The most incredible thrill of living 25 wonderful years in the Sierra Nevadas was the knowledge that man was just a mere speck and the forces of nature clearly evident around him could crush him like a bug at damned near any moment.
I too live very near to Donner Pass/Truckee and have found myself in a few nasty blizzards/snowstorms. Isn't hard to imagine how someone or something can get stranded there...even today.
I just inished watching the shining and I trustno-one. ),8
