Many of the things mentioned here are not "socialist" at all, merely collaborative non-prophet entities or technologies which happened to be partially developed by government agencies.
However, I think the argument is essentially--
Government currently has monopolies on certain services.
You use many of these services provided by the government.
Therefore, you should support government monopolies or else you are a hypocrite.
Infact, if the state nationalised my favourite icecream company, and I continued eating that brand of icecream, that would make me a hypocrit and a proponent of socialism!
Great argument, those fundie conservatards are fucking retards. Something is paid for by the government, therefore it could ONLY have been paid for by the government, theyre idiots!
@Ilikenuman@ProportionalResponse - Very strange argument that Proportional is giving here, I like to call it "the argument from existence". It's a complete non-sequitur, free-marketers generally think that these things would be better off left to the market, simply pointing at these things and saying that they exist is dishonest and completely ignores the argument. If socialists want to have credibility, they should argue for the superiority of the state in offering these services.
@Ilikenuman@ProportionalResponse - Imagine if the state had a monopoly on cupcakes. Free-marketers would say that the state monopoly on cupcakes is bad because it lacks the profit-loss feedback mechanism, leading to improper allocation of resources, and it would lack the incentive to offer a good service. It would be retarded to say "THE STATE OFFERS CUPCAKES, SO FUCK YOU, YOU BOURGEOIS ANTI-CUPCAKE PIG!", because it would be ignoring the arguments given by free-marketers.
Oh my goodness me! You Americans are a bunch of government dependant, socialist, commies pinkos!
Pinkoes? Pink Ohs! I have no idea how to it should be spelt.
