  • I got this book for Christmas! I'm working towards becoming an animator for Disney, hopefully 2D animation will still continue going on, especially after The Princess and the Frog and Pooh Bear. I have nothing against 3D animation at all but 2D animation is where it all started, with the help of a mouse.

  • disney used to be all magical and enchanting

  • One fact that's kept secret is this came out when the studio fell on hard times. Sept. 1979 Don Bluth lead 11 eleven staff member off the lot delaying The Fox & the Hound's release followed by a strike by the remaining staff and the resigning of producer Ron Miller and it would take a decade for the company to recoop it loss.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this! I especially loved that little bit in the end where they show concept art for "Black Cauldron" I'd never seen before.

  • great!

  • put the captions on her name is Hate Emails lol

  • I bet that everyone who wants to study Character Animation is because of Tim Burton i know i do.

  • Hayley was smoking hot as she got older.

  • AYElanwee? Or EiLONwy?

  • 2D animation was, is and always will be one of the greatest ways to make a film.

  • 0:51- Oh Hayley, you may have matured a little, but it's worth it!

  • Yes there are many i guss. Who dingily want to work in disney. Or be a great animator. N I am one of then i want it so badly since i was 17. but it's only now from last year i acutely doing something to follow my dream. I have joined an animation institute last year only.

ANd every thing in this felled is so exited as i have dreamed of. but it's heard to get the right path all the time.

  • I saw this movie back in 88 about 3 times in it's re-issue and cried, i even bought it when it finally took it's sweet ass long time to come to video at age 12.

  • Too bad Hayley Mills didn't voice Eilonwy, I'm sure she would have made a great voice.

  • @disneyinuyamon She couldn't have beat Susan Sheridan's charming voice?

  • Isn't this Once Upon A Mouse?

  • Isn't this One Upon A Mouse?

  • I NEVER Get tired of watching these TREASURES. and WHY television of today ignores this is beyond me. Thanks to YOUTUBERS for keeping this ALIVE!

  • The Fox and the Hound makes me cry!! But I still love it.

  • As a kid seeing all the cartoons I wanted to be an animator at walt disney studios, however, things have changed there

  • I love Pearl Bailey.

  • Since I was a teenager I wanted to work for disney animation. Even though it paid like $12. My dreams smashed by the socialist facist Bush trash that is destroying America and the fat lazy trash that supported it.

  • I really hope the Walt Disney Company hasn't thrown these old programs in the trash. I would love to see a Vault Disney Channel, because it's pretty obvious that the teeny bopper culture isn't going away.

  • she said they didnt want all 5' 4" of her, they just wanted her voice. I will take all 5'4" of her tho, I always wanted all 5'4" of her

  • OMG!!! They "no no" movie got a TV special!!! Why oh why did Disney forsake you Black Cauldron? Oh that slump era... I certainly hope the one that's going on now doesn't kill their animation... hoping Princess and the Frog will get the magic ball rolling again...

  • I want to be a voice artist for Disney, voice acting look so fun, I have watched enough Disney movies ever since I can remember, and I think I could do it, I am 26 years old, so I have a rich developed voice, I am a singer I started voice lessons age age 5 so, I can speak clearly and sing clearly as well, my teacher was from Juliard so I had the best! WHERE DO I SIGN!

By the way, I love Hayley Mills, so is so cute, what a beautfiul woman, I love her voice!

  • I want to work for disney as well. Didn't the host in this program also play on saved by the bell.

  • Yes, Hayley Mills played Miss Bliss in an older version of Saved by the Bell. Originally it was going to be about a teacher and her students, Hayley being that teacher. The characters became popular enough that the show was retooled so it would be based around them, and the rest is 80's sitcom history

  • same for here !

  • i wunna work for disney so badly, i know i could.... guess i just have to continue working as hard as i already am, is there anybody else out there that wants to be a disney artist like me?????

  • I really want to be a Disney artist, I have this thing with animation and I love Disney films.

lol, So I guess I want to be a disney artist just as much as you do! ^^

  • If only I could draw I would die to make my own Fantasia! Good luck, hopefully I will be enjoying your animations in the future - do not disappoint me! xXx

  • ME ME ME ME ME!!! I DO I DO I DO!!!

