sketches of spain was a monument in history <miles davis? OF COURSE.. THIS TITLE IS A TESTAMENT TO HOS ALL ROUND MUSICIANSHIP AND TASTE ... ALL THINGS BUCKETHEAD SAYS LSD25RECORDS
Buckethead's technically an amazing guitarist, maybe even virtuosic. This feels very mechanical to me. I'll get heat for this, but this is my opinion. A guitarist like Pat Metheny or John Abercrombie would've done more justice in the name of Miles.
However, the fact that Buckethead dedicated a song to Miles Davis is amazing in my books.
Until someone has been to a couple of his performances they have no idea what he is capable of on many stringed instruments. He is truly a virtuoso. For you kiddies who do not know this word, it means: Master, or an individual who possesses outstanding technical ability in their field who excels well beyond the average persons abilities. e
whon the fuck compares (this) to slash? dont ever put slash at bucketheads level, ever, and for the fuckin scene kids, goths, emos, instead of disliking this, go cut your wrists or something!!!
@dillonjames4life FUCK YOU I'M A FUCKING EMO YOU CUNT! -_- YOU DON'T HELP YOU KNOW! ITS COZ OF FOOLS LIKE YOU THAT I DO THAT SHIT! AND WHY I FEEL SO DAM SHITTY! -_- fucking enjoy this music and shutup now. -_-
I"m on my fiance's youtube account, after polluting it with my music... I decided I'd listen to buckethead to redeem myself. :) Bless me oh BH for I have sinned.
By the way I love this guy, The best guitarist I have heard ever.
It's amazing how Joaquin Rodrigo's Adagio has inspired so many wonderful musicians. Buckethead does "Sketches of Spain", Chick Corea writes "Spain". Good stuff man, good stuff.
stop comparing artis vs artist.. that makes u look like asses dudes.. srsly... he's fucking and purely a " musical genius" ffs... respect the artists as they'r cause every one have theyr own style ^^ ... ;D enjoy the music, and dont crytizyce 4 shit .... Grow up! :D
@zmanofwar3 It's cool that BH is trying to give this classical piece more exposition, but being honest, there was no point into changing the name of the piece.
He isn't playing an original composition based on the melody of Rodrigo's Adagio, he's playing the Adagio itself, note by note, although just an excerpt of it.
@zmanofwar3 That's exactly what it is, a cover and tribute to Miles Davis' Sketches of Spain, which is a cover of Joaquin Rodrigo's 'Concierto De Aranjuez'
@ChangGang Slash is just marketing material. That's the only explanation for such a guitar genius like Lee Ritenour to call him to perform in his "6 String Theory" album alongside real monsters like Pat Martino, John Scofield or Steve Lukather.
I guess the record company would rather call Slash or Kirk Hammet rather than Buckethead or Paul Gilbert, if it comes down to selling this "obscure" jazz/rock record.
@ChangGang kirk is not average, neither mustaine, they both have a huge creativity. also is not good to compare a musician with another NEVER do it is like compare sun and earth they both are kind of a circle or something but not the same
people should finally stop comparing him to slash, he is such a great guitarist and so is slash. i love slash's emotional solos, but this gives me gooseflesh as well. enough said.
This version is better than Miles Davis' version, but neither this one or Davis' is anywhere near as good as Paco de Lucia's version. This melody, which Buckethead is playing tribute to, was written by Joaquin Rodrigo. It was NOT written by Miles Davis.
There's only two guitarists I like more than Buckethead, and one of them is Paco de Lucia (the other is Stanley Jordan). Hopefully this song will help turn some Buckethead fans onto Paco de Lucia.
@gabrielrockman yeah hes very well known here in Spain ;D i can tell u this ;D at least on his "artists circle " ^^ , but hes really awesome the way he plays the spanish guitar :D.. Spain Ftw! =D ( sorry, couldn`t resist it =D )
@joetri10 Yeah because he hates the way KFC treats chickens. So by saying you want to eat KFC you're basically saying you hate Buckethead. No offense though.
@MrKaljakoppa because i did research on this guy lol... Anyway i hate the way they treat chicken to but il still eat there seeing as they have already died.
The first time I heard bucketheads too many humans which is one of my fave song from him I decided my fave guitarist of all time are Slash Buckethead Dimebag and now Joe Bonamassa is making his way to my list.
@kistofor12345 i actually dont like Jordon.. it doesnt show his true talent.. well it does, but it doesnt show AS MUCH talent and emotions like this song.
@luraze I see what you mean, but I think it could be a cool mix if buck did some lead over some of Tosins odd timed jazzy chord progressions if it was done tastefully
@MrLickandstickit with all due respect, you're wrong. Jimmy Page is an amazing guitarist (wrote the greatest guitar solo of all time for Stairway to Heaven) and so is Buckethead. They are 2 different players so you can't really compare them.
@esb82593 i see your point but imm a huge zeppelin fan... and i only wish i was around to see them live...... same thing wish good old guns n roses..... but still buckethead is a great guitarest

