Excellent video, Alb76!!! You had quite a few scenes from Bond's first escape from Piz Gloria, when he knocks out a guard, and dons a black stocking cap and outskis a dozen guards with submachine guns. Probably my favorite scene from all 20+ Bond movies ... easily in the top 5.
The best Bond film....director Peter Hunt did a superb job with Fleming's best book. This may strange as he's the best 007 of all but the fact it's NOT Connery actually adds to the film's appeal. I think Lazenby did very well in the role, something which is finally being recognised by film critics and Bond fans.
@stadioazteca Agreed. I can't see the Connery smirk working in this film. Lazenby brings a vulnerability to the role that hadn't been seen before. However, maybe Connery would have risen to the occasion. We shall never know unfortunately!
the best Bond film...director Peter Hunt did a superb job. This may sound strange as he's the best 007 of all but the fact it's NOT Connery is part of OHMSS's appeal. It's very different to the Connery films before it and the Moore films after.
Does anybody have the missing London rooftop chase scene alledgedly in the US versions of OHMSS ?! Stills exist in some Bond books of Lazenby chasing a SPECTRE agent over the rooftops of Soho just after the gaeneology /college of arms scene.
A scene with Bond chasing a SPECTRE spy he discovered in the college of arms across the rooftops of London and ending in the Underground is believed by some to be a "lost" scene (Also, it isn't in the US version or DVD editions) , since it was never actually filmed. The directors cut the scene because of budgets, and it wasn't a part of the novel, either. The chase would of ended in the subway tubes.
However, look at Campbell's newspaper ("19 dead in railway crash")
In my opinion, a favourite of mine, both musically and screenplay. If Connery did this film, it would have been perhaps the best bond movie of all, however, he didn't so it's only an opinion. Thanks for posting.
@HRHSirJohnSteed I believe that Connery would have stuffed this movie up. He was getting really tired of the franchise. This film would have had to have been made instead of Thunderball if you wanted to see the last good performance from Connery. Though even here, he's not at his best, that belongs to the first 3 films. An earlier time means no Diana Rigg, which is big loss! I also don't think Connery could have done this vulnerable Bond from the novel.
Magnifique! Tres bien bon amie
