  • I'm still loving this video. For those who still disagree lemme make this simple for you. For hundreds of years whites have made blacks go above and beyond to receive recognition for anything that is why we were forced to have our own magazines, genre's of music, dance, fashion, hairstyles, schools, etc. So when a white person trying to be hip shows up at your doorstep don't reward them for simply showing up! Make them work for it.

  • Just re-watched this video. It is so deep on so many levels. It had me thinking for example, why are black actors SO happy when they win an oscar, but seem slightly less enthused when winning an award given out by black organisations? Its like everything needs the white establishments'' stamp of approval in entertainment / general life otherwise it is not up to par...puzzled...

  • LMaooo Gooorl this happens soooo much its annoying its actually happening right now in a way with beyonce lady gaga n brit spears they all released singles but beyonce is the only ones who is not performing at the level someone of her status should be doing and blacks are basically saying her music was worse than the other 2 which we know thats not the case but its like she gotta be so much better lol

  • i think members of the NPHC should be judges for future step shows

  • I think the aka's were better to.

  • i agree

  • Alot of your points were VERY VALID. Getting a pass on the first go around, sticking together, etc. AKA's do need to STOP with the hair shaking in competitions where other nationalities are competing. It does not impress ANYONE.

With that said, HAS A WHITE FRAT EVER WON AGAINST THE BLACK FRATS? Brothers.........if some thick bald headed Vin Deisel looking white frats were to compete on the scene and drive the sistah wild..........IJS

  • @pinkydivAKA Good point about the frats. I can't wait to see what happens this year.

  • funny. glad i found your channel

  • white women are on a pedestal for certain things and black women are looked down upon for it. I see this happening at my college, lol especially at parties n clubs n stuff. You'll see a white girl wearing some skimpy outfit and she gets comments like " you look so cute, pretty etc.". However, a black girl gets looks like "she looks like a skank, whore, blah blah" for the same outfit. It's not white women' fault this reaction happens though, its just something that I observe.

  • lmao..sensitive. im out doe

    im wastin my time watchin

  • @lolstr89 Yeah, sensitive. This is America. It happens. May have something to do with the history. Yeah, just might.

  • I feel you on this one go ahead and turn purple i might be turning magenta right along with you. Every word you said is the truth even though some peole dn't want to hear.

  • White people stick together????

  • come to europe it's tres chic

  • I'm oh so late. But thank you. The brainwashing has got to stop. It is about the principle.

  • Off topic question: Where do you buy the flowers you wear in your hair? They are Super Cute.

  • @PrincezzMeechie Walmart

  • I see your points. Years ago I was invited to a traditional Kabuki and white people were the performers. The Japanese in the audience were highly offended, they didn't boo but some left and others sneered with disgust.

Why? Maybe they thought the meanings to this form of drama would be lost and treated like a fad losing all it cultural aspects. Black folks on the other hand roll out the welcome mat to trivialize their culture turning it into a fad.

  • I think that is another reason why there performance was refreshing; because they were not a black sorority they weren't bound to those premises that, “oh well only AKA do this” or “oh well, only Deltas do this” and other unspoken rules that you refer to. They just interpreted stepping in their own way and did the best they could. Now for putting white woman on a pedestal I think this is poor example to use to prove that point.

  • @Atlanta Sistah I disagree with your assessment. There was no cutesy dialog that one could barely hear; there was no childishly witty taunts at other sororities; there was no staccato song about the founders. So what was there? Stepping. Straight stepping at a high energy, from beginning to end, with minimal pauses. It was fun and entertaining to watch. After watching their performance and that of the other sororities, I still think they performed the best.

  • hey lady! long time no see. i forgot you made vids for youtube. haven't seen you since the yahoo group fell off.

  • AtlantaSistah, I hear you loud and clear. EVery part of your message has resonated with me. And you can see, just based on the commentary posted on this video, some clearly missed everything that you said.

    Cgirl2020

  • And are SERIOUS???!!! haha if anything white people are suppose to be the CUMBIA race, cause anything we think, preach on, do, befriend, date or say we are looked on as trying to be the "superior" race. and black people are praised when they want to only bring up THEIR race, when they are encouraged to date within their OWN race, when they are prejudice of white people, when they want to be segregated and stick to their culture. Im curious as to why you think you have to be that race.

  • So when are we as women gona stand together on THAT issue to. We should be bringing people together not speaking on driving them apart.

  • i watched them both and loved it! but the white girls stepped way more and i think they deserve to win, but i truly thought both did a great job.

  • Honestly i think you're mad that white people won and not black people, you would have been perfectly okay if the black people were mediacore and the white women were better but the black people still win. Cause after all STEPPING is ya'lls thing right? how dare white women win or step better than the black stepper's, this is THEIR sport. Its sad you have to think of it this way. BTW i think black men would have cheered for the black women just the same. You're just mad cause they praised them

  • First off, i was with you up until this. So they're good at stepping, but theyre white so they're not good enough to recieve a large sum of money becaise this is a traditionally black arena? and only black people are deserving of this kind of prize? i dont get you on this, correct me if im wrong, but i really dont think you would see this any other way even if the white steppers were better than just good, were amazing, but because their white and won over blacks, you'de still be upset.

  • You are on point my sistar w/this video. Are you familiar w/the works of the Dr Frances Cress Welsing & Neely Fuller, & Dr. Marimba Ani? If not you can youtube them.

  • Why are you focusing on $100,000? Somebody had to win it.

