  • Dear God, have we fallen this low that people write like this about the man?

  • The Douglas / Lincoln debates were such a farce, and these dramatisations do nothing bu belie the man himself. Lincoln was a silver-tongued politician who said one thing and did another, who would even say one thing one day and the complete opposite the next! I can't write all that much in these little youtube boxes - but Lincoln claimed in these debates that he upheld the principle of equality, and yet he himself endorsed the Illinois Black Codes - how do you explain that? He's a charlatan.

  • @djsmurfie Dramatisations my ass. These are equat quotes moron, although they are a patchwork of various statements at various cities.

Furthermore, dumb ass, they are VERY accurate in their representation of the the two men. These are their arguments, moron. I found the quotes -- essentially verbatum -- in the debates as recorded at the time. Its very clear the screenwriter went to the transcrips (the first debates in US history transcribe like this, in shorthand) for the dialog.

  • He is definitly talking amout Lincoln, because Lincoln is a descendent of Hispanic Jews, and thats what American History leaves out. Notice Lincoln did not have white skin or Blonde, Red, or Brown hair like the Roman Europeans

  • @TEXMANHARD Yes because the surname 'Lincoln' is obviously of Iberian origin. Sorry, but you're wrong: Lincoln was of English extraction.

  • The foulest, most dishonest, most twisted, evil, conniving scoundrel to ever live. He walked one way and spoke another. The most talented and skillful politician to ever live in human history! This hell-hole of a shit-hole nation we live in today is the wet-dream of this forked tongue banker, railroad tycoon and corporate spokesman! I don't believe in a god or any hell. But I hope god has damned you to eternal torment forever you son of a bitch Jew!

  • @evesplittheatom I hope you are talking about Douglas. Because if not you should get over the fact that the south lost the war loser. You are a bigoted idiot neo-conderate a-hole. You are the SOB and are not a real Christian.

  • It's really a wonder that Lincoln broke himself away from his male companion lawyer bed buddy long enough to follow along behind the coat tails of a star politician of the day like Douglas.

  • @ke4bss Douglas is probably more responsible for the Civil War than any other man in US history. His desire for riches caused him to pander to Southern slavers, and caused them to hope to spread slavery to the west.

The South's insane desire and need to spread slavery is what caused the war -- and Douglas was the guy who -- more than anyone else -- fanned those flames.

  • Lincoln, like all of us, was a work in progress. He improved over time.

So did Forrest when he rejected the Klan he created.

So did Lee when he regretted ever having taken a military education.

  • @SSArcher11 Indeed he did, exponentially. His wisdom grew unfailingly until his death. In spite of being saddled with chronic depression and an unstable wife, Lincoln managed to keep his great sense of compassion, which was aptly displayed in his concern for his fellow countrymen. "Let 'em down easy", he said to Grant on the eve of the Confederate surrender at Appomattox. A telling statement. If Johnson had only heeded this advice, what a different country this might have been.

  • @Sealy57 Maybe, but letting the South down easy, wasn't so easy. In fact, I think Johnson should have had trials for Lee and Davis, then pardoned them, but had the trials. We needed those trials -- to show Lee and Davis as slave torturers, child sellers, etc. Lee, for example, had girls tortured while he stood by screaming at them. Davis and Lee both got rich selling humans. All this has been white washed away.

I think Lincoln might have had trials, but who knows

  • @SSArcher11 Lee was torturing girls up to the Civil War, and would have tortured them after, if he could have.

Nathan Bedford Forrest grew very wealthy buying children - from men like Lee --- excess babies -- and force marching them to the South, to sell to men like Davis. Lee, Davis, Forrest were all slave traders, that is how they got rich, buying, selling, and working slaves.

  • Excellent piece of work! Thank you very much for Sharing!

What a way of meeting people and get to see their talent. At first was reluctant being on youtube, but getting to do this has brought me into the houses of some very special people. You are one of them. Life; isn't it wonderful!

Keep up the good work. Hope You Are Having A Splendid Day!

