an awesome back story about Hyrule. A really cool story about the Master Sword and how it came to be. I felt like there was a much stronger attachment to the characters because they spent more time on character development. Even minor characters such as the flute boy's ghost and the blacksmith dwarves were better developed than Shiek and the Owl in OOT.
The world in Link to the Past is very active and filled with monsters. Hyrule in OOT is mostly empty land.

I think that FFVii is overatted in the gameplay but have to say that the story was amazing due to one thing... Sepiroth, im not going to say he was 'badass' or anything like that but he had a very well constructed background story which is what sets him apart from other villians. Plus the music is not overatted apart from one winged angel, but cosmo canyon, the boss theme and so many others are some of the best
My favourie game but i cant deny it has a whole load of flaws.

It was to be expected Final Fantasy 7 to be the most overrated game and it truly is. Even OoT has its reasons to be overrated because of its graphics, power-up library, dungeons, first game to have accurate aim and much more never before seen features. But Final Fantasy? What the fuck does that game have that no game had before? The story sucks by the way so that isn't an excuse.

Well, by the players, in which I'm not included, it's mostly for these facts:
-It's a FF game.
-Storyline and
-Music, which is overrated too, like One winged angel.
As I'm not a FF fan and NEVER played a FF game in my life, or if I did I don't remember it, I agree with you but I beg to differ in the OoT part, it's not THAT awesome, it's good, but repeats the same story again:Ganon takes over Hyrule and Link saves the day YAY! In my opinion, MM is better.

My favorite musical pieces in earthbound so far are:scaraba town music,the master belch boss theme,pokey means business and you've come too far ness.

As much as I agree with the list, I think Underrated and Overrated are the second and third most annoying words on the internet in the category of mass misuse.

Kirby and DK 64 under-rated? not to sure about those. i find Beyond Good and Evil is far more under-rated than either of those two. and i think The Darkness is a far more under-rated FPS than Unreal 2004. But, thats just my own opinion.
