The GOP vowed to try and get Obama to fail in the execution of his campaign promises. Up to date, they are following along that path, at the expense of the American People. The public option initially polled in the high 60's, and it wasn't until it was stripped out of the senate bill and we were left with the Baucus bill that approval for it dropped dramatically.

It's a fairly accurate account of what he's done so far, what promises he's broken, and what he's still working on. Comparing HCR to the patriot act is ludricrous. It's obvious from that statement that you haven't really read any of the key parts of the legislation, otherwise you'd know just how untrue that comparison is.
Since you did mention the Patriot Act, One of the things I criticize Obama heavily for was the sustainment of this legislation. He needed to let this die when it hit its expiration date last December 31st, and not carry it forward as part of his legacy.

People don't realize that government control over insurance companies IS THE PUBLIC OPTION. You see, "public option" didn't need to be in the bill, after all. Once the government mandates that we all purchase controlled insurance premiums, the insurance companies will, in effect, BECOME government: premiums and rates and regulations will all be government controlled... hence, all health insurance will be controlled by government. The result is the same as any public option. Obama knew this.

Dingell then got up after that session and went on as many programs as he could to clarify what he meant. He admitted he misspoke, so you shouldn't take that quote as legit, it's not.

I sure hope so. This bill didn't go far enough. We desperately need a public option. Rep. Weiner put it right when he said "we feel like we're compromising on the compromised compromise". This bill is OK... but it's no PO, that's for sure.

We do need a hell yes bill, and we had one in the works, but unfortunately the Blue dog dems and the entire GOP was bent on not letting ANY legislation pass. So this is what we're left with. This is not Obama's fault, this is congress's fault. Obama was VERY clear at the outset that he had principal points of what he wanted in the bill, but ultimately it was congress's job to get it through to his desk.

Well ... 100% of congress wants HCR. So do the american people. The way in which it is done vastly different. GOP had some great solutions but here was no bi-partisan effort to work with them. sadly.
as for obama. He is the boss and he leads the dem party and he is the face of the nation. He needs to take responsibility. He was the one that took kucinich on a joy ride, that swindled Stupak and that did nothing when Dem wrote back room deals.

correct. because his solutions are too encroaching on liberties of american individuals. states. and will only rise premiums and debt. when the pilot program in Mass. is an epic failure. plus we dont see any changes for 4 years. 4 years while we find out what is in the bill because no one had time to read it.
like- out today. 17% hike on premiums for young adults.
Obama just said recently that HCR will require more changes so that it can be paid for.

The GOP held to their values and stood by their word. And every poll I look at shows that they did go with the word of the people. I have not seen any proof otherwise.
Obama on the other hand - said MUCH and has really not followed through with one thing. EXCEPT change as now the Gov. declares Human Rights - he did say he would pass HCR. And he and the Democrats DID just that. but this bill relates more to Patriot Act and WORSE with each passing day.

The GOP vowed to try and get Obama to fail in the execution of his campaign promises. Up to date, they are following along that path, at the expense of the American People. The public option initially polled in the high 60's, and it wasn't until it was stripped out of the senate bill and we were left with the Baucus bill that approval for it dropped dramatically.

I strongly encourage you and others on these threads to check out politifact's obama campaign promise tracker. It's a fairly accurate account of what he's done so far, what promises he's broken, and what he's still working on. For someone who's only been in office 15 months, and has more than 10% of his WH appointments stalled by congress, he's already gotten quite a bit of work done... good work.

Comparing HCR to the patriot act is ludricrous. It's obvious from that statement that you haven't really read any of the key parts of the legislation, otherwise you'd know just how untrue that comparison is.
Since you did mention the Patriot Act, One of the things I criticize Obama heavily for was the sustainment of this legislation. He needed to let this die when it hit its expiration date last December 31st, and not carry it forward as part of his legacy.

Bush made separate quarterly appropriations for Iraq and Afghanistan.

People don't realize that government control over insurance companies IS THE PUBLIC OPTION. You see, "public option" didn't need to be in the bill, after all. Once the government mandates that we all purchase controlled insurance premiums, the insurance companies will, in effect, BECOME government: premiums and rates and regulations will all be government controlled... hence, all health insurance will be controlled by government. The result is the same as any public option. Obama knew this.
