  • is this available on itunes? Anyone ?

  • @timothyj1966 FOUND IT under John Dowland itunes...

  • WOW - love the instrumentation.... beautiful English Horn

  • John Dowland, One of the greatest lutiest in the world. :3

  • This is without any doubt the most beautiful piece of music I have discovered in the past few years.

  • I love John Potter's interpretations of Dowland. Anyone knows others amazing interpreters, besides Potter?

  • Great version :)

  • I love this song. :D My voice teacher had me sing this, and that's how I was introduced to John Dowland's music, and have been in love with his music ever since.

  • cant you'll just love this music.

    I do it's wonderful

  • That is not correct. The saxophone player is John Surman, not Jan Garbarek. As a matter of fact, the group released another two similar albums that are also worthwhile discovering 'Care Charming Sleep' and 'Romaria'.

  • Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

  • I've just recently found out about Dowland through an old friend who's a composer from Vienna sending a link 2 his most recent creation. It's an album called 'The Dowland Songbook' & it's a really different take on the Dowland classics. It's jazz (punk) essentially & it really works - especially track 3: 'come again' - with a really crazy eighties space invader keyboard sound resonating through the main chorus, then check out the smoothe sax that it fades out with!!

  • What a wonderful song.

  • It sounds more like an English Horn, family of the Oboe

  • @Monrealese it is a soprano saxophone and the player is Jan Garbarek.

  • @obejoyful7 I looked it up and it is indeed a saxophone. Dowland songs performed by tenor John Potter, lutenist Stephen Stubbs, and baroque violinist Maya Homburger in collaboration with English jazz musicians John Surman and Barry Guy. If it's the same recording that is.

  • A lute! :-)

  • Yippee! Yeah, I know..

  • I like it!

  • Is this a saxophone? Quite daring, using an instrument invented in the 19th century in renaissance music.

    But I like the singer...

  • Yep! It's a saxophone indeed... Quite extrordinary... Never heard any rendition at all of any dowland song before that had a saxophone in it. I must admit I like this one, though.

  • I think it might be a cor anglais, thats what I do think, with my mind!
