I agree with Derek, give TG USA a chance. TG UK has been on for 15 seasons. The non-studio sequences are quite good and you get a little feel for how the three will be ribbing each other. And honestly, if you go into the show expecting to watch TG UK but with different accents... it needs to be its own show with its own personality. C'mon folks just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

US Top Gear is not that bad. it just needs more charisma, better photography, and some wit. Tons of it, actually. I never see it surpassing Jezza , May and Hamster, but a good attempt IMO. I am warming up the GT5, got it yesterday...

How long does it take to do a normal 7:30 episode starting from the minute you walk in to the time you get to leave? Just curious because it takes many many months even years to make one 2:30 video....
Don't hate on the American Top Gear, like Derek D said its the first episode and its not gona be like the original Top Gear, I thought it was pretty good considering that the only person I really recognize is Tanner Foust. And to everybody that is wondering why it is on the History Channel, it is the only network that they are allowed to comment on any car and make fun of any car without any consequences, BBC2 which the original Top Gear airs on has similar commercials and standards.
The guys top gear USA have no chemistry! Remakes are really never as good as the original and this is the case. Tanner is the best out of all three. The other two need to be replaced.

hey guys, or even anyone. ive been trying to figure this out for a few years now, but still cant. when i first played a sim, i would swerve all over the place. a while later, i got use to countersteering and drifting the things around. now, im trying to imagine what the average non car enthusiast would do when his car's butt starts to slip. i cant imagine it...maybe i should get my dad to play a race and watch. and what SHOULD be done in real life for an underpowered FD/RD car on the highway?
@thewhitenight what happens if your car slides out while on a real road? Well, heres how you learn to control it. You need an empty lot and some rain. after it rains, go to the lot and start making the car slide. Find the sweet spots of countersteer and get accustomed to controlling a drift. There is 1 or 2 programs in the US where they have skidpads and they teach you how to react correctly when it happens. Most people just slam on the brakes, lock up their wheels, and well... lose control
@thisishellagay but what if the car you happen to be driving is a FWD car, or even a RWD without enough power on a dry surface. i guess a car could slip with 2 tires running over a manhole or something...would it be best to try to drift it? or find a safe way to stop?
@thewhitenight RWD you should drift it. I'd do it for fun even! FWD.. hmm. I dont drive FWD much but I would probably say just off the gas and brake and try to countersteer. till you regain your grip. FWD would be a bit tougher to lost control of the rear, so if you lose control of the front.. well, I guess ease on the E brake to stop is what i'd do. that would slow down the rear wheels enough (normal brakes usually are 3x harder on the front than rear)
@thewhitenight thats a good idea. my dad slid on the freeway with a FWD toyota. i actually drive a FWD car as well with no power. if i slip, say back end swings to left, so i should slowly ease on the brakes and steer the wheel to the left more so than it already is turning? then after the tires catch, i just swing it back straight real quick? i dont want to get it wrong (hope ill never have to try). what if the wall was at the left (or right) with not a lot of room. sry for beating a dead horse
The US TopGear *is* better than the British TG, except it goes by a different name and only has one host instead of three, and does not actually air on TV at all
It's also better than Fifth Gear, which is more or less like the original TG

what Tog gear US and to a lesser extent FLD is that Americans don't understand European cars, TG:US called a Aston Martin Vanquish V12 a "Hot Rod" what that shows is how little Americans understsn what cars are, all they seem to understand is power, V8's and the 1/4 mile. Yeah, american Top Gear will never be as good as the BBC version of Top Gear, it's just sad to see that they're doing similar segments. They should just do their own things instead of trying to copy the BBC version. I'll be surprised if it makes it past a season!

hey guys, or even anyone. ive been trying to figure this out for a few years now, but still cant. when i first played a sim, i would swerve all over the place. a while later, i got use to countersteering and drifting the things around. now, im trying to imagine what the average non car enthusiast would do when his car's butt starts to slip. i cant imagine it...maybe i should get my dad to play a race and watch. and what SHOULD be done in real life for an underpowered FD/RD car on the highway?

@thewhitenight what happens if your car slides out while on a real road? Well, heres how you learn to control it. You need an empty lot and some rain. after it rains, go to the lot and start making the car slide. Find the sweet spots of countersteer and get accustomed to controlling a drift. There is 1 or 2 programs in the US where they have skidpads and they teach you how to react correctly when it happens. Most people just slam on the brakes, lock up their wheels, and well... lose control

@thisishellagay but what if the car you happen to be driving is a FWD car, or even a RWD without enough power on a dry surface. i guess a car could slip with 2 tires running over a manhole or something...would it be best to try to drift it? or find a safe way to stop?

@thewhitenight RWD you should drift it. I'd do it for fun even! FWD.. hmm. I dont drive FWD much but I would probably say just off the gas and brake and try to countersteer. till you regain your grip. FWD would be a bit tougher to lost control of the rear, so if you lose control of the front.. well, I guess ease on the E brake to stop is what i'd do. that would slow down the rear wheels enough (normal brakes usually are 3x harder on the front than rear)

@thewhitenight thats a good idea. my dad slid on the freeway with a FWD toyota. i actually drive a FWD car as well with no power. if i slip, say back end swings to left, so i should slowly ease on the brakes and steer the wheel to the left more so than it already is turning? then after the tires catch, i just swing it back straight real quick? i dont want to get it wrong (hope ill never have to try). what if the wall was at the left (or right) with not a lot of room. sry for beating a dead horse

The US TopGear *is* better than the British TG, except it goes by a different name and only has one host instead of three, and does not actually air on TV at all
It's also better than Fifth Gear, which is more or less like the original TG

Still don't like the us top gear. I get they are trying to to be UK top gear down to every not to subtle rip off, and I get they have to find there groove and what not, but i think it will never work here cause UK top gear is three guys that where TV and radio first then car guys and US top gear are car guys and a racing driver that happened to get some TV time though Adam is funny. maybe it will work, hope it does works, cause i cancel my BBC channel.

what Tog gear US and to a lesser extent FLD is that Americans don't understand European cars, TG:US called a Aston Martin Vanquish V12 a "Hot Rod" what that shows is how little Americans understsn what cars are, all they seem to understand is power, V8's and the 1/4 mile. Will i watch future episolds of TR:US? no chance, it needs a serious change in the content to make me look at it again.

I disagree with the 'chill out' remark. I agree that it was a short, first part review, that they didn't get enough time to check the game out. But precisely for that reason the bald ignorant should've taken JFs stance: comment on it, don't criticize it. A lot of people put a lot of effort into that for 6 years, just so some bald asshole who's famous for driving fast can look at it and say he prefers F1 2010, one of the most bugged, rushed out pieces of crap the industry's ever seen.
