I don't use Facebook cause I don't want to find anyone and I don't want any one to find me. It does look nice from all the reports I've seen. It's bad enough (AND CREEPS ME OUY) that you can be tracked where you are by your cell phone and that your online shopping habits are watched so ads follow you from sight to sight and your research is monitored too. i strongly disagree with your last point. while i agree that normally business rivals just mean the consumers always win, this case is different. i dont really care if i use facebook or google+, and whats going to decide that for me is where my friends are. but if google+ gets somewhere, its going to be a pain for the consumers. while both sites are trying to bring everything together in one space, essentially they are splitting the world into two, and i dont want to have TWO online lives!

A few of my friends are noobs when it comes to computers and all of this social media stuff. I told them that I have moved to Google+, but they feel comfortable with Facebook and wont leave it behind. Most of my other friends are at G+ so I will stick with G+. Facebook timeline reminds me of Myspace, and we all know what happened to Myspace. I don't mind it, it just looks very similar. I like the ticker, but what I don't like is the new news feed. I liked it better the old way when I got every status update in order and then I got to choose what I read or not. I don't like Facebook picking for me what they think is most important. Twitter tries the same thing with follow suggestions and they come up with crap like the cast of Jersey Shore to follow.

I found many of the changes announced very appealing for Facebook. As far as sharing your info, I am rather sure that people will not have to share what they do not want, through privacy settings or just not uploading certain media.
