hmmm...but there was georgio moroder as well, he fit into the disco era well, along with these guys. Kraftwerk was really too slow to dance to or rather, nobody tried to play it in the clubs, in the studio 54 way. then there was yello...
Good Stuff. I was only taking note of how YMO produced their beats. The kick drum on their stuff was awesome. Bigger and chunkier than other groups. Then, "Planet Rock" came along and blew the roof off.......Cheers!
In 1980 I would go to sleep listening to music; about 2:30am this woke me and I was scared shitless @ 12 yrs old but at that moment I knew the world had changed; the beat was programmed and hip hop patterns were coded. I swear I did not realize it was just a song until the DJ announced just in from Japan "Computer Games".

just listen to this beat!
YMO really are no doubt, the techno pop pioneer!

these guys, kraftewerk, Gorgio Moroder, and yello were the true pioneers, then A Bambatta brought rap along for the ride.

@joyouslife4all
YMO were hugely popular in Japan. They were somewhat niche in the West, but they were still widely influential within the music industry.
