Don't you think are a bit overpriced for 1/3 chip cam? honestly I can't see much difference on image quality compare with far mor cheaper cams. Is it worth the money? what do you think?
@melandyork you're right, plus XLR output, I'm lucky to get hold of one and I'm sold with the XF100 (I mean), the only thing is that's not great in low light, but hey, you can have it all!
So basically the only difference with the XF100 is that this one has three 3ccd and the othe just one, is it worth the2,500$ difference in price?, as I could not see much difference in image quality.
Not really a review. The camera is bloody awful. the focus and zoom have a delay as they're not direct. The cards swap without you wanting them to, spreading clips across cards out of order. also it's so covered with buttons that you're always accidentally pressing something. It has no weight, not ergonomic and no shoulder mount. Plus the depth of field is rubbish.
could SD cards in CF adapters be used in this camera? in my DSLR(s) I do the same thing but wondered if it'd be feasible here since this is primarily a video device
"You use a card reader and transfer the footage to your hard drive" That's true. That was the first think I've saw. Then, after I few seconds I realized all I need a Card/Reader...
I saw another youtube video that shows how slow the zoomring is, like you turn the zoomring but the zoom lags behind if you turn it fast, that is really irritating, i want a camera with a REAL zoomring that actually works mechanicly, not electronicly, is there a camera in the same class has the xf305 that has it?
great review. Two questions: 1. Did he say "18 minutes" record time on the cards or "80 minutes"? 2. Am I right in assuming firewire is not needed as it doesn't record to tape?
@jetblakink 80 min on 32 GB Compact Flash card, 160 minutes on a 64 GB card. It has two slots, so with two 64 GB cards, it can record 320 minutes ( 5 hours and 20 minutes ) at full 1080p HD at 50 Mbps. Plus it has TWICE the color depth of AVCHD camcorders, which can only record 4.2.0 This camcorder does 4.2.2
Plus it has an incredible 82mm Canon Professional L series lens, super fast f/1.6 with 18x zoom. Biggest and best LCD in its class, super ergonomic, and excellent button layout.
No 8 or 12 pin lens port for zoom/start/stop? Or lanc?

@hotgypsylips you need to consider more than just the chip, the lens is much better and it also captures at 422 colour space & at 50mbps

Is it true that if you record in 50mbps it will only shoot in 720?

why cant you use it, because fire wire is not on the camera? so what. You use a card reader and transfer the footage to your hard drive.

@jetblakink he said 80mins, does not have firewire built in so can't use it. you can view more info about it on the Visual Impact website.
