  • I don't get why you think not believing in joseph smith and that not making you mormon makes a big problem. Joseph smith established this church by command from god, if he's not a prophet then don't join and it's fine. I don't get what the problem is. Why if you don't believe in joepgh smith and not being mormon makes a difference between christians and us?

  • Good for you for sticking up for the Biblical Jesus! (the ONLY one who can save us from damnation ) Great job on your witness too.... under the pressure of the situation I feel you did a pretty good job - you hit on some key points that would make them think as well, without making them feel as if you were insulting their beliefs, yet, again, you stood by the true Christ. Great way of sneaking in the video - Ive wondered if even they know all their founders teachings. God bless you!

  • Well, after watching all Three parts I think this guy got more than he bargined for. :-) If you think about it, in every religion if you believe in your faith, you will say that your religion is the right regligion and others will question that fact. So why debate it? As pointed out in the video, every religion is different, but similar. Just keep in mind we are all born on this Earth and are part of a bigger picture, called humanity.

  • @ElendilAndAragorn there is no good without evil (such as suffering), and 'good' people go to heaven so one of the ways to be a good person is to help those who are suffering, as I see it it's a test whether you go to heaven or not. - that's my explanation of why god allows suffering

  • @jayhant Mormons say they believe in the Bible (the KJV) so why do you say "good" people go to heaven?? This is clearly written in Romans 3: 10) As it is written , There is none righteous, no, not one 11) There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12) They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no not one. So youre wrong about that.Only those who believe in the'Biblical'Jesus as their saviour go to Heaven.

  • 2:54 squanto ..........LOL LOL LOL!!!!

  • Where are the missionaries at? Where is part 1? Let me find it.

  • LSD

  • The right denomination is not "mormon" is L D S

    L D S !!

  • What about the MAGIC UNDERWEAR??

  • The difference between Mormanism and Christianity is Jesus Christ. One believes Jesus is God who became flesh and dwelt among us as the *only* begotten Son--it believes the bible which says ALL things were created through Him/Jesus, whether visible or invisible (this includes angels). The other religion believes Jesus and Satan are brothers, meaning that Jesus did *not* create Satan but instead is his brother. Two different Jesus', they are NOT the same Jesus. We must choose who we will follow.

  • @boltingpuppies If you're "following",you've got screw loose.There is no god..allah,jehovah,vishnu,jahweh

its all bullshit designed to keep the simpleminded in line

  • @toobularbells You are wrong about there being no God. He is "I AM". He created you and loves you very much...in fact, He loves you so much that He became flesh, lived among us and died in your place (to pay the price for sinning against Him).

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

  • @boltingpuppies Say i went back in time, and changed a lot of stuff in the bible, for example i could say "Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in pain."in place of what PROVERBS 31:6 says. Or, "And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness" — ISAIAH 34:7 Or,"And if ur right eye offends you, rip it out, & throw it away."MATTHEW 5:29 Oh wait,it actually says that!

  • @ElendilAndAragorn But still, anyone could go back and change everything so it defines idiocy , and christians would still believe it.

    What does that tell you?

  • @ElendilAndAragorn It tells me that someone who believes the old testament has been changed is ignorant of it's history, meaning how it was written by the scribes, the rituals, how the old scrolls discovered in the Qumron (sp) cave that were exactly the same as our modern copies, particularly Isaiah. I seriously researched the bible and it's history as well as how it has lined up with non-biblcial historical facts including other cultures---which is also why I know the book of Mormon is a lie.

  • @boltingpuppies When did i say i believed it was changed?

    Just want to know....

If god is all loving, why does he allow suffering?

  • @ElendilAndAragorn Wasn't that explained in Eden?

  • @boltingpuppies shut the fuck up ypu simple-minded moron

  • it doesn't matter. regardless, mischaracterizations of what mormons believe (and often blatant lies) is unkind and it is unchristian. mormons are mostly good people that believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, including LOVE ONE ANOTHER!!! that is what it is all about and we as christians should not be spreading lies or distorting the facts to hurt sincere people.

  • @bridtm ...this is the problem with universalism - loving one another requires telling the TRUTH in LOVE. Christian who understand that biblical Christianity and the mormon religion have no commonality try and tell you the truth, because they LOVE you. And as for sincereity - take buddists - nice people - absolutely sincere. Also absolutely, sincerely WRONG. We tell them the TRUTH not to hurt them but to see them SAVED. Wake up and smell the GOSPEL!

