@Parson2 Your body type doesn't represent the level of rudeness, but if you are going to Japan, losing weight might help you tremendously because almost everything in Japan is designed for Japanese standard body size.
hahahaha sneezing in front of many people hahahahaha british assholes always do that and then after sneezing they going to put the tissue inside the sleeve of their jacket or top or inside their pocket wahahahaha how gross was that hahahahaha
who the fuck does this in any country i can understand the chopsticks thing but who does any of that other shit anywhere. Making americans look like assholes by over exaggerating things would make anyone look rude
The chopstick thing, and the "eating whilst walking" are the only ones I find wierd (depending on what food: some bread for breakfast whilst racing to catch the bus? maby)
Otherwise, all of these are pretty much universal, right? I realize americans love wearing their shoes indoors, but staring at random people, singing loud in public with a horrible singing voice, and blowing your nose in peoples faces are generally... "frowned upon" most places, Amiright?
@irategamerdoesnotsuk We asked permission from students in the area if it was okay to sing and do what we did before filming. They said it was okay and they know we are the foreigners who take the World media class. Not many people run around singing lady gaga at the top of their lungs
@Myneighbortotoro21 Here in Brazil that is considered super friendly and polyte! Just like running over boy scouts with your car. You'll neither get arrested nor beaten up =D
I live in Sasebo, Japan. I see japanese people being loud and acting crazy. This is the same in America. I think its rude to talk about people but Japanese do it anyway. So where do we meet in respect?
fuck u i work 12 hours a day and have a 30 minutes break time if i dont fuck eat when im walking i starve! and who gives a shit for chopsticks in the rice... what stupid!
@kitsune090 People only stick chopsticks in rice at funerals(it represents a freshly filled up grave when it still has a mound), so if you do it in public it's like disrespecting the family members who passed away of the Japanese people you are around. Calling it stupid is disrespecting Japanese culture in general. So much otaku ignorance.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@damnproudasian898 Do you think i dont know it?! omg you're so noob! i bet that if you come to japan you're gonna bring a manual, and consult it before all action you do! im not calling a tradition stupid.. what is stupid is being so worried to disrespect a tradition that people don't care anymore... it's only a chopsticks in rice, not freshly filled up grave... im sure some old fashion people take it seriously, but not everyone... so nobody will get offended, cause it's not a big deal...
@damnproudasian898 Yeah Americans are always trying to come up with an excuse to get out of being respectful of other cultures with "it's no big deal" remarks.
I like this, it´s a very clear and straight-forward clip about how to not behave in Japan. It´s nice that you, as foreigners, made it because that really does show your repsect to the Japanese culture.
On the one hand......Japan is a very uptight society. On the other hand......America is a society that just doesn't give a rat's ass about anything. A social match made in Hell.
You know, some Japanese may be nice but they aren't exactly angels..While there are a lot of little things here and there that Japanese people don't like, there are also some little things Japanese do that are considered rude to some of us. Like not being introduced by your Japanese friends to other japanese. Also some are not very friendly as to even say hi how are you. and well there are other little things but probably the best thing to do in japan is not be loud and not have your chopsticks
Never mind about all that! It's nothing compared to how Japanese behave on streets or transportation vehicles. Many Japanese don't say "I'm sorry" when they collide with someone on the train or at a shopping mall. They stare at you a lot. Even if you ask "Anything wrong?", they ignore you like a zombie or something. They push you out instead of saying "Excuse me. I have to run through." They often cut you out when you are making a line. They think they are most sophisticated nation on earth.
If walking and eating at the same time are considered rude, you should have mentioned that talking and masticating at the same time are also rude. Also, as a European living in the US, I notice people yawning all the time and not putting their hand in front of their mouth which is considered rude in Europe, or rather a lack of manners, so I'm sure that Japanese consider it rude as well. Same thing applies with belching.
i live in japan and for me they are so focused on nonsense things and consider it rude but when they talk they dont even know what they said is rude so if i were you i wouldn't worry about being rude in here coz you wont be but they'll be to you..not generally of course but expect it.
@JBofBrisbane Your right! That is a good one. Sadly I was too afraid to film on the subway. Did not want to piss people off too much to make a class project :P
Well when you compare any staring of foreigners in Japan, to whats been happening to Japanese Americans and Asian Americans in America for centuries, ie racism, and all that nasty stuff etc.. I think Whites in Japan are whiney bitching over nothing.
I take your points, but foreigners in Japan are met with continual rudeness. Being glared at is perhaps top of the list. But we are also poked on the shoulder to gain our attention, literally pulled in the direction we are wanted to go, and generally not trusted in our word or ability to do anything (especially over a Japanese). It is not all bad, certainly not, but the fakery is so common that I find it difficult to know who is genuine.
Indeed. @ninawth I do know you must be careful if your using hands or gestures because some are different in Japan. Such as the American thumbs down means "I'm going to kill you" in Japan.
@MiHiVidz woah br0, you must be a fucking stupid american, despite the fact that all americans are stupid but.... anyway I wish your shit country unemployment goes as high as possible, national debt gets bigger, dollar losing more value, more niggas migrating to america beat the shit out of those fat-ass white pussies, you already got a muslim nigga prezident wooo~ nice btw I don't a flying fuck what you gonna reply to me stupid american fuck
