What an abysmal piece of hippie garbage. I came across this a few weeks ago and all I could do is shake my head (and that was from watching the last 20 minutes or so). The actors in this movie were either high or needed money. The cast was fantastic, but they obviously had no idea how poorly conceived the whole project was. The movie is just plain stupid. I know that it's a product of the Hollywood machine cashing in on the hippie craze, but holy crap, it's just bad. Carol Channing=insane.

I saw the 2nd half on TCM, and I found it a lot better than its reputation.

I remember going to this film with my grandfather and having to walk out in the middle when he just couldn't take any more. For some crazy reason, that theme song, as sung by Carol Channing, has stuck in my head all these past 40+ years.

Amazing though, isn't it, that a Hollywood film (albeit slightly out of the mainstream) would employ Timothy Leary to help publicize it? In some ways, we really were a great deal more open-minded back then, weren't we?

Speaking of ruin, there is good reason why "Skidoo" flopped: It was because of this trailer featuring Leary and when middle-class people (especially in the Midwest) saw him they thought 'Oh no, why do we need to listen to this piece of shit?'

This should have been a great movie...as the saying goes, "Too Many Cooks Spoil the Pot" Literally or should I say Plot.

This movie does have it's moments like John Phillip Law and Danyele Luna playing "Gods" mistress. Of course my favorite thing is that Rudi Gernreich designed the costumes for Carol Channing and Donyale Luna. Nillson is great too, other than that...it doesn't tickle my funny bone.
