I really thought more people would be socially Libertarian... I understand people being economically "right" they believe freedom also applies to money, that's cool, I get it. I really only think for-profit necessities like health insurance, electricity, water, etc. should be barred. And also believe in strict monopoly, anti-trust, and price fixing laws.
Ha, Lefty Liberal myself too. Though not as Economic Left and Social Libertarian as you. I've taken the test multiple times over the years and settled about half way between a centrist and Libertarian with economic left leaning tendencies. The questions are weighted so tweaking the ones that give you pause hones your anaysis.
I'm really not convinced I'm a libertarian, though. I've read about libertarianism and it sounds like a free for all to me. I don't believe that corporations can be trusted to self regulate any more than I believe society can exist without laws. I quite like the idea of social engineering.
I really wish this test was accurate, but it's not. It put me next Ghandi! The questions are worded to force you into answering something you don't agree with.
Thanks for the comment and viewing. You're right. The questions are slanted. From their website: It's important to realise that this isn't a survey, and these aren't questions. They're propositions - an altogether different proposition...
To question the logic of individual ones that irritate you is to miss the point. Some propositions are extreme, and some are more moderate. That's how we can show you whether you lean towards extremism or moderation on the Compass.
Some of the propositions are intentionally vague. Their purpose is to trigger buzzwords in the mind of the user, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy.
Incidentally, our test is not another internet personality classification tool. The essence of our site is the model for political analysis. The test is simply a demonstration of it.
Hey Steph, Thanks for the comment. I'm in the same leftist/libertarian quadrant, but just a bit more in favor of govt regulation. You must be more progressive than me regarding social issues, but I'm sure we are a lot closer to each other than the politcal norm in the U.S.
I don't mind government regulations and some spending if there isn't a lot of pork involved. If businesses can do it efficiently why can't the government?
I guess I am pretty progressive socially. I have a real rebellious streak in me. Authoritative types really bring it out. lol (I usually tend not to let it show unless REALLY provoked.)
Anyway, I would like to see the government out of our personal lives. I think this "drug war" is rediculous and backfiring. Don't get me started on church state stuff or Iraq arrghhh
Ok.. I'll shut up now. I could rant for a while thinking of all this. LOL (I don't know how I became like this. I was an Army brat!)
I fit in as economic left -4.5/ libertarian -3.69, so bascially in favor of some control on business/trade for societal and environmental sake while mantaining maximum amount of personal liberty. I'll soon post a reply to this vid with a more detailed response of my results.
Thanks for taking the time to view. I'm sure you're not too ignorant. Your opinions are just as valid as anyone elses. Maybe try again some time for posterity if your bored. You don't have to post your results. Thanks again.
Thanks, I actually think my opinions could mess up the survey, because I am naïve about how politics function. Not to mention the confusion that came from the first few questions alone. I think here, we just started 'keeping' the money earned-not going to taxes any longer this year. I'm ok with that.
Fair enough, but your opinions wouldn't mess the test. It's completely anonymous and not recorded. Some of the early questions are "skewed" or leading.
