  • <3 14 years old, listening to this.

    Love you Grandma.

  • Nice, A tip though. when you photograph a LP cover put it in the light but not in the sun, and switch off the flash on the camera. Makes a much better picture. I made the same mistake, until one day the flash was of and I did not notice. but when I look at the end product I saw that I had a better product. Keep up the good work. Thank You.

  • Back on 30 October 2010, after 35 years of waiting to see Charley Pride. I got to see him front row seat at Renfro Valley KY. I sang I'll Fly Away" for him and played the harmonica and clogged for him in my size lightup shoes. I went to sing the chorus part and he sang with me what an honor this was for me. I wish I would've video taped it but the memory will always be here in my mind and heart. In the profile photo here, Front row of Opry Square Dancers 23 Apr 05 Best Wishes LittleCountryDJ

Charlie Pride lived up to his name and will always be reconized as one of the greats.

  • for you preacher camping....and not until..

  • For anyone who is looking for a biblical explanation of the gospel and salvation, I would highly recommend checking out the scribd website that is listed on my channel. The scripture references given on there make it very clear and easy to understand.

  • Amazing Brilliant Spectacular!!!

  • I am a white feller born in Memphis TN, raised in Mississippi, and I have always like Pride's songs. Color don't matter, Spirit does. Lord bless his soul.

  • Charlie is still one of the greatest ever!

  • GReat man i new him personally as a young boy

  • i might be 20yrs old, but i love charlie pride! been listenin to him since i was in the womb! lol. he even called my daddy to wish him luck and prayed for his cancer surgery. yay charlie!!! :)

  • He had the most wonderful voice. I don't know if he performs at all any more at all. I miss him. He was a pioneer, and Darius Rucker should thank him for opening that door.

  • wow it is so good to hear mr pride singing this song he surely did not get the recognition he deserved

  • drunkirishbastard1------Willie "discovering" Charlie wasn't all that big a deal. Purt near anybody with working ears could hear THAT talent. If Willie had something to do with getting him started on his career, that's another one we owe ya Willie.

  • AM SINGING THIS TONIGHT IN MY BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM

  • @aaron79509 ------hope you knocked it outa the park AARON.

  • I see 5 haterz.

  • @mbrector

Those people will not fly away. xP

  • @sTyLeNgRaCe69 I'm sad for you.

  • Wonderful rich voice

  • @corrina253 You, in fact, did offer your "beliefs" by stating that you are an atheist because an atheist believes there is no deity. That would be a belief. I did not state that you, "need" to open your heart. I simply invited you. As for my proselytizing, that's what is asked of me to do in the Bible. For the Lord states in many books of the Bible that we should offer His word to others so they might have eternal life.

  • @carlajean65 Amen Sister, you nailed it.

  • @corrina253 I don't know what so-called "Christians" you've been exposed to, but what you've described is not a Christian and is not Scripture-based. Those folks need to bear in mind that they may be the only Bible a person ever reads. I didn't post to have a debate with you, but rather offer my beliefs as you did yours. I wish you the best life has to offer. Many blessings.

  • @carlajean65 I was not trying to have a debate, and I did not offer my "beliefs" as you claim I did (dear, an atheist has no beliefs). I merely said that I love this song despite being an atheist, and you replied to my comment that I need to "open my heart and accept Christ". I was not proselytizing, but you certainly were.

  • @corrina253 All I can say to you is that I would surely rather get there and find out I was wrong for believing than to arrive and find out that I was wrong for not believing in my Creator who has been with me all of my life and who has walked with me, and even carried me when I was unable to handle life alone. I agree that each day we have with those we love should be cherished and we should make the very best of their presence, which is a gift.

  • @carlajean65 And all I can say is that it is a shame that people don't put as much faith in their fellow human beings as they do in their gods. Christians want to go to heaven when they die, but we nonbelievers want to make our world a heavenly place to enjoy while we are still living. Unfortunately, that will probably never happen as long as religion continues to harden people's hearts and enslave their minds.

  • @corrina253 -----corrina, as a non believer, I think you lose sight of a LOT that various religions do NOW. Feeding the poor, offering literacy classes, helping the addicted, providing end of life hospice care, the list is endless. As I said, I'm not a believer, but I can't ignore the good religious people do for others. There is plenty of both good & bad among believers & non-believers. To try to marginalize an entire group of people does not speak well for you. Peace & love.

  • @idgit2442 I pray that someday you will change your way of thinking and will be a BELIEVER...Jesus loves you

  • @ corrina 253 I sure hate to hear that you're an atheist. I suppose death would be a scray thing. I invite you to open your heart and walk in the light. As Christians, we look forward to the amazing afterlife God has promised us. So, although we might hate to leave our loved ones for a while, we are assured to see them again some glad, glorious day. No pain, no sorrow, Heaven is for sinners...sinners who have accepted Christ. That's why He was sacrificed. There is nothing without hope.

