  • Holy shit! This thing is TOTAL FUCKING GARBAGE!

  • SEGA!

  • Comment removed

  • where can i get one

  • His face at the end is priceless.

  • I STILL don't fucking own a Sega CD

  • LOL !!!

  • HEY! *meow*

  • Really rad, man!

  • wow, they bashed nintendo AGAIN. bet they feel like shit making games for them now...

  • AVGN

  • None of your remember the suppose Nintendo CD add on? aka Playstation....

  • Thanks for cutting out the best parts. Asshole.

  • Wrong answer man, SHOW HIM

  • Yeah, but while Nintendo didn't get a failure CD add on, they got the Virtual Boy.

  • WhOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!

  • The name got confusing with the thing. They called it "Genesis CD" in a lot of the new commercials, but the kids at school were calling it SEGA CD.

They even called it Genesis CD in Gameplayers magazine, but then the mag's big 12 page intro to the system called it SEGA CD.

  • Why they just show shitty games, but not Sonic CD and the Lunar series?

  • I love the avgn-spoof from this.

  • you know :P i still think NINTENDO bettter :P

  • The Sega CD failed misrably because of the $ price somehow.

  • Not exactly, moviedudeinc. The Sega CD failed miserably because of the vast majority of FMV games for the system. It also failed because the Sega Genesis was capibable of running up to 64 colors on screen, and if you add that to the video processing power of the Sega CD, you would get grainy, pixelated video.

  • Radical

  • whoaaaaaaaaaaa! that kid was blown away by the shittiness!amazing!

  • Holy crap I SO remember this commercial, I FLIPPED OUT when I saw it!

  • I found a really wierd goof.If this was real, the boy would have his furniture destroyed, his skull (and brain) crushed and he would be dead. Sega really can give kids nightmares in this commercial.

  • I can't belive they bashed Nintendo on the commercial!

  • nintendo did the some thing. there was a sega nintendo war in the 90's.

  • Wow... I don't think there will be another company on company bash like this again. If Sony were to make fun of Nintendo, there would be lawsuits all over.

  • the wait was worth it Nintendo makeing CDs

wile sega makes buggy sonic games for the Wii

  • back in the 90s, black people were (ab)used to make crappy things look cool :-)

  • True. It reminds me of those stupid "Obey your thirst!" commercials that Sprite used to run. "Obey your low-life nigger" would have been more like it.

  • @Speedomon Things like crack! :P

  • systems ever better then this any ps shit

  • aren't all video games interactive?

  • MODERN DAY GARBAGE SYSTEMS

  • FUCK YEAH

  • BETTER THEN ALOT OF THESE

  • sega had sonic and i liked it back in the dayz just as i liked mario ( maybe even more )

sega also has a place in my hearth as much as i am a nintendo fan and play the wii now ;)

  • nintendo didn't make a cd add-on because they had brains, and sega didn't.

  • Two things: First, sega wasted alot of money by trying to be ahead of the game and releasing a disc-based supplement to an existing console. When Sony publicized their PS, Sega realized that they f***ed up and started working on their Saturn, completely scrapping longevity for their 32X and Sega CD. Also, CD access times back then were slow, and thus Nintendo decided to stick with ROM storage until optical disc data rates improved.

  • Actually, the 32x was devised by Sega as a way to extend the life of the Genesis/Mega Drive and act as a holdover until the Saturn, even though the Saturn was being developed and came out in less than a year of the 32x debut.

It was something that was really totally unnecessary considering the timeframe and was a waste of money for Sega, not to mention something that only helped to damage their credibility (some bad decisions with supporting, marketing, and selling the Saturn were others).

  • And, Nintendo's bigger reason for not making optical-based systems: lack of infrastructure that Nintendo could control.

Nintendo had a software manufacturing and inventory management system that catered specifically to mask ROM products. They had no infrastructure of their own that catered to making and storing discs. (Even today, Nintendo doesn't make their own discs; Panasonic makes discs for Nintendo.)

Sony, OTOH, easily made their own infrastructure through Sony Music and Sony DADC.

  • What was the name of the boxing game made for Sega CD?

  • "Prize Fighter."

And, exactly like any other Digital Pictures game for the Sega CD, it sucked and blew.

  • Thanks.

  • Nintendo was always better than Sega. Nintendo always had better games.

  • sega cd is crap

  • No Nintendo wont make one. Ok lets do the math. Sega made a CD for the Genesis and now, 15 years later, the company does not exist. Nintendo, on the other hand, balked at the idea of an add on for the SNES, and not only are they basking in the glow of the Wii, but by NOT making the CD addon for the SNES, they made possible the PlayStation (Sony was working with Nintendo on the SNES CD, Nin dropped the idea, Sony got pissed, made the Playstation...the rest is glorious history!)

  • And Nintendo created the GameCube, its first CD game console.

  • didnt sega have something to do with the gamecube?? im sry i cant remember.. just wondering, cos i think i heard sega had something to do with it, i know they make games for it, but the do for every system now... i think

  • It wasn't that Nintendo merely dropped the CD-ROM expansion that Sony was working on, but because Nintendo abruptly canceled their contract with Sony and immediately signed Philips to do the same thing.

That's also why you have lousy Philips games featuring Nintendo franchises on the CD-i.

  • thats true. thats why we got all that Zelda shit on the CD-I.

  • Yep.

I have 2 of the 3 Zelda games merely for collection; I can't play them for long without wanting to get drunk with a bottle of scotch to forget the whole horrifying ordeal (okay, it's not THAT bad, but you get the idea).

As for Nintendo, their ultimate decision to drop the SNES CD-ROM was because the contenders, the TurboGrafx-CD/Turbo Duo and the Sega CD, were doing poorly so Nintendo wisely didn't pursue it and went forward with "Project Reality" instead.

  • That commercial never gets old

  • OMG!!! I'M HAVING A SEIZURE!!!!

  • Dude, I just got a 32X to go with my Sega CD, Welcome to The Next Level!

  • nintendo owned sega in the eng genisis was on life suport and needed add ons to try to be beter then the snes but yet the snes owned it

  • Stop saying owned you fucktards!

  • AT THE END:

    "SEGA!!!!"

  • rolf

  • lmao i remeber that. AVGN did a spoof of that

  • on the commercial he was himself

  • A remote? XD I thought that was simple.

Haha Sega always had commercials that expressed some negativity against Nintendo... Heh funny XD

  • I've always wondered what that kid was holding in his right hand at the very beginning of the commercial. Anybody know?

  • A remote, DUH

  • Well, why is it sooo long and reels back?

  • The pimpest shit I've EVER seen! lol! I am NOW a man!
