  • Are there any hardware problems like overheating,BSODs,shutting down on this laptop?

  • @DIPGLOBAL1 Haven't had any! It runs hot occasionally, but no overheating issues.

  • hey i just got this laptop for christmas and i was wondering if you knew how to use the webcam ...........usually most laptops have the feature where you can take pictures, and videos, and i was wondering if you knew how to do that?

  • @MuMuCow8 Lucky you!. Unfortunately I do not know how to use it. I opted out of getting the webcam. Something I am regretting now.

  • Great review, man. I just ordered mine today. I'm not a business person, I just like things that are well built and look professional. My HP pavilion looks like a tacky toy and feels like it's going to break if I put it in a backpack. Hopefully the thinkpad can live up to my expectations.

  • Hi, i've see you posted this video in January, so your sl410 is coming up to its year birthday soon, have you had any major problems? small problems? hardware still running fine? found any more pro's and con's since the review?

    thanks

  • Thanks very much for these reviews. You sold me on the SL410, I just bought one today :-)

  • you're really talkative. I guess ph.ds are all good at making simple thing complicated?

  • look small not nice

  • Please, are you thing so this notebook can be use for student works? And I want use laptop for car diagnostic, where i prefere good endurance. Off course I playing games too. But not so much... thank for your comment and sorry for my bad english.

  • @Darfen1 Yes, I use it for school. Its great with videos and regular games (Tom Clancy series, Flight Sim). I'm not sure what car diagnostic entails, but I bet it would work.

  • Duksarewet, How do you think this particular notebook computer would work for a student going to college? Thank you!

  • @mmbrown1126 It would be great! Its a nice, light, reliable machine. And its backed by lenovo! It wouldn't be good if you plan on gaming lots or doing lots of media/ graphics intensive stuff.

  • Thank you for the review!

Have you tried Counter Strike: Source? How does it run?

  • No I haven't. I don't play games.

  • @ducksarewet Ok, thank you very much.

  • Is there any flex on the keyboard?

  • Not sure what you're asking. It's a nice solid keyboard with a good "clickity" sound

  • @iTech72 i know what ur talking about and NO their ain't no flex on a thinkpad! the plastic is top quality man......

  • How does it handle 1080p? If I go for it, I plan on doing hdmi to a 47" hdtv fairly often. Also sites like hulu at max res?

  • The most I've done is 720p. I use an HDMI to my 23" HD monitor, and it seems to be fine. I wouldn't say for sure that 1080 will run smoothly. Lenovo isn't known for their graphics card!

As for sites, it seems good on things like youtube. I don't use any streaming sites (I'm in Canada. No Hulu for me, but lots of torrents!)

  • Hi i was wondering how hot the laptop gets? And where you feel the heating dissipation is worst on the laptop..tahnks. I run a lot of memory intensive program like Matlab and Autodesk invenotr so i was owndering how good this may be.. Thanks!

  • When I run memory intensive programs, its usually on my desk and I don't notice. There are no fan ports on the bottom, so there is no air direction to your legs. The fan regularly adjusts speed, and is louder than my old inspiron 6000. Sorry I can't help further than that.

  • Thank you ducksarewet for this great video! I've seen other video reviews on the SL410 and the reviewers all complained about the quality of the plastic casing , what do you think?

  • I think the quality is great actually! It does have more plastic that other thinpad models, but the quality is good. A real solid laptop both closed and open. Also, the hinges are steel, which is what really matters!

  • I am getting one this week?

    How about the battery life?

  • @edifice13 It's rated at 4 hours, but I usually get around 3 hours on normal use.

  • honestly, I haven't really gamed. I run FSX on it with the graphics cranked up, and that's about its limit.

  • Awsome review! I orderd one a few days ago. Cant wait hope you see this. It would be awsome if you made another video. I dont know what about but it would be cool Thanks

  • Thanks ducksarewet. This was really helpful to me in choosing a laptop (there isn't much on the web about the SL410, so I was very grateful for your video). Mine arrived yesterday. Beautiful machine!

  • great review - yea the only really bad thing about the sl410 is the glossy screen, everything else is good

  • glossy screens are gimmicky. stick with the antiglare matte.

  • True, however this model only offers the glossy.

  • u said this model is available only in glossy but how come u have the matte black for this sl410 laptop??

  • The CASING is matte black. The SCREEN is glossy. Those were the only options at ordering.

  • Thanks for the review! Thinking about getting one of these.