I spend all my free time working on animation cels of my favorite scenes of all my favorite disney movies and making backgrounds for it. also workin on animated short...sort of tribute to the great walt disney and disney heritage....

so i guess you can say...yes, i want to be a disney artist like you :D

  • ever since i was little I have been facinated with Disney. I still am. My dream for a couple years now has been to work on a Disney film. It is the only thing I have ever wanted to do.

  • @TheArtistAddict: nah... Disney sucks now.

  • @TheArtistAddict i do! since i was 2! literally! but it will be a lot harder for me since i live...."farther than you've travelled, I'm sure..." but i do have the skill...just needs a loooot more hard work and learning!

  • @TheArtistAddict The reason Disney hasn't hired you is because you're not good enough - plain and simple.

  • @TheArtistAddict Right back at you!

  • @TheArtistAddict

Me! I so want to be an artist for them. Thats my dream.

  • @TheArtistAddict I did but the trash that supported bush and was depicted in Mine Fuerer has destroyed America and its dreams.

  • @TheArtistAddict

I'm right there with you!!! XD

  • @TheArtistAddict i wanna work at disney too.. are you an animator?

  • @TheArtistAddict i do very much so im in school right now for three animation but i have invested just as much time as i do in 2D

  • @TheArtistAddict I would have loved to work for them while they still created 2D animations, though now it seems everyone is turning to 3D, trying to catch up with PIXAR. I wish someone would continue 2D; hand-drawn animation is an art.

  • @TheArtistAddict I do so much. Drawing has been my passion for my entire life. Ive always loved Disney and the wonderful animation they do. Its my dream

  • @TheArtistAddict i dont really want to work for disney per say, but i do want to be a great animator someday, disney just doesnt seem like tha way for me. Still.. i hope it works out for you and ill be praying that it does

  • @TheArtistAddict Absolutely

  • @TheArtistAddict Go apply to Cal Arts if you are in high school. Otherwise build up a portfolio, get your stuff in festivals, or apply for internships at the animation studios. You can make you dreams happen if you have the courage to pursue them.

  • @TheArtistAddict Learn to spell first

  • They really didn't do the Black Cauldron right.

There's nothing distinct about it, Gurgi the only memorable character is laid to waste as an after thought only to reappear at the end of the movie.

  • i think it was the only film jeff katzenberg made before the transition out of disney. That just shows how much he sucks!

  • Why don't they air this stuff on Disney anymore, teen junk replaced Vault Disney how stupid.

  • @realar One word: RATINGS

  • @ESLinstructor1 Damn you demographic I hate you!!

  • Thank you!!

  • Can you please upload the theme song to this episode?

  • 01:57 Reminds me of Cars by Pixar.

  • cars was based on that style. you should watch the behind the scenes! BTW there's a another dvd about the illusion of life and frank and ollie life called "Frank and Ollie" is really awesome!!!

  • Yeah, I did.

Yes, I saw it twice and loved it, along with the bonus features. Wow, I have lots of time on my hands.

  • I would think Walt would be too busy to take her on a guided tour.

  • i think he was dead by then

  • yea he died in 67 and this video was made in 81 according to the title so yea about a good 15 20 years i think

  • he died in 66 (dec. 15)

  • At 1:57, Hey! Cars! Pixar knows their stuff!

  • Then as now? Ms.Hayley Mills is still a beautiful and talented

    and caring person.

BTW:her last Walt Disney film was:"The Black

    Cauldron!".

  • I heard that Pearl Bailey's character was first developed as a crow. I think it was nixed after she said, "I ain't gonna be no crow."

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOD i remember that, i whatch this 30 years ago and decide to be an animator

  • I remember that special, Hayley Mills was 30 years old where she hosted that, she did 5 Disney films, and then went to other films like "The Trouble With Angels" along with other British films like "The Family Way", "Twisted Nerve", a horror film and so many other foreign films. She went back to Disney in 1981 for that special.

  • actually 34-35

  • Hayley Mills was later replaced by Susan Sheridan for the voice Eilonwy. The reason for the change is unknown.

  • Yeah talk about generic.

They REALLY did a boo boo with that film.
