ALSO...'the few english that bother to go to america'. Four million english go to the US each year. That's 8%, or 1/12 of the population. That's like 26 million americans visiting the UK (the entire population of New York state).
funny thing is, the only place i have ever been in america is florida, same with all my friends with the exception of one who has also been to new york
Do you think that we should adpot american English to make your life easier. Do you also think that all Brits are booze heads? You are a guest in the UK and you insult it. Go home yank.
That was really interesting :) I just want to say that I'm English and I've only been to Los Angeles and Seattle over on the west coast, but I know what you mean about Florida and New York, English love to go there. Seattle was awesome, I've been twice and the experience was kinda familiar and exotic at the same time, I guess because of the distance, y'know? One thing that always cracks me up is how utterly evil English place names are for foreigners to pronounce!
regardless of the difference in economics, politics and culture, it is a fundamental fact that the USA and the UK alike are 2 of the best countries on the planet. I hate it when i come across videos and see some idiot saying something like "our country is better than yours''. I've been to America and submerged myself in the culture to experience what its like to be American and it made the summer of 2007 the best summer i've ever had! and i can't wait to go again.... and no it wasn't Florida lol
i think you will find that most of us go on dates i mean i had a girlfriend for one and a half years and we did more than "pull all the time" lol. i think maybe the guys you are around just want sex and not a relationship at the moment. i am sure many americans are the same too.
@BrianKizzle Yes in NYC it took me a lot of Bud ( at 3% ) to get just as drunk as I would here. 3% THREE! So I tried a Manhattan, when in Rome I thought, nice enough drink but it took a lot to get pissed. A lot! Where do you have your washing machine? Where is a better place than in the kitchen?
holy shit, you got the whole florida - step one thing spot on! how did you know lol basically we have steps here, 1. Florida 2. New York 3. Boston 4. Miami and i doubt i have ever seen an english person in all my life get past step 4. DO MORE VIDEOS ON UK lol they make me laugh mate
I generally dont like Americans, but, that was a good video that shows Americans in a good light to be clever, witty and humourous. The complete opposite of the majority that I have experienced and so based my opinion on.
@13r1tish over two-thirds of Americans are overweight: one-third are considered "obese". For every child born after the year 2000, 1 in 3 will develop Type 2 Diabetes. For minorities (non-whites), that number is 1 in 2. Health in America is directly tied to income, as healthier foods are much more expensive than junk food. The difference between the prices at Wal-Mart and Whole Foods is alarming. However, physical exercise doesn't require money, so people have no one blame but themselves. x
Nice work Brian - it's always interesting to hear how other people see us.
Please bear in mind though that most of the observations you make are based on a student life and therefore a student culture. This does not mirror the actual everyday life.
This thing about people being inherently lazy actually goes against European studies that show British people are just about the most under-paid and over-worked of all of the EU communities - we have fewer holidays and do more hours per week.
ok..ok ok....england isnt lazy, your just saying that cuz you were probably hangin around with a bunch of chavs..and i dunno where you stayed because in england the things we hate the most are outsiders (e.g paki's), journalists and beeing bored
if your british like me youll agree if your british and you dont..then your a filthy paki
Oh fecking lol "checkout staff are lazy and do not back your backs"
Fecking hell your the lazy one dear >.> Its supposed to be faster if you pack and the checkout helps you pack. Your a able-bodied man if a old fella/lady or a young kid comes around checkout staff are REQUIRED to assist them fully. I mean WTF are you supposed to do if you are not packing bags? Play around on a snazzy gameboy? : / Make a phone call and look important? jesus christ you lazy git that got me fired up xD
We are supposed to spend it on study and personal progression as peeps in Britain are expected to mature faster. The average age for someone to be out there working now is 16-18. I'm sorry dear but the American culture that you came from is a very pampered and protected way of growing up. You don't get that here save the Queens English areas. We get a shorter amount of classes because we are expected to work out of class. And get work experience.
@Unit06JAW I've been grilled for generalizing in these videos, but I must admit: I think about 80% of American students would fail Uni in the UK because they aren't driven enough to do school work out of class. x
@BrianKizzle tbh about 90% of British kids fail at the school system here aswell. You do need that drive, places like Japan and America do a good job of forcing kids through school for better or worse.
Australia and many european countries has the system I previousally explained.
Kids here are a bit more relaxed about the whole education affair and tend to get to working and raising a family very early.
Oh and people in shopping centres where I live always offer to pack your bags for you, I always decline, how damn lazy is that needing someone to pack your shopping bags. FGS I'm not a child.