  • "A dog barks when his master is attacked. I would be a coward if I saw that God’s truth is attacked and yet would remain silent." - John Calvin

  • Hahahahaha *Deep breath* So funny!

  • I am grateful to be LDS. It changed my life for the better. The Gospel of Jesus Christ can help everyone feel more at peace with their lives and with their fellow man. In this age of trouble and pressures and difficulty, don't reject the offer of God to help you have a better life!

  • @ImLDSRU2 Ed decker is seriously ill of late, and will soon go face the truth. His family will no doubt bury him face down, because its where is headed.

  • @LDS4Life71 His actions have resulted in the deaths of innocent people. This will weigh heavily upon him.

  • Mormonism and Christianity are totally DIFFERENT! Mormonism is a man made religion from the 1800s with totally different scripture and doctrine. Now they want to say they are Christian?

Mormonism is NOT Christian. Mormonism believes is many gods.

If Mormons want to become Christians, there is good news! They still can be...

  • @rickgigliotti You say that Mormonism and Christianity are totally different because Mormonism is a man-made religion from the 1800's--So what? Christianity is a man-made religion from 2000 years ago, when people were even more atavistic, scared and ignorant than they are now. It's ALL man-made, or at the very least diluted, from being filtered through human (and therefore fallible) scribes. Just be a good person and live an honest life; Why do you NEED to be told what to do by any religion?!

  • the lolz...without missionaries where would we get them?

  • Are Mormon missionaries told not to speak on camera? They are clearly not equipped to deal with his concerns and the guy making the video is being less than honest, I'm sure the Elders could sense a trap but they soldiered on admirably

  • @rd1999 this video is filmed by a built in cam on a laptop. They did not know they were being filmed, so he wasn't gonna keep it pointed at them.

  • well done and said your parents raised you well. You should check out orthodox Christianity there are a lot of vids here on youtube do a search and learn of the true ways of the Christian.

  • You would have to be gullible and susceptible to brainwashing to take the book of Mormon seriously.

  • "For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is Gods gift-Not from works, so no man can bost." Ephesians 4:2 All false gospels add works to grace. Mormans state, "For we know that it is by grace that we have been saved, after all that we do." 2 Nephi 25:23

  • Joseph Smith was a racist con-man.

  • Those missionaries did a nice job.

  • Why does everyone hate us because we are lds??

Wat did we do to you?

  • Your religion is a scam, and native americans are not descendants of jews, you don't translate by using seer stones and looking into a hat, and hebrews would use hebrew to write and not 'reformed egyptian' Joseph smith admitted to recieving revelations from the devil when he sent 2 men to Canada to sell the copyright 4 the book of mormon and they didn't. He was wrong about 60 of his 65 'prophecies', he married 11 other mens wives, 2-14 year olds and hid his polygamy. He was an evil conman & perv

  • Go to live science com website to see the nov. 2007 article called First Americans All from Siberia, Study Confirms

New genetic evidence, however, backs up a chilly northwestern arrival to North America from Siberia about 12,000 years ago, via a temporary land bridge spanning the Bering Strait. The findings further challenge an alternative idea that humans sprinkled in to both North and South America on open sea voyages 30,000 years in the past.

  • @solomanspaming Mormons would have to admit that any Hebrew blood introduced into the Americas came from people who arrived 2,600 years ago. The Book of Mormon also claims a group from Babel in Iraq came to America about 4K years ago. It says nothing about the Americas being populated prior to that but clearly there have been people here for over 10K years from Asia and make up the majority of native Americans. Vikings may have mixed with tribes in the North.

  • Good Stuff Bro exposing those bastards.

  • Twisted Morons...Mormonism is not happiness. It is lies.

  • @TubeNumber1USA That's all fine and well that you have a copy. Do you understand it? If the LDS church did not trust the Bible then why would we use it at all? Why do we study it every Sunday? Why do we say it is the word of God? Naturally, it has to be interpreted correctly in order to be the word of God. The Bible itself says so. There is absolutely no contradiction in that. Best of luck in Happy Valley.

  • @TubeNumber1USA I have no doubt that they're not happy about the lies being told about the church on YouTube (and anywhere else for that matter) if that's what you're talking about. The crazy thing is, people actually believe the stuff. As for concern that the church would "fold in one generation" as you put it, why don't you provide a direct quote and source? I'm afraid your interpretations are doing you, or anyone else, no favors.

  • @TubeNumber1USA Simple, 100% consistent. The fact that you've never read it and are making comments about it is what's fishy to me.

