i saw a lot the bands in the day -- inxs, simple minds, adam ant, eurythmics, etc but these guys never toured through oregon...i am thrilled that all this great footage is on youtube, also these guys are an incredible live band, whereas from their great albums i always thought they were studio guys...they sound even better live
Assuredly, I have heard every BC song many dozens of times. The Storm caught me when I was just shy of 17. A treasure. An epic song if we ever could define one. I iss Stuart so much and watching the band play. I want Tony, Mark and Bruce to know they will forever be in my mind and heart. Stuart held a special place for me that I have only rared shared. I never met him, but he was my teacher in almost all that I now hold dear.
I love love love this song - one of my all time favourites - saw Stuart perform live - I will keep that memory in my heart forever - RIP Stuart Adamson xxx
Well what can i say - totally gob smacked !! This video is for me the best one i have ever watched on Youtube. Aged 60 years and been a fan of Big Country for many many of them. Many thanks for posting this video. R.I.P. Stuart - gone far too soon. You ( and the rest of the band ) have a massive following and no doubt more will be added when they hear your brilliant music and see what a great showman you truly were.
Was lucky enough to see Big Country last night in Liverpool. Was a little unsure how it would be without Stuart but Mike Peters you should be proud, what an amazing night!Big Country lives on....thank you for this footage!
Whenever I went on a plane; since portable devices were 'the' thing; I always had this playing on 'take off' & 'landing' ... Was/ is 'the' song I wanna die to; hmmm ... Soz, bit morbid, but true!
R. I . P . Stuart after all these tears and years, you are still so missed. So glad that your music and lyrics live on. Thank you from the bottom of my soul for this post
when asked the question "who was the first band you ever saw?" they all have to say Big Country. my youngest was in her pushchair when she saw them in Perth doing the open air gig there.
@minecritter - I saw them live 4 or 5 times - they were one of the best live bands of their time, and my and many others favourites. Not many in the same class these days ....
I'm just seeing this for the first time and I can't help feeling very emotional watching it. Fantastic performance and band. We'll never forget you Stuart.
@Nigelxman... dito mate, me too watching it for the first time and feelin the emotions running through me....i also can relate to your comments with Bacardibeast as i too was truly affected by Stuarts suicide shock, but ,myself I have also been down that road too, but i still battle on through lifes struggles..hey ho, life goes on bud....from Bonnie Scotland R.I.P Stuart Adamson
I wish I could have spoken to Stuart. I suffer from depression myself and I wish I could have told him how much his music had help me. Long live Stuart Adamson! Long live Big Country!!!
@Bacardibeast I can relate to your post in a really profound way Bacardi. Big Country's music affected my life in a very powerful and positive way but like yourself, I have struggled with depression for many years and I was truly gutted when Stuart Adamson took his own life. Depression isn't talked about a whole lot in everyday conversation but it really can be and in some cases is a silent killer and it affects a lot of people all around the world. Cheers from California
I suffer from depression also ...The music of Big Country in fact saved my life and gave me the courage to go on, Stuart used to always say "Stay Alive" which gave me hope....My heart was grief stricken when i learned he had taken his life............But i know that Stuart wanted to help others, it was his core value, as well as the rest of the Band...........I continue because Big Country as a whole gave me hope and courage....................
Loved em since the crossing n always will, saw them "live" in the 80s a few times in London and am now gettin my kids into them so your music will never die. RIP Stuart hope you found where you wanted to go
...its like the upcoming sun...and i feel the tears in MY eyes...what a sound ,what a wonderful performance...nothing can put the storm into my heart like this emotion....
@ayeamjamieaye I have just seen this for the first time ...I am thinking its some sort of mic...but not sure and would love to know ...did u ever get any answers to yr question ??
omg, this is incredible. Big Country has been among my all time favorites for 20 years, and I never saw them live, and never thought to check YouTube until just now. Thank you!!!!
Excellent, thanks for posting. Brilliant performance by a brilliant band.
I'm sure this concert was recorded by radio 1 and broadcast as part of their "in concert" series that aired in mid 80's. Am sure I've got it on cassette somwhere.
Awesome live band, had the priviledge to see them about 12 times between 86-99.
@iwb316 Thanx bro` ! They`re made in Glasgow if i remember correctly ! Loved the old Yamaha SG2000s Stu` and Bruce used early on ! Some nice Les Pauls also ! Peace Ye`all !!
