  • Lovely stuff. And from an album knocking on the door for greatest of all-time accolade.

  • I chose this for our graduating song back then...'72.

    Wasn't chosen of course.

    Answer...Too Underground!

  • I have so much to talk about this album but it is very difficult to find words that reach the extent of my admiration ... No comments!

  • keith Moon owned that! Best Drummer of all time.

  • You would think after "Tommy," The Who would coast or they were just spent. How could they have more great songs? How? Instead, The Who come out with an album with equally monster sized songs -- just as good as "Tommy," if not better because this was a single album with no filler. These songs are all anthems of the rock generation. I was quite pleased and impressed with "Tommy," but when this came out I could just shake my head in admiration. The punks are gone, The Who are still standing.

  • @lastrada52 this is waaaaaayyyy better than Tommy.

  • @tulllguy - Well then...we agree? Waaaaaayyyyy better.

  • @lastrada52 If I could just point something out: The songs on "Tommy" aren't just filler for songs like "Pinball Wizard" or "See Me, Feel Me" or "I'm Free"; They're parts of a story. Having said that, Pete was just starting to write operas, so on later works like 'Lifehouse"(which remained uncompleted and had this song as its finale) or "Quadrophenia" didn't contain as many shorter songs like "There's a Doctor" or "It's a Boy"

  • two points to ponder:

#1) as far as the title of the LP, that summer i heard it by accident in my car because it was the only cassette in there that summer, i, me, mr. rkt, was NEXT!!

#2) i sing my heart out to the infinite sea, the sky high mountains, to the FREE!

  • its a real revelation to see how good this still is , heard it the fisrt time back in 72? any way i used to listen till the groves wore out on my record player,

  • By far, the most underrated song on one of the greatest rock albums ever. Sheer genius.

  • To me, every song on this LP was a life changing event...

  • I like THE WHO!!!....

  • Wonderful song that I ever listen. It has everything

  • this was probably the best one on this album. Nicky Hopkins on piano.

  • If anyone asks me what my favorite album is, it is "Who's Next". And they are one of my very favorite bands too. This is the most underrated album of all time and their best from beginning to end. I have turned many on this the album.

  • @kingpintoo I prefer Tommy but I love this as well.

  • @kingpintoo I don't think it's underrated at all. It's got Baba O'Riley and Won't get Fooled Again which are two of their best known songs. But I agree it's one of their best if not their best album.

  • I like the Who a lot but they are not among my favorite 6 or 7 of all time.

That being said, this is the greatest most underrated albums of all time.

It's too bad more people haven't discovered it.

  • love this song!

  • thanks for bringing the great selections from who's next..such a monster album.

  • wow, i love it.

  • Keith Moon-Best drummer ever-period!!!!!!!!!!

  • @funincenmd Not even close. Total slop. How Townshend put up with him puzzles.

  • @TruthAxe wow-no kidding?

  • roger sounds like pete in every part besides the chorus, mabey its just me.

  • @rapidJesse that's because pete is singing the verses, and roger is singing the choruses.

  • @TheJewkat412 I realized that a little bit after i posted the comment. The reason i love this album (whos next) Is that pete Put so much effort into it, As usual the rest of the band were top knotch too. Petes singing in this album showed when bands work together, they can pull off any kind of song or album.

    The power of bandShip :D

  • "Awesome post 1MM1...Keep up the good work!"

  • one of the best songs ever

  • "Thanks!"

  • "I realize that this song is a bit aged....It is still a great tune compared to what is played today...Some songs (like this one) are timeless!"

  • Roger is a great singer but is that him singing now or was this 40 years ago?

  • @TonyJenRock1 I agree that Roger is a great vocalist but the one who was singing in the beginning was Peter. This song was sung by both Daltrey and Townshend. I too was baffled on who was singing but then I quickly recognize Pete's voice but I had to look it up on wikipedia to confirm it.

  • @aamigon21 you're right it sounds like Peter then they sing together then you hear Peter sing alone again....very sweet song.... always loved it.....then you hear Daltrey pretty much alone really cool how they went back and forth.

  • @TonyJenRock1 I know right? So lovely those are. Now they're aging and doesn't seem to have the same energy as before but they kept going to this day. Makes me cry a little ;___;

  • @aamigon21 it still has the same energy its a master piece, and a master piece in any place in time is a master piec, with exactly the same energy as it started with! :)

  • @TonyJenRock1 Lol I mean so lovely they are XD

  • Thank U 1michelemichele1 :D

  • The only reason that Roger was in the band was so that Pete could concentrate on his guitar.

  • Well no, at first Pete didn't thought he was that good of s singer, when he met Roger he was amazed by his voice, and they made the first album...

  • WOW

  • wow. i forgot how much i like this song. sigh...

  • Some of my fav Who songs feature Pete singing instead of Roger. Go figger.

  • This is daltry through and through

  • Best song off the whole album. Yes, I dare say that!

  • at 5:40 Keith delivers one of the greatest drum solos in the history of rock and roll

  • i honestly dont see whats so special about it. its just some toms and crash cymbal. have you ever heard the wont get fooled again drum solo?

  • yah wtf? lol

  • No... But in Won't Get Fooled Again that drum solo in the keyboard part, was actually very influential, which is shocking to me, lol!

  • Great high qua;ity sound..heard things I've never heard on my old cassette. Thanks