can someone list these little known buckethead songs that have this much emotion for me? (and i already know about soothsayer for mom padmasena angel monster aunt Suzie i love my parents electric tears and some more)
@zeppelin25101980 Album Colma , Earth heals herself , Wishing Well , Angel Monster, Shadows Between The Sky (Song) and pretty much the whole album, A Real Diamond in the Rough(Album) ( my prefered songs are: Seperate Sky,A Miracle Of Sureender, Fromless Present, Four Rivers, ), And one of his new album is also excellent (Capitain Eos Voyage).
ps: You could also try Mrs Beasly and Sea Of Expanding Shapes
@zeppelin25101980- Dawn Appears. That can have a really strong effect on a person. I don't know whether to be happy or sad. I listened to it when I watched the sunrise. It's an experience I'll never forget.
I am getting pretty tired of people saying that he has no emotion. Ummmm.. people just because he has a mask that shows no emotion, doesnt mean he HAS no emotion. Clearly, if you all had eyes and ears you could see and hear that Big B is legit :)
This is a very simple version (very simple, because this guy doesn't know shit about classical guitar) of the second movement of Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo. Get the name right.
@anunnaki2006 hey man, you can say whatever you want, but you cant come in on a BH video and go all "ste vai is the best, this guy is good but no t as good as vai" if you like him better thats ok, but everyones opinion is useless, (yes, ioncluding mine, wich makes this comment kind of a paradox) because no one is going to hear the other person opinion, just listen to the good music, enjoy and make good comments, dont star a war on who is the best guitarrist
buckethead is a talent not seen by the eyes of mortal man on this planet for many, many years ...his music has the ability to move souls, and transcend boundries.. one day historians of music will hold him up with the greats of history's past.... he is a true artist, and master of his craft.....thank you god for sending him to us .
Think of 10 Guitar player including Buckethead that are far better than Steve Vai, he is incredible guitarist but by no means the best. Best with a electric fan to make him look cool on stage. Vai lacks far to much emotion in his playing for me at least and don't rate him that highly as a musician but again personal taste dictates.
@AsartaQt What emotions does buckethead have with the bucket over his head? Steve Vai is the greatest guitar player at this moment and will be until he dies. Buckethead makes good music that transports you somewhere but he's not as good as Steve Vai. I've heard more mistakes from Buckethead than ever from Vai.
@anunnaki2006 Steve Vai is a great guitarist, its true. Dont need me to say it... Buckethead and Steve Vai are two completely different guitarists though.. I would be willing to bet a million dollars ( provided if I had it ) that if Buckethead wanted or was a Steve Vai cover artist, he could keep up with his talent no problem what so ever.. but not so sure if that situation was the other way around. I mean, lets get real. Have you EVER seen Steve Vai Nunchuk and play guitar?....
I fucking love how this song is only 4 minutes but it feels like it lasts forever. I look at a good view with this song playing and it makes me wanna cry. Buckethead is a genius.
@buzan199 No, Paco de Lucia did a cover of this theme, and Miles Davis also did one, in his album Sketches of Spain. But this is a section, of the second movemente from the Concierto de Aranjuez a clasical piece of Joaquin Rodrigo, a spanish composer of the past century.
I have to say, Buckethead is a wonderful guitarrist but in this theme. Paco rules.
@lagaron4 nice.. so good i saw ur comment right before of answering that 'spanish' dude lol.. well or lating watever..xD So good, non spanish people knows this beautiful music, and theyr masters ofc. btw im spanish so thats why i said 'spanish' dude lol...XD he doesnt DESERVE BEEING SPANISH if he thinks Paco de lucia did this lmao xD
I think he could've listened to this when he was learnig early guitar lessons MAy BE xD but its so nice he covered this song.. lovely, and sooooooo tender =D
Everything he does, every string he touches, every finger that is touched by his soul, is simply amazing. Nobody except himself could pull anything like this or close to this off.
@fernanties he's a vegetarian, he wears the bucket as a political statement against KFC, and the way they treat their chickens before killing them brutally... so im guessing he doesn't eat the chicken ;P

Greatest? I think you mean Steve Vai.
anunnaki2006 11 months ago
Beautiful Track.
@anunnaki2006
AsartaQt 11 months ago
@AsartaQt What emotions does buckethead have with the bucket over his head? Steve Vai is the greatest guitar player at this moment and will be until he dies. Buckethead makes good music that transports you somewhere but he's not as good as Steve Vai. I've heard more mistakes from Buckethead than ever from Vai.

@anunnaki2006 i cant even ...
fatcow12354 10 months ago
@anunnaki2006 Steve Vai is a great guitarist, its true. Dont need me to say it... Buckethead and Steve Vai are two completely different guitarists though.. I would be willing to bet a million dollars ( provided if I had it ) that if Buckethead wanted or was a Steve Vai cover artist, he could keep up with his talent no problem what so ever.. but not so sure if that situation was the other way around. I mean, lets get real. Have you EVER seen Steve Vai Nunchuk and play guitar?....

Paco rules.

Everything he does, every string he touches, every finger that is touched by his soul, is simply amazing. Nobody except himself could pull anything like this or close to this off.
BRAVO. Now give me a tour of spain bucket!

The layering of guitars in this is pretty amazing.

I wonder if he eats the chicken out of the bucket before concerts. Or can you even get a bucket of KFC anymore?
fernanties 1 year ago
@fernanties he's a vegetarian, he wears the bucket as a political statement against KFC, and the way they treat their chickens before killing them brutally... so im guessing he doesn't eat the chicken ;P
MrWildebeaste 10 months ago
@MrWildebeaste I would eat the chicken first. I mean, if I needed the bucket, why throw out the colonel's best just for a hat.

@fernanties hmm... id have to agree with that