  • @carlajean65 The idea of going to a heaven and reuniting with our loved ones after we die is nice, but wanting something to be true does not make it true. If I have roaches in my house, wanting them to be gone isn't going to cause a can of insecticide to magically appear in my cupboard. I believe that making the most of the time we have on earth and cherishing our loved ones while they are still with us is much more worthwhile than looking forward to an afterlife that may or may not exist.

  • Even though I'm an atheist and don't believe in an afterlife, this song makes death a little less scary to me.

  • good job charlie.

  • The world can have its demons (temporary) im ready to do some revearse skydiving. Even if its 20 years im ready. While im here i will pray for things. I remember alot of revearse skydivers when they sang this song.

  • Mr. Pride IS IS IS a truly great one---if not THE great one!!

  • For anyone who desires a biblical understanding of the gospel and salvation, I would highly recommend checking out the scribd website that is listed on my channel.

  • I love Pride's rendition of this song. Can't stop listening to it!

  • I got to see Charley Pride while he was in Michigan. He always would stop in at a bar i went to "The Caravan ". He is so nice. He sang " Kiss An Angel Good Morning " for me. He is one good look man and a gentleman. I handed him a fake $1,000.00 bill for him to autograph for me. He took a double look at it since it was a little dark in the bar. The bar is gone now and i since moved to Tennessee. I will never forget that day ! Love to hear him sing the old time church hymns. He's the best !

  • Listening to Charlie Pride is one of those things that just soothes your soul, no matter how you feel. His style of singing seems so smooth and natural, like a storyteller. He's a top notch singer, not just for the country genera but for all music. Thanks to AlanPaladin for putting this video up!

  • I know this is an evangelical song but I want it played at my Funeral Mass

  • @legalbeagle26 nothing worng with that. people worry too much about what's proper or allowed in their particular church rather than paying attention to the essential messege of christ. that's why chritianity of all types is hurting right now.

  • Best Black Country Singer!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!

  • i like it the way they play it on the movie o' brother where are thou. i dont know who sangs it but i like it better.

  • I think it was gillian welsch and allison krauss and one other who's name I can't remember at the time.... none the less a great song =)

  • great man ever sang counter still is wish he would come back come back charlie

  • interesting tidbit. When Charlie was a relative unknown, he performed at a show sponsored by Willie Nelson. Obviously in that era, a black man on a country music stage wasn;t entirely welcome. When Willie introduced Charlie to a silent crowd, he leaned over and gave Charlie a big wet one right on the lips, thus breaking the ice. Everyone had a good laugh and a good time. Charlies star was essentially born at that moment

  • @drunkirishbastard1 Awesome story.I waqs given an album of his when my father died and i charished it.I love Charlie Pride.

  • @drunkirishbastard1 wasn't it also the case that charley had had immense popularity on the radio but people listening had no idea he was black until they saw him live?

  • @drunkirishbastard1

You're not funny. I'll only waste 30 seconds responding. Please find something else to do. You're life is somewhat of a waste but it doesn't have to be. You just chose it that way.

  • @drunkirishbastard1 I never heard that; I knew he had a hard time with the color barrier in his early years. He sure did a good job breaking through that. He was sort of a lone wolf, not many Blacks I ever knew liked country music, much less to perform it. About Willie, that's 1 of the things I liked about him & Johnny Cash. They could be country boys & represent a lot of the good things about rural culture without being rednecks. They both looked for the good in other people.

  • @drunkirishbastard1 The great prophet Willie Nelson is one of the most enlightened individuals on this plant, and thanks to him we didn't miss out on the great Charlie Pride.

  • When I was in The Diviners (its a play in which I portrayed Melvin Wilder) this was the song they sang during the last allegory.

  • i need a copy of this song asap and i can't get it from itunes!! where can i get??????

  • tbh im looking for daniel o donnels version of ill fly away any idea where i cn get it tried everywhere

  • This was my grandpas favorite song, he sung it till the day he died in the hospital.

  • My mother loved charlie pride My parents in a small town in NJ drove about 30 minutes away to see him perform at Waterloo Village. He sounded better live that is hard everyone needs back up sounds in the studio. If anyone gets a chance or on vacation oh the history! I loved going there sitting in the old church watching how everything was done then beautiful. i looked in amazement at the soldiers uniforms. My favorite song growing up was kaw-liga. Beautiful song one of many God Bless !

  • Darius Rucker isn't the first black country singer. Charley was #1

  • And might I add 10 times better even today than Darius Rucker!

  • Cant wait till the Glorious day that i will Fly Away ! God Bless