  • @TubeNumber1USA That's an interesting opinion. Can't say that I would agree.

  • @TubeNumber1USA I'm not sure the "LDS hierarchy" is fighting the internet. In fact they're embracing it. Loads of videos on YouTube by members of the church.

  • With or without their religious beliefs these kids are cocksuckers

  • stupid babtists

  • christians=fools

    mormon=fools

    there is no real distinction.

  • I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor JESUS ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet...When they can get rid of me, the devil will also go." (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408, 409) - Joseph Smith PART 2

  • @Genscocougar I've never heard that quote. Not saying he didn't say it, I've just never heard it. Let's assume he did say it though, what I read that to mean goes hand in hand with the occurrence of the Great Apostasy. If it did happen, as many Christian church believe, then it would be factually correct. A bit arrogant but factually correct. That's my 2 cents on the fly though and having no other context whatsoever.

  • Comment removed

  • LDS was started by who? Joseph Smith. Christianity was started by who? The followers of CHRIST.....I think I will stick with the followers of the son of GOD.

  • @Genscocougar During Christ's mortal ministry he formed the Church of Jesus Christ. After He was crucified and after the martyrdom of his 12 apostles, the earth went through a period of disbelief known as the Great Apostasy. As a result, Mormons believe Jesus Christ restored his church to the earth through Joseph Smith. the Church of Jesus Christ to be restored to the earth. Joseph was the vehicle just as God has always revealed his word to his prophets (similar to Moses, Adam, Isaiah, etc)

  • To your second question, the answer is we simply don't know really. At least I've not come across that in church doctrine.

To your third point, the "dark skin thing", there's really no conspiracy here. It's a very difficult thing to understand, even within the church. However, what is portrayed in the cartoon is not accurate. I'd invite you to approach a member of the church with some knowledge about the issue. I'm afraid a high schooler isn't going to be able to go into to much depth.

  • He says that the Bible and the book of mormon are to be used hand in hand, but the book of mormon contradicts the Bible in so many ways.

  • @robbiewwebster Ezekiel 37:16-17 The stick of Judah (The Holy Bible) and the stick of Joseph (The Book of Mormon) shall become one in the Lord's hand.

In what ways does the Book of Mormon contradict the Bible? The Bible doesn't say so. Have you ever read the Book of Mormon?

  • All these Jesus fags think they are higher than mormons on the sanity scale. Only slightly, you weirdo's.

  • what's funny is neither is christianity true.

stop believing in these imaginary characters and go wake up to reality.

  • @SlipKunt please, stop trying so hard.

  • Why does he keep doing that weird thing with his eyes? He looks spaced out.

  • Speaking of that cartoon, "Joseph Smith, known for his tall tales"

And L. Ron Hubbard is known as a science fiction writer. They did a good job comparing two evils for us.

"We're just a branch of Christianity." But Joseph Smith was told that all Christian creeds were an abomination. Not defending Christianity, but if god wanted the mormon beliefs set out, why didn't he do it through Jesus, or Abraham, or any of the other prophets? Why Joseph Smith, a fiction writer?

  • Sandra Tanner is Brigham Young's great great grand daughter. she was raised in the lds church. she and her husband left the church because it was a lie and hid the truth from people. see utlm.org and research subjects such as racism and the mormon murders. look up also the Book of Mormon. what you read may surprise you.

  • That cartoon shows what the Mormon's used to believe but they changed their Bible

  • @cdianne2002 No, the Mormons DID NOT change the Bible. The Mormons believe in the same Bible that you do. I know this because I have read the Bible that the Mormon church uses.

  • @djm376 utlm.org

  • @minpinlover26 What exactly is your point? Why are you showing me this website that is put on by people who completely abandoned the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints?

  • @djm376 it is the reasons why they left the church that is why I gave you the website. I have some of their articles including their testamony as to why they left the church. that is all. there research on the LDS church is profound. I am researching the LDS and looking at information from their website as well as FARM's website.

  • @minpinlover26 Theres also exmormon.org, which speaks about the experiences of ex-morons who couldn't take anymore of the LDS bullshit.

exmormon[dot]org/mormon/mormon422[dot]htm is one of the worst. Ya should check it out.

  • @secretk33per Thank you I will.

  • By their fruits ye shall know them. No Mormons I have ever seen go around sneaking a hidden camera with the intention of editorializing everything someone else says twisting it into something it never was. If you allege to follow Jesus Christ I would suggest living by his own teachings of showing unconditional love and respect to others. As Jesus said, even as we treat the "least of these" is how we treated Him.