    A New Friend

    Erick

  • I will say in addition, that there is a physical difference between the white and black races. which , I suppose, will forever forbid the two races living together upon terms of social and political equality, and inasmuch as they cannot so live, that while they do remain together, there must be the position of superior and inferior,

  • "I will say then, that I am not nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way, social and political equality of the white and black races; that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters of the free negroes, or jurors, or qualifying them to hold office, or having them to marry with white people.

  • This is,lies and distorted history were is this part?

  • @civilwarcow I like how You describe people into a catagory of "Neo". Maybe YOU are NEO but from a different point of view which is in opposition of yours.

  • @ke4bss Did I use the word NEO? of did You. Either way the Neos...wanted their separation from Yankee Tyranny!

  • @ke4bss to repsond to your NEO- lable I respectfully respond by refering to such Neo comments, such as your thus stated as NEO Yankeedumb!! God Save the King!

  • @ke4bss No, I only described YOU as a NEO YankeeDumbAss!

  • What is greatly missed by all historians both great and small is that Lincoln in these debates was a nobody. As a nobody he argued with Doughlas, as Somebody, simply too get his name in the newspapers.

  • how u find this???

  • @ebrules50cent Internet.

  • This should be shown in every school in USA, North and South. It should be shown every year, from kindergarten to graduate students. Every Congressman, every Senator, every President, should listen to it every year.

We have so distorted Lincoln that many lunatics believe Lincoln was not for freedom or justice -- they have taken edited quotes, left out what you see here, and trashed Lincoln and freedom.

Either teach real history, or don't teach it at all.

  • I LUV this video...

  • "The right of workers to strike," eh? That's one line that modern Republicans won't repeat.

  • can i get a link to download this video cuz i need it for a project im doin

  • Ray Massey looked and sounded like Lincoln.

  • @bookkeeper57 Ray may have looked like Lincoln, but he certainly didn't sound like him. Lincoln spoke in a squeaky Western accent that irritated his audiences, especially in Washington.

  • 'Whenever they should grow weary of the existing goverment, they can exercise their Constitutional Right of amending it...or their Revolutionary right to dismember or Overthrow it. If our founding fathers gave us anything,,,they gave us that."

Sounds like Mr. Lincoln himself knew that the Southern States had the "Right" to form their own Nation if they wished. This Union is held together at gunpoint. How can you say you believe in Freedom and then "Force" people to stay against their will?

  • I cant help but to notice that any anti-Lincoln comments are not posted because I know of many that has come your way. That only tells us that you find a NEED to defend some of the things that he has said and done. He was a very Bad person.

  • @meetman3

The Southern scum were great at torturing 14 year old girls -- as Lee did -- or burning run away slaves to death -- as Davis did. But both of these "macho" men ran like cowards from Richmond, on the false rumor of a breech in the line.

Davis was caught wearing his wife's dress, and Lee snuck off from his men to surrender. Biggest act of cowardice in US history.

But then -- slavery is an act of cowardice. Notice, you arent trying that slavery shit now?

  • @NavyBeer so what you are really saying is that it took a peter puffin faggot like Lincoln to save the black race from wrong minded Southrons. It's nice that unionist like to forget that Northern states also employed slavery for a time and similar brutality existed and exploited runaway slaves in the whaling industry of the North all the while breaking United States Law which protected slavery in states where it existed.

  • @meetman3 How was Lincoln a bad person? Perfect, no.

Bad, I'm not sure. This is almost word for word from the debates,

  • @meetman3 nonsense, Lincoln's full meanings and purpose is caputred in this video. The way Lincoln haters have created hate from people like you is to edit his speeches, take out the parts where Lincoln says blacks are equal.

Notice this speech above, LIncoln says blacks are NOT equal in some ways, ---- that is the part Lincoln haters quote. But in the next SENTENCE --Lincoln obliterates that idea, and says all men are created equal in their rights. This you Lincoln haters leave out.

  • Mr. Lincoln stated in the speech that the people had the "Right" to throw off the goverment and form a new one" So why is the Southern States called guilty of treason? It WAS their right!!

  • Mr. Lincoln states. " When ever they shall grow tired of the existing goverment, they can exercise their Constitutional Rights of Amending it...or their Revolutionary Rights to dismember or over throw it." So it seems that the Goverment owes the Southern States an apology.

