Got some advice for you! Go with Cable. You'll get about 16 HD channels but you will love the picture quality! Get a PS3!!! Cant stress that enough. And get Blu-ray(HD) movies to play in it. HD-DVD is going the way of the dinosaurs! Don't waste your money on HD-DVD. And most important - Be prepared to change lamps(About $250+ea.)! DLP tv's are rear projection so you'll need a new lamp ever2-4 years depending on how much tv you watch!
There are still huge issues with OLED tv's! The big one is the fact that the colors "die" off at different rates. The red goes after 15,000hrs. then the green at 30,000 ect... But this is the real "flat screen" tv! I hate it when people call LCD's & plasma tv's flat screens! Listen up idiots - their called *** FLAT PANELS ***
Hey genius, I saw the Sony OLED, what they neglect to tell you is that the screen itself is thin but the Tv is sitting on a 2 inch thick base full of the electronics. So a working model will still have thickness to it. ALA Samsungs more realistic version.
Oh, and I spoke with Jap Techs at the show. OLED currently tops out at more like 5k- 10k hours. And it's the blue that goes out the fastest. I'll look at them in about 5 to 10 years when the can improve the life span. The new plsmas kick ass!!
Hey "genius" Flat TV were call after cathode tube TVs, have u notice that the screen was curvy??? Flat screen (screen if u dont get it) is just a notion of the screen and not the bak..
The term "flat screen" is inaccurate. The designer of these technologies didn't call them flat screen, they're called them "flat panels"! So that's what I will call them.
Finally a display thats contrast ratio is on par with CRT. Still, we won't be seeing any large sized OLED Displays for another 3 years and they're sure to be really expensive.
Besides that, Mitsubishi unveiled Laser which is impressive, although there were claims about it being low in price are total BS
CRTs are around 100,000:1 as far CR goes not to mention they produce the greatest black levels, Accurate colors, brightness and overall picture ect. The highest CR for an HDTV on the market so far is only 20,000:1 and those are Pioneers Kuros. Anyways the day I buy an HDTV is when they can produce a picture that is as good as my Sony Wega trinitron CRT. Laser might beable to do it, but OLEDS and the extreme kurus wont be hitting the market with large displays for another 3 years...
You're talking 'High definition' not that actually technology. If they were to produce 720p or 1080p CRTs, you would be drooling. The downside to CRTS, is that they're limmited in size, they're bulky and heavy.
Anyways, I probably won't be buying an HDTV for another year or so, right now I'm interested in Laser, but Mitsubishi lied about how they would be half the price of a plasma which totaly sucks
I have a 51 inch CRT and the 1080i picture is fantastic! I go it for 700 bucks too. Just because there are only "new" flat panels in the stores doesn't mean they're better! I knew exactly what I was looking for. If you want the best surround sound speakers do you get the newest stuff or do you get what is actually the best? The one that everything is compared to? Im only interested in the HDTV that is the refference! The one that sets the standard. CRT...
is the beginning of a new technological era!!!
that's wonderful!