  • they said they dont worship joseph smith????!!!!!!! LMAO....I spent six months in a mormon church and every sunday it was strickly JOSEPH SMITH....no Jesus

  • @Genscocougar ummmm right. That was not a Mormon church. ALL we talk about is Christ we teach of Christ, we speak of Christ, we rejoice in Christ and we love our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I am thinking you stayed about five minutes and went back home to post on youtube.

  • @Genscocougar What's the name of the church genius?

  • @buckmagic Just a way to get unsuspecting people in the door. I was also told that Joseph Smith would have a higher position during judgement that Jesus.....So....kinda proves my point . I highly doubt that Joseph Smith will have a higher standing than the son of God and the savior of man. I know MANY mormons....they are not bad people!!! I don't want t bash on mormons...thats not my intention, however I heard something that differed from my past expriances with the LDS.

  • @Genscocougar Wow, that's a new one. It never ceases to amaze me. I'm afraid you were told incorrectly. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior and Redeemer of the world. Joseph Smith was a man and his position will never be higher than Jesus Christ.

  • question every thing any time you feel

    the word is Mormons can't

  • Great job!!!

  • @solomanspamming

You are a liar. You don't even have your facts straight. The Doctrine and Covenants has 138 sections of revealed truth. It is not blasphemy. And lastly, Joseph Smith was a martyr. He died for a cause he believed in. And what are you talking about when you say he shot two men? That is a lie. He never killed anyone. Where are you getting this stuff?

  • @sniperboi96 look at the you tube video 'untold story of the death of joseph smith or google 'smith kills 2 men trying to escape' and google 'book of commandments written by Joseph Smith' He renamed it and added to it calling Doctrine and covenants, who's the liar here? MORmON!

Again, he didn't die for a cause he believed in, he shot and killed 2 men while trying to escape, they were gonna grease that scummy perv for marrying 11 mens wives, while they were still married, BTW.

  • @solomanspaming dude, you are hilarious! So everything you read on the internet is truth!? Gullible sucker.

  • arrogant kid.

  • You never answered my question (if I belong to a church outside of the mormon LDS faith can I get into heaven ) and with out ever hearing of the book of mormon or joseph smith answer this I demand that you do this immediately wow you still haven’t answered this in three posts DEBATE FACIAL!!!!!!!!

  • @Clown5336 wow you seem very very angry

  • @ImLDSRU2 if I belong to a church outside of the mormon LDS faith can I get into heaven ) and with out ever hearing of the book of mormon or joseph smith

  • @Clown5336 Nope.

  • @ImLDSRU2 That's some mighty fine blasphemy there guy. If your Idea of heaven is a bunch of racist white people sitting around talking about why they are so much better than the non-mormons and people with dark skin your really in hell.

  • @solomanspaming well said brother

  • Did you know that until 1978 the mormons said black people were evil & represent satan? Think of the Negro, cursed as to the priesthood... This Negro, who in the pre-existence lived the type of life which justified the Lord in sending him to the earth in the lineage of Cain with a black skin, and possibly being born in darkest Africa--If that Negro is faithful all his days, he can and will enter the celestial kingdom. He will go there as a SERVANT,(LDS APOSTLE Mark E. Petersen

  • @solomanspaming Yes indeed. One of their prophets Joseph F Smith said that their black skin was emblamatical of spiritual darkness. He wrote about it in a book called The Way To Perfection.

  • @ImLDSRU2 DEBATE FACIAL!!!!!!!!

  • @Clown5336 facial?

  • Mormons are genuine whether they are correct or not about Joeseph Smith. I think the missionaries handled the situation quite well.

  • I agree blind faith can lead you to the light but it can also plunge you into absolute darkness

  • if you are a mormon you are lost in darkness Jesus loves you pray and ask God to show you the truth read you Bible to build up your most Holy faith ask seek and knock look at your church and its teachings and look to see how it falls in line with the word of God I am a Christian and as a outsider and a true believer who has a relationship with my creator i can tell you with out a doubt that Mormonism is FALSE and not of God because the teachings of Mormonism do not fall in line with the BIBLE

  • @Clown5336 How do Book of Mormon teachings not fall in line with the bible? They both focus on the coming/teaching of Jesus the Christ, and how He will be the savior of all mankind. Where are the differences in teachings?

  • @givewarachance117 go read the Bible again dude you missed something

  • @Clown5336 and what exactly did I miss? please-enlighten me.

