@estyle40 if you were not such a ignorant fuck. you would no the stones played with several black artists and liked and admired black musicians. so doing a cover is more of a honor. billy preston played keysboards for the stones in the 70's. how is that racist
@awhiteman1986 A million dollars says you werent even born when all that you mentioned happened; I was!!! Who`s the ignorant fuck now? And yes, Im aware of all of this!
Okay, this is in no way meant to be racist, but some of the comments, such as owizy, calm down. It's clear you favor black groups, and the Tempations are great but their version of this song is so boring. The Rolling Stones RESPECT black singers, Muddy Waters, Tina Turner, Temptations, The Jacksons, and they do wonderful covers, so don't say stuff like that.
@Yellow4494 i hear ya man, thats what i hear all day. blacks are some of the most racist people alive, but you cant call them on it. i was playing vanilla fudge you keep me hanging on, when i nearly got into a fight because its not the original. its "white boy shit", but thats the world we live in. but hey, live and let die right? god bless and UP THE IRONS FROM LOUISIANA
@TATELANDDOG I completely agree. White people or black people, they can all have great music. The Beatles, The Stones, they have some of the best music out there. And I like black singers too but I am sick of hearing about how "white people are so racist" and how black people feel all this racism. That's just bull. In the 60's or 70's sure, but I actually feel a lot of racism coming from them because many think they are better than white people when infact everyone's equal.
@owizy huh. I never thought of it that way. Because everytime I listen to a rap song, it carries beats from classic songs we all know and love. Dumb racist shit.
Have loved The Stones for more than fourty years, but I can't think of a single cover of theirs that equaled the original. Here is another case in point.
I remember the first time I heard this song. It was on one of those "double days" or whatever the fuck on my respective radio station, and I knew the Temptations version, but I heard this version for the first time on my way to court in a corrupt shithole of a town for underage drinking. And the stones inspired me TELL THE JUDGE WHAT WAS WHAT! Of course, I did three days in jail after that, but I've lived my life differently ever since. And we have Keef and his shitty solo to thank for that!
The Stones version is a cover. Same as I can't get no Satisfaction .. it is called Race Records. Elvis did a lot too. @chokicou I don't understand one thing, which version is a cover? The Stones' one or the Temptations' version?
@MrJimmypage32 Mick Taylor was barely mediocre, just cuz he was with the stones when they put out some of their best albums does not mean his guitar playing is good. Freaking boring kannodaling is how I would describe his solo's . Learn a second scale maybe ?
@70goldtop the Stones is more like a rockorchester you know what i mean? It's not a vocal band, but a band driven by both drums, vocal, guitar, backup vocal, saxofon, bass & more, It's not some sort of vocal band like Beatles or Temptations. Don't get me wrong their version (original) is very sensitiv and well played, but it's like to diffrent bands and 2 diffrent ways to play you really can't compare it to be honest :)
this is in a magazine as one of the worst guitar solos, mick taylor left the stones shortly after this, claiming they were so bad. guitar solo played by keith richards
@TEMPmichaelhansen hahaha whats funny is, ever since i heard this song, ive been trying and failing to pack that much passion into MY solos. what a bs list
@TEMPmichaelhansen i think its good, and i'm pretty picky about shit like that (I play guitar myself). Back in those days, too much emphasis was placed on things like guitar solos and the "guitar god virtuoso" thing (when punk came around, that all changed) instead of what was best suited to the individual song. I think a short, simple solo fits this tune just right.
Not really much point comparing this and the original. This is a more rock n roll version, slightly less laid back; more guitar. But, i personally prefer this one, i think the original is good but just not my style
@limosince2007 Hmm. I would've said this version sounds more laid back. The Temptations sound like they're really pleading for the chick, while Mick sounds like he's just saying the words. I like both versions, but I'm also a whore for Motown.
@yoshemitzu47 i mean musically. the temptations version was a more laid-back feeling swing style. the stones version is more a driving rock beat that pushes the beat rather than laying back on it which i sort of prefer
This puts the "roll" in rock n roll. I didn't realize this was a cover but after listening to this version thousands of times, the original sounds weak to me.
@DSMeclipsegst your an idiot, just cause your insult is longer doesn't make it better seriously if u can honestly hate on this song, you should stop wasting your time on the computer and more time looking for a train to jump in front of you big fat curly headed fuck
the stones didnt "steal" this song numb nuts. the stones gave proper credit to the song writers on the album. more importantly aint too proud to beg was a huge hit for the temptations and most people know this is a cover.
@inkatha2000 Fgs, shut up. They didn't steal anything. You're mad because they covered it better than the Temptations' slow version. Also, you have no life if you're just coming to Stones videos to hate on them. Go watch a Temptations video, even though they can't write an up-tempo song to save their lives.
BEST VERSION BY FAR!
