Hmmm. I can't say that I really like Martha in this. She almost seems to be trying to take over the song. The version on Rufus' Poses album is much, much better because it features Rufus' brilliant voice in the lead throughout. Also, given the content of the lyrics, it seems odd to hear a female be the lead vocalist on one of the stanzas.

I am disappointed by Martha on this one.

When i saw him, he sang this with Teddy and Teddy's sister, Cammy, but I've always preferred it when just Rufus sings it alone.

Good version but I prefer the version where they are singing indoor, its name is "One Man Guy"-- Rufus Wainwright w/ Martha and Teddy and it's by valentinalover. It sounds better there and maybe just Martha is not as beautiful as here (I like her hair and skirt here :D ) but I like it more.

Fuck off, she's brilliant. Her something better to do is actually doing her own stuff. She just likes to experiment with all sorts of harmonies and sometimes they are a bit off but it doesn't really matter. Perfection is boring and Martha's character and individuality shine so brightly that she always gets away with it and everybody is charmed by her. I think you would be if you saw her live.

Rufus's songs are absolutely amazing. I love his music to death, but his mom's (and aunt's)music is even more beautiful! Check out Kate and Anna McGarrigle's "French Record" or "Over and Over" or "Dancer with Bruised knees". GORGEOUS music!!!