  • @givewarachance117 Mormonism is a racist satanic cult that claims to be Christian.

  • @Clown5336 hmmm..."judge not lest ye yourself be judged..." I'm pretty sure someone famous said that once. (that was Jesus, in case you didn't know) And we're a pretty large "cult" having more members than the Jewish religion.

  • @givewarachance117 You never answered my question (if I belong to a church outside of the mormon LDS faith can I get into heaven ) and with out ever hearing of the book of mormon or joseph smith answer this I demand that you do this immediately

  • @Clown5336 Please actually research your insults and accusations before you let them fall out of your mouth-you'll look a lot less unintelligent.

  • @givewarachance117 You never answered my question (if I belong to a church outside of the mormon LDS faith can I get into heaven ) and with out ever hearing of the book of mormon or joseph smith answer this I demand that you do this immediately

  • @Clown5336 personally, I do not care what you demand me to do-I have no reason to succumb to someone's will such as yours. If you want to find out what we believe, go talk to a bishop of a ward. Don't consult youtube videos. You are an obvious contention-seeker, so I suggest you take up debate class or politics so you can have a positive outlet for you obsessions.

  • @givewarachance117 did i ask you what you though of me im just asking you (if I belong to a church outside of the mormon LDS faith can I get into heaven ) and with out ever hearing of the book of mormon or joseph smith answer this I demand that you do this immediately

  • @givewarachance117 you are a wimp when it comes to defending your faith and book

  • @Clown5336 If someone came to your town and started raping and killing people and claimed to be your brother im certain you would take offence as well

  • @Clown5336 uh, duh. yes.

  • @givewarachance117 I am attacking you and your faith because you are claiming to be my brother and have the same beliefs as you and I take offence to the fact that you and your Church claim to be Christian

  • @givewarachance117 racism, polygamy, death oaths, men form Utah marring 12 year old girls and false doctrine

  • The tablets the Mormon religion is based on were gold. Gold is money . Money is the root of all evil. The bible specifically warns that nothing is to be added or subtracted from bible. You can't find a cross in any Mormon temple yet Christ is there banner. They try to confuse people into believing their christian and they practice pagan rituals.they scare people into believing only Mormons will be saved.

  • @cokdrum

    John 21:25 (King James Version)

And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. "

And the Book of Mormon is NOT the bible, its more of Christs words trough prophets long ago, and of JESUS CHRIST EVERYONES SAVIOR.If those that lived in moses days, did listen to him, would they "turn out good" but often they didnt listen.God choose moses.

  • @cokdrum the quote is "the LOVE of money is the root of all evil..." And as for the scripture in Revelations that speaks of "nothing being added/subtracted from this book" that you quoted: that pertains to the revelations about the end of the world, because prophecies concerning this were promised to be written by John alone. AND revelations was not the last book WRITTEN in the bible, so if you DO take those words literally, then a large section of the bible is false as well (which it's not).

  • @givewarachance117 The new testiment is a collection of testomnies from christ deciples. The question is are these whitnesses lying about the miricles and the scripture. the book of mormon on the other hand is basicly from one mans imagination. linking itself to christanity in hopes of collecting the confused souls thinking it is a fbranch of christ when infact its its own weed entirely.

  • @cokdrum I can't even take your point of view seriously when you don't even know how to spell half the words in your paragraph.

  • @givewarachance117 utlm.org

  • @givewarachance117 Ya, the spelling negates the substance. everytime, luckily you wont be bothered by substance so long as the spelling is not perfect. or if the words are not spelled correctly that means im not as smart as you and you are far too arrogant to consider any thought that has a mis spelling. either way what i say is true mis spelled or not. Moron I mean mormon sorry i cant spell.

  • you just got pwned kidd stand your ground next time

  • You should ask them WHY they believe in Joseph Smith & the claims he made, what parts of the cartoon were "bullcrap", and if the church believed in that bullcrap in the past, even if it doesn't now.

  • @blurglide That is a fantastic question. WHY do we believe or rather HOW do we believe? The Book of Mormon contains a promise to any who read it with a sincere heart, with real intent having faith in Christ. Pray about it. Knock and it shall be opened unto you.

What part of the cartoon is bullcrap? Where do i begin?

    "endless celestial sex"?????

"those that were neutral were cursed with black skin"????

"those that were valiant would be born into mormon families" "and were white"???

  • @blurglide ........"elohim came to earth as Adam and Eve"???

"Elohim came to earth to have sex with the virgin Mary????

"jesus took at least three wives"????

