  • The advertiserz and teh ones in control of people magazine were basically making fun of the shit that went down on 9/11. Its plain to see, or were they rally not giving a fuck.Who knows but he was right and was obviously exposing some of that narrative.

  • 21 people thinks Gap should've stick with the 'new' logo ...

  • brilliant

  • This is as entertaining as it is informative. Now that's inspiring.

  • that was a great talk, i loved every moment, he has such great ideas, a great eye for design, and what a great talker! (the car parking note was just class, so funny!) i think there is no doubt he is one of the greatest designers out there! would love to meet him some day!

  • Fantastic, some incredible design.

The People Magazine spread was very eye opening.

  • great designer. he teaches a couple classes at the college i attend.

  • 16:30 When I worked for a newspaper in the advertising department and we received files with missing fonts from agencies, we used to threaten them to replace them with Zapf Dingbats next time they would do that

  • best video so far

  • i think they really really want to u buy a rolex

  • that rolex commercial at the end was pretty intense.

  • Great vid and a very nice resource for designers...Funny too

  • this guy is hilarious! lol

  • Aaaaaa I remember this guy from the Helvetica film, probably the only part of the film I was awake!

  • go rolex!

  • I hate this stuff; it's hard to read.

  • This would have been easier on the eyes if it was done in HD.

  • And in 3D

  • i dont like this video

  • omg that was amazing i wish i could do that but me i know how to do very few thing haha but ya cudos to you ... i think imma try to learn to do that [=

  • so your saying i shouldnt be a test pilot.

  • No, be a test pilot. Someone's gotta do it.

  • Robots.

  • Not yet.

  • More like done 50 years ago.

  • Ahh, so there are robots who can test fly planes intended to be piloted by people? I'd like to have the name of that project, if you don't mind. And please don't say predator because that plane was never intended to be piloted by people, it's merely a bigger RC plane with REAL weapons and longer range.

  • Yes, I mean any R/C or AI controlled plane, since that would not necessitate the need for humans in the plane, would it?

  • The question was about whether test pilots were still needed, not about whether it was possible to fly unmanned aircrafts. I responded in the affirmative, and you contravened with your "robot" response. Unless you're about to claim that you can now use robots in lieu of a human test pilot in a plane that is intended to carry people, I don't see any real disagreements here.

  • Planes can be completely simulated in software, and be flown remotely. I see no further need for real test pilots.

  • "Planes can be completely simulated in software"

Wrong. Software simulations complement REAL world simulations, not replace them "completely." Any aeronautical engineer that's worth his/her salt will confirm this.

    "...and be flown remotely."

This is possible with R/C planes that were never intended or designed to fly human personnel to begin with. In other words, any new plane (ex: A380) that is intended to carry real people (which is a perpetual necessity) will require a HUMAN test pilot.

  • You're not getting it. Physics are very well understood now. Computers are only getting faster. And radios are well understood as well. It's not a huge jump to test a whole plane in software and remotely. Hell, you could practically just test it in X-Plane, and that doesn't calculate any of the strains on the materials or any internals.

  • You seriously don't think the military is testing the next jet fighter on computers right now? You even mentioned UAVs. It's established stuff.

  • "You seriously don't think the military is testing the next jet fighter on computers right now?"

There we go. If you're going to make that claim about what I said, then clearly you have either misread, or intentionally distorted what I said.

Go back. Read it again, carefully this time.

  • Right, you're making a point about airliners, which is mostly about creature comforts. The 747 was built on computers in the 70s. There's nothing magical about physics that it's just impossible to simulate. There may be some human error in which simulations to run, but it's perfectly possible.

  • I don't think you're reading what I'm saying carefully. I'm not implying that our simulation techniques haven't improved, but rather, allowing for the fact that not everything can be simulated, and no new plane will be market worthy until it has REAL world flight data to back it up. This is where test pilots come in.

  • I enjoyed it!

  • that was GREAT! :-D

  • Load the HD versions~!!!

XVX for life, R.A.S.H. 'til death.

  • WUT?

  • PAH! its fruggin David Carson... ...

why can't i type in dingbats on youtube.

  • great work.

  • microsoft got burned

  • What is the purpose? (No purpose)

  • your question proves either two things?

    one you are ignorant.

two you didnt even watch the talk

  • Great talk. Love the Microsoft bashing.

  • amazing, love his work.
