I noticed all of the other singles (45s) you have on Bell Records are the promo white/red label 45s. This was the Bell silver/black label that was sold to the general public. Wasn't Bell able to send the radio station a promo copy of "Little Willy" by The Sweet? Anyway, great song, great vinyl!
I was 12 when this came out. My Dad's name was Willie, so when he would get me angry I would start singing the chorus at him, "Little Willie Willie won't GO HOME !!!!!!, but you can't push Willie round WILLIE WON'T GO!!!!!!, tried telling everybody but OH NO!!!!!!, Little Willie Willie won't GO HOME !!!!!!!!!!!" He learned to hate the song pretty quickly.
i was about 4 years when i heard this tune and liked it(also one of my sisters did too).found an scratchy 45 to this in 1985(and still got it).surprising still plays good.thanks for this one.
Absolutely, without a doubt one of the most ridiculously stupid and idiotic NON-songs that ever hit the airwaves. The first time I listened to it on the radio I could have saved cleaning up the mess in my car had I had a barf-bag handy. And that's the only time I have ever listened to this piece of dog doo-doo. This song appeals to those who have the IQ of their shoe size.
@TEMPmichaelhansen Unlike Justin "Bieber", The Sweet will still be remembered twenty years from now. Please don't get me started on "New Kids..."! Neither they nor Bieber will be remembered even ten years from now. Today's so-called artists lack talent!!! Classic artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones & Elton John will be around forever, because they are talented & know how to write great songs! End of discussion.
Excellent slice of bubblegum pop which also ushered in The Sweet's foray into more rockier territory. Not the most politically correct song title, but not what you think it is. ;-)
If that record is recorded in mono, how do you get rid of the crackly sound if that is a stereo cartridge? Does the turntable do that for you automatically or do you have to edit that out?
@debiani3866 heh because one can plug it into his computer, set the input from stereo to mono and that does the trick! (also if you have a mixer that supports stereo/mono, that will work as well)
Incredible song - hard to believe this was done before they scored it big time with "Ballroom Blitz"! I have this 45, and I have been thinking about posting both sides of it in one video, but since you posted the A-side, I'm now thinking about posting the awesome hard-rocking B-side, "Man from Mecca", as a video response!
