I work for a pretty awesome company. Maybe not as GREAT as this one, but they are nipping on their heels. I have worked in call centers since 1999. I have worked in 6 different call centers since. And the one that I am at now is the BEST of the BEST. They treat us with dignity and respect. They care about us. And the support us fully. I am not just another person doing their bidding. I am very lucky to work where I do, and I thank god for it everyday.
These guys are amazing. Like the bid says they make most of their sales ie profits from return customers by offering free shipping more people are bound to return. I've shopped through this company since the first couple years it started and as long as it stays alive I always will!!!! Love you Zappos!!!
The CEO along with all the employees seem like great people, different personalities and style but all are good people. If...actually when I win the jackpot for the Mega Millions I will start a great company like this and be the best and kindest guy/CEO I can be.
He really only gets that $36,000 a year, but then think of the interest he's accumulating from the $200 million from his sold company. At even just 3 percent interest he's making 6 million a year! So making shipping free for customers, and food and health benefits for employees is no problem.
@roidz17 Well actually if you read his book "Delivering Happiness" he most likely had not much of that cash left to collect any interest. He spent it on keeping Zappos alive in the early years (what he had left after selling a party loft he bought anyways.)
I bet somewhere in the free shipping and 365 days return, there is a cost factor into the total price for the statistics of the products that actually ended up being returned. In a way, every buyer pay for a small amount of insurance for the products that ended up being returned.
@terminator800tlgm It is. They do not offer coupon nor have the cheapest shoes. They even stated at their website. But they do strive for the best customer service to keep their customer happy.
I've been in customer service for over 8 yrs. At the company that I'm at now, one manager actually made a "no laughing" rule...I kid you not. And my boss is always yelling at the whole team for 1 person's mistake. I'd love to work for Zappos.
@theredmars they make just enough to make a slim profit but spend a ton on shipping charges and they laid off a ton of people a couple of years ago. a private investor spent like crazy to get it going and just now its showing some money. amazon bought them because the investor dumped them before costs got too way out of control
Dear Zappos, How do you wake up Lady Gaga? You "Poke-her Face!" Bahaha! Now that I have your attention, I'd love the opportunity to work for your company. I've sent in a number of applications/resumes, and am available for an interview anytime. Please gimme a shout!

p.s. I promise not to take the $2,000 to talk away :)
I've been ordering shoes for years from Zappos - they have the BEST customer service. However, the one thing I noticed about this call center was that there were not many older people, ie., 40 - 50's. So many need jobs right now due to outsourcing. Anyway, kudos to Zappos - keep up the good work.
I'm so MAd I found out about zappos after purchasing my polo sneakers from the mall!! Zappos you know have a lifelong customer..FREE SHIPPING? THats unheard of!!
Zappos is SO awesome. I'm really impressed with the CEO and all the employees. Out of all the online stores I've dealt with, Zappos has THE best customer service. Thanks! :)
I just ordered something from zappos the other day and i must say Im pretty impressed. i think the thing i like the most is the no hassle shipping. most sites have the price you pay listed then checking out you have to put in your zip and calculate shipping. after that you have 7 or 8 different options. with zappos its just fast, free shipping. then clothing its overnight free! looks like its up there with google and sas in being a great place to work.
Great feature. Customer service people tend to get overlooked and Zappos has empowered them and let them know (loud and clear) they effect the bottom line.
They show alot of the Vegas Zappos. The Ky Zapponians arent that exuberant and jolly.Everyday theres a new hire and a few more fied. Its tense and everytime they "Change" something it slows the process down while its being relearned and thats when the complaints from te same big guys start.I loved this place at first.Lately...IDK...We shall see.Nothing is perfect but when something works...why fix it?
Many bad businesses should consider operating like this. What we see often is profit is most important over principles. If you want to know what good and profitable business practice is search google for Costco's "Code of Ethics"
I LOVE Zappos... this is where I buy my children's shoes from that everyone always compliment (you always buy the cutest shoes, where do you get them from)... Not to mention the lightening fast delivery. How in the world can I order a pair of shoes at 10 pm and they're at my doorstep the next morning??? !!! I'm lovin the work atmosphere. Glad to know I buy from a GREAT company.
Amazing. I like this guy's way of thinking. If you treat the employee right then it's just a positive chain reaction all the way down to your customers. More companies need to take part in this type of business philanthropy. 5 stars.
Its amazing that Big Companies don't realize that in today's cold world....all we want is to talk to someone on the other line with an once of respect and dare I say friendliness.

I actually used to work customer service and got fired for being too nice and too honest. Its wonderful to see a company with a heart. I love the way you guys do business. Customer since 2003.