"jesus fathered a number of children"????

"a treasure seeker...known for his tall tails"???

"stand at final judgement before joseph smith, and god and jesus"?????

"joseph smith did more for us than any other man, including jesus christ"???????

this is to name just a few....

  • @buckmagic Reading "with a sincere heart" means you already believe/want to believe it. if it's true, you should be able to read it critically, because truth stands up to criticism.

Are spirit children produced asexually? Mormons I knew in high school verified the dark skin thing, although that's since been rescinded. A lot of the crazy stuff has been rescinded in modern times.

The end question is: how did you decide Smith's crazy, extraordinary stories were true? There's no evidence of truth

  • @buckmagic But why do you trust Peter is telling the truth there in the first place unless you ALREADY believed him before reading that? What is your criteria to believe that over any other claimed religious prophecy? Why does Peter supposedly get private revelation and we have to just believe him?

  • @blurglide that's the whole point. you don't have to just believe anyone. ask God directly "ask and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you." Right there in the Bible. It's always been that way.

  • @buckmagic OK. "God- please reveal yourself to me". Hmmm....nothing is happening. You're applying circular reasoning. How would you even know the difference between a revelation from God and a voice in your head? People like Job, Moses, and Peter claim that God spoke to them directly. If God existed and really wanted me to believe, he would know what it would take for me to believe. The claims of your religion are just as arbitrary and ridiculous as those of any other religion.

  • @blurglide Are you saying the stories in the Bible are any less "crazy" when critically analyzed? Moses parting the red sea and walking across on dry land? Jonah being swallowed by a whale? Not to mention all of the miracles Jesus performed. How do I know? Through the power of prayer my friend. And again, going back to my first comment (which I don't see up yet so hopefully it will pop up here soon) and verified through the power of the Holy Ghost (see 2 Peter 1:20-21, Revelations 19:10).

  • @blurglide can you account for the other problems with this video that I listed? i listed about 10. Trust me, you won't be able to. i'm afraid that about 95% this video is a lie, meant to make people think crazy things about Mormons. Why? I wish I knew.

  • @blurglide In 2 Peter 1:20-21he explains that scripture was written with prophecy "as moved upon by the Holy Ghost" and that "no prophecy of the scripture is of any private Interpretation”. What Peter taught is to understand the scriptures, a person must have the same spirit of prophecy that was used to first write the truth, must be enlightened by the power of the Holy Ghost. ’m afraid you cannot read the scriptures critically. This is precisely why there are 3,800+ Christian denominations.

  • @buckmagic: The bible is ridiculous, too, but I think the book of Mormon is even more so due to Smith not showing the supposed plates to anyone, not being able to translate them the same way twice, the lack of historical evidence for the societies he claimed, and the fact that the Egyptian scrolls he translated turned out to not say anything he said they did.

If God gave prophecy of truth, they should stand up to critical analysis. If they can't, it probably wasn't a prophecy from God

  • @blurglide The plates were shown to more than 10 other people. Look, I suggest that you read something before you try to discount it.

I'm afraid no prophecy from God would stand up to your arbitrary analysis (by who's measure of critical analysis? By what metrics are you analyzing? You think any 2 people are going to come to the exact same approach to analysis, much less conclusions?). Please explain how you would critically analyze one of Moses' prophecies? Let's say, Deuteronomy 28:49-52?

  • @buckmagic What if I TELL YOU I have a prophecy from God, and you have to have the spirit of prophecy to understand them and accept them. How would you tell my claim from Smith's or Peter's? How do you tell their claim from Mohommad, Buddha's, or L. Ron Hubbards? You need to apply scrutiny, and have objectively verifiable facts. How else do you tell fact from fiction? You are choosing to believe first, but your decision was arbitrary since what you chose has no more support than others.

  • @blurglide I would ask you where does your priesthood line come from? I've spent 6 years in Asia and know that Buddha neither claimed to be nor is revered by Buddhists as a prophet. I've read part os Dianetics. Not that you have to read it to know that L. Ron Hubbard never claimed to have received prophecy from God.

I'm afraid you know knowing about my pathway to belief to make any comment about it whatsoever.

  • I've always been told by the LDS that you're not allowed into heaven unless Joseph Smith lets you in...

  • @romanssix23 Nope. God is the one who will judge you at the last day.

  • mormoms are not sect like baptists, the y are a religion based on christianity, the guy they claim as prophet just mde up is own storys,, and btw if u look into it its comical and contradicts itself dont let them in
