Hey I live outside of Chicago! (Winnetka, IL), and I have family in South Africa, Western Cape actually. Very familiar with Cape Town. V&A Wharf is one of my favourite spots in the world.

For example, you might remark that they are a "group of losers that have been consigned to the dustbin of history, like their Nazi forebears." That gets a raise out of them . . .

@jSwag47 I still live in Cape Town. Come and stay wherever your heart desires in the Cape. It's a beautiful city. However, you can't escape crime/violence in any country. Niether can you shove it all in one suburb. Cape Town is a city of major inequality, so there will be elements of crime wherever you go. Just be realistic and sensible when you're traveling through it. Hope you visit my city soon :-D
I am from Cape Town and it's such a great place! The crime is only in the bad areas. And I know lots of Americans that live there! I live in America now but I am missing Cape Town a lot! It's really a place to go or live :) I have lived there for 16 years and I have never been mugged or anything. Because I know where and where not to go. Just get a local to make sure you realize where to go and where not to go :)
they follow you into the bathroom in the stairways half a block you be oh men i never gonna lie i saw some alot place argument ting with them standing to their scamning in public parking the come out of no where want to charge you some people had to givewhen the said they watch nothig happen to your car they nowhere around when you was back yes another site doing their thing not even make eye contac there 2or 3 comebegg you or outsmart you I GONNA TRY WEST AFRICA
@ace101guy Yeah generally, if you can get your own car, safe lodgings and don't hang around in the wrong areas at night (and during the day too for the townships and ghettos).
But white women who travel to South Africa stay away from all those dodgy looking places in South Africa. And anyway when I went to Cape Town I was surprised how little crime there was. The locals said they didnt really have much of a problem at all with crime. It just depends where you are in South Africa thats all.