I really resent you saying that students are lazy, don't generalise so much. I am a student and I work bloody hard, with 20 + hours a week not including all the coursework and extra reading that I need to do. Between Oct-Jan I never had any free time. It would have been impossible to have a job, I was working late into the night every night. Its got better recently I get a bit of free time though still not enough to work.
As for money, a lot of students have to fund themselves, I worked for a year before going to uni. Loans DONT cover everything, my loans barely pay accomodation or tuition fees and we have to pay them all back, that means students are getting out of uni with about 20,000 pounds worth of debt :(
You are acting like people are giving money away to us which is just not true. Please think before you generalise so horribly.
@OmgPanda1 glad you saw something positive about it. I'm amazed this guy is saying that there's such huge diversity in Britain and then he's putting us all in the same boat.
Whats up, U.S. in the house. Or on your page thingy. I find your video to be fascinating. Is there any chance in hell someone without money can find a way to study in Europe? I've only been to Holland once. I always click more with people who are from other countries than with other Americans.
thank you a video about england made by an american that makes me proud to be british and ye your right it is a small country with over 68,000,000 people living in it and the university loans over here are quite big my cousin got one for about £15,000
This guy is funny! Think he might just be living in his own sweet little bubble over here. What ppl need to realise is that you cannot generalise a country and I definitely don't believe that us English r lazy.OK Maybe the students that r living off mummy and daddy. One generalisation I think is safe to make though is that Great Britain is a nation of drinkers and we love it!!! :)
lol that was pretty funny. I completed USA stage 1 twice and ready for stage 2 NY. Yea brits dont hate americans, far from it. Its just seen as cool in the media to pretend we hate them.
although dont agree with 10-12 hrs of uni a week being considered a lot over here, science degrees are usually 20-30, 10-12 is normally if you have alot of reading to do for the degree - like an english lit BA.
Before I moved to England, I had 21 hours of class time a week, two jobs which ranged 35-55 hours a week, plus I was in five student organizations. And I still found the time to drink myself silly. Granted, I didn't know anyone who did as much as I did.
My usage of the word "lazy" was meant to mean at a slower place-- the length of breaks at work, the length of shifts, etc, in relation to America-- a systemic ease of pace, not individuals screwing around. You are certainly NOT lazy in my eyes.
@BrianKizzle ignore him mate, some english people like to start arguements for NO reason lol eg if they feel like they are being attacked, they will fight back on auto-pilot lol and that made me laugh so hard about washing machine in kitchen, i thought that was normal lol mine is in my kitchen aswell??? i dno man. kool vid
dude your a tat bit obsessed with alcohol. the washmachine remark made me laugh soo much .:) Its cos houses are smaller ! and all uk students arnt loaded ! We just dont have the culture of having a 'college fund'.
@adamidus he didn't say it was British law to have a passport smart one. He said that it's necessary to have one because countries in Europe are very close to one another.
oh ok my bad dude maybe i heard it wrong, but i still think the guy's image of our country is wrong, i know plenty of americans that love the UK and dont have a bad thing to say about it, apart from our pretty violent nightlife and kiddy gangs in cities, but where in the world doesnt have that?
i love the way he's generalising us british by saying we're too polite, that we're not outspoken, there are about 70million of us, you havent met us all yet! entertaining video, naive but entertaining........
exactly bartapian, i like my job, i like working, i earn good money in return for around 70 hours of my time per week, i am not by any means lazy, , the wider picture has not been considered, and it's his view, which he is entitled to, saying that the british "feel" like they need to be polite is weird, but have u researched the murder stats for both countries? america = around 11,500 murders per year and britain = around 300, even considering population, these figures are staggering....
population in america is around 260,000,000 and britain is around 70,000,000, and just look at the size of the US compared to UK in terms of land mass, if our country was the size of the US, and we were as densely populated as we are now, sociology expert say the population would be in excess of 1.5 billion people, thats amazing. and i bet we would still have less murders, i love the UK just the way it is, ok apart from a few things, but everywhere has its ups and downs.......
I doubt the murder comment. The reason why we have so many is because a larger country is harder to govern. Also, Great Britain is an island. Mexican and South American drug cartels cause a lot of crime in the South West. A lot of the crime in this country is because of drugs and drug gangs.
this guy has lived there for seven months, im pretty sure hes got the jist...and to call all "americans ignorant". you seem to be the stereotypical brit
Soooo true about you being able to pull off any outfit :P ... The Flaming Ho topped it off for me! Bri bri, you've MADE my first 7 months at uni stand-out amazing. What would I do if I couldn't come to your wealth of american dating knowledge?!