  • If only they could see Lincoln Douglas debate today lol

  • Abe touched Douglas which gave Douglas his powers so Douglas won

  • I was surprised by this clip - and looked up the quotes in the actual debates.

What these men say in this clip -- they said in the debates. However, it is not in this order. The movie necessarily condensed the quotes.

It is a very accurate representation of the men's positions. The screenwriter did his homework.

Lincoln haters go bonkers at this clip -- they want to show Lincoln as pro slavery. Funny because Lincoln haters at the time wanted to show Lincon as pro freedom.

  • @12FlyMe It is very ironic isn't it ? Excellent point ! Bravo !

  • @12FlyMe Yesssir, it was a part of the great "House Didivded Speech." What a fantastic example of a human being give a chance to good for so many people

and then having the personal courage to carry it out.

  • Absolute revisionist bullsh!t. I've read all seven debates beginning to end. This video is pure fiction.

In reality, Lincoln's position was, as he reiterated again and again, that he had "neither the right nor the inclination to abolish slavery".

  • These are all very nearly the exact quotes -- just from various days of the debates. Douglas said these exact words -- to T. Lincoln said these exact words, but not to a T

But the meaning of both men are well represented here. YOu can google the debates and find each sentence spoke, virtually idential, but not all in one place at one time.

  • ehud -- sorry I looked up the debates -- those in the video are from the debates. Not exact quotes -- but the exact sentiments and meaning.

Lincoln's was from Charleston debate, 4th debatge September 17, 1858. Douglas quote about terror came two days earlier -- Jonesboro, 3rd debate.

Looks like you didnt read them all. Nor did you understand them.

The quotes in this video are the basic message by both candidates.

  • @ehudwould This post is fiction. Though Lincoln did not want a civil war, he was an abloitionist from way back. This posturing was to get elected and avoid a civil war.

Then the secession began. His stance on slavery was well know by that time.

  • huck nonsense, go see Lincoln's full speech.

Go see what the SOUTH said about Lincoln. Their accusations AGAINST Lincoln was that he was FOR equality. They would ACCUSE him of being for equality, they HATED him because he was for equality.

That is what your OWN leaders said, Lincoln was a ni**er lover, Lincoln wanted blacks to vote, Lincoln this and Lincoln that.

You have always distorted and feared Lincoln because he kicked your asp, and you are still crying about it.

  • Long live the memory of the" Loyal ,True and Brave"Mr.Lincoln.His words shall be forever a beacon for the oppressed, for those hungry for truth and justice ,no matter of their origin, country or times!

  • These are the days when politicans didn't need teleprompters!!.... They spoke from the heart!!

  • The best speech Lincoln ever gave - better and more important than Gettysburg.

Oh -- I now this is a compliation of LIncoln in the LD debates. But this is what he said essentially in every debate.

These words are why we have the country we do today. They changed the world.

  • Every American child growing up should listen to this debate every year, and study it.

These are all Lincoln's exact words -- recorded at the time and printed in papers all around the country the next day.

Lunatics in the South to this day - on Youtube even -- say Lincoln was against rights for blacks. That's because they only read half his quotes and stay clear of others.

  • man, this 803honda sure knows nothing of the true Lincoln. i guess he reads only hateful liberal crap. the death of women and children......where does he get this stuff? it is sad when one listens to a cruel and delussional writer and bases his thoughts on such lies.

  • You help me a lot on the presentation for the debate reenactment. Thank you so much. thank you

  • lincoln killed the voluntary union our founders intended on and replaced it with the evil centralized empire we have now. he encouraged the murder of women and children to do so and imprisoned northern press and politicians who opposed him without trial. he was also greatly in favor of giving taxpayer money to the railroads that employed hiim as a bloodsucking lawyer.

  • @803honda This is the best misinterpretation of Lincoln's principles I have ever seen.

  • @huckstered wrong. This is what Lincoln's full sentiments were. He gave at least 500 speechs, all saying pretty much the same thing: slavery is evil, but there is no way or will to end it where it is. We can stop the spread of slavery -- and that will kill slavery.

Read Lincoln's full speeches, the video clip above very accurately represents his position. The words he uses above is a compilation ---but also very accurate.

  • The greatest President this republic ever had.