  • I'm sorry but I went to an HBCU back in "the day", have seen hundreds of "ole school" step shows and watched both the AKA's and the white Zeta Tau Alpha routines and the Zeta's were hands down the best. It was more crisp, precise, and synchronized and creative with the costumes. I say great and its a credit to our culture that they have taken a liking to it. Congratulations ZTA from an "ole school" African American who went to an HBCU.

  • Dammmm damm, daaaayum Jaaaames!!!!!!

  • I understand what you're saying, and I wholly disagree with your assessment of the step performance. The ZTAs were clean and precise. So, on performance, they definitely won. But, if you are much more about originality, how can you praise the AKAs? Rhythm Nation's been done. Not original. So to your points about "been done before," I would say impression is the sincerest form of flattery. I think you have a good point about the rules. Step is about tradition, and they gotta know that.

  • WE are the small minded ones and are easily complacent. To truly own something is to keep progressing or someone will gladly do it for you and profit from it. So I would suggest to my people that if you want to keep it behind closed doors, use more than just a nail. White America is equipped with dead bolts and chain links to ensure you'll give up before you'll ever get through. Again, not their fault. Equality starts with us respecting our OWN culture and protecting it in the same regard.

  • Yes, they were average but to be fair, the rest were as well if not less than. What I saw was precision and energy in the winner's performance that I did not see with the others. When will we as black people stop making a race issue out of everything and simply step the game up? "We" were caught slipping in an area we originated and tend to dominate and got comfortable. Is that a white girl's fault or our own? We set our own stage with mediocrity, they do not. That's the difference.

  • @TheLezBeing So Black folks make an issue of race just for the hell of it? Reallyu? Wow ... sounds interesting. I think not. WSome of us just call it as we see it. Some of us have become "complacent", as you said before and therefore just let shit hapen. i'm not in that category. I'm calling it out. Not asking for you to agree or not. I know it when I see it. As for your assessment of the routines, I disagree. But you are indeed entitled to your opinion. Thanks for weighing in.

  • @AtlantaSistah As we all are. Just saying that race is not always the core of the issue. Sometimes we need to take a step back and look at our own positions. Not saying you or me individually, but as a whole. "We" slacked off on something that "we" originated. White America slipped in and made a profit. Story of our lives! The question is not whether the burglar's out there, it's what can you do to stop him? Homefront should always be the focus.

  • @TheLezBeing Yup the white girls stepped their ass off and did a damn good job but yet its all their hidden agenda to one up black people as always. You people need to get a life.White people are not "out to get you" as you may LOVE to think. Those white girls brung it POINT BLANK PERIOD. you dont like it? well when do you ever like white people succeeding in anything black people "created"

  • AtlantaSis...Im not trying to say you're hating, but your tone comes off that way. Anyway, you appear to be a VERY smart and FINE sistah. I did say FINE,right? For $100000,sorors got to come with it.....just my opinion. I am STILL a huge fan of yours!!!

  • got me listening.

  • Atlantasistah, u got me sayin Wow! I don't know which impresses me more, your deep thinking or your boldness to just put your position on blast like u did. Although I think your position is valid, I think the issue(s) is some what complicated. Those judges may have voted as they did for many different individual reasons. May have. And yeah, as long as blacks are oppressed we need to stick together. But then again, we should expect to get as good or as bad as we give... Keep talkin cause u shore

  • Damn everyone is a bunch of crybabies!!! Im a black man who's mother went to FAMU an all black college!!! get over it!!! Is this blacks folks way of bitchin about the white girls the way white folks bitch about obama????

  • @isiit702 Crybabies??? typical BS response from folks who never get it. That is fine. you are entitled. The Obama situation is a whole other animal. Tell your mother I said hello.

  • Ppl were just like "Ohhh their the best" anytime sum1 white does anything with a lil bit of soul in it rather their gud r not ppl are in awe n shocked I'm not racist i love white ppl n i'm not trying 2 make this just a race thing but its the truth n evry1 knows it.

  • @pryroclasticjazzyj thats a cop out, you're basically sayin white people don't do a job its just white america actin like they do. I know white girls can never come close to anything a black women does. Cause she overcame slavery blah blah blah. Well all women need to respect other women regardless of race. I think EVERY women is strong and has over come alot of things. I think theres women of every race that over came GENDER oppression also.

  • U know what I completely agree with u atlanta u've made another brilliant film yet again thanks 4 putting this up i was unaware of that scandelous performance there was some stealing copycating pretending the whole 9 going on what ashame.

  • Stockholm syndrome - so you're saying that white women are the enemy?

  • @msmarch4 never said white women are the enemy. Did you even listen to the video? Really? Did you? nah .... you couldn't have.

  • @AtlantaSistah "Stockholm syndrome is a psychological shift that occurs in captives when they are threatened gravely but are shown acts of kindness by their captors. Captives who exhibit the syndrome tend to sympathize with and think highly of their captors." wikipedia.... keep reading

  • @msmarch4 Glad you did the research. Hope you have some clarity. I'm always reading. You do the same. Toodles ...

  • I tell you what with $100000 on the line<everybody should have stepped their game up. Stop hating, they were better than the rest,on the REAL.

  • @mbsells Could never hate on another race. Nothing there to hate on. Good try though.

  • After watching a couple of your videos, I am so glad that I am post race.

Don't you see that you limit yourself with these labels. Sure, being "black and proud" feels good, but defining yourself by a so-called 'race" is a false source of confidence...one that will quickly limit you in many ways. Ditto for religion, political party, nationality, gender, etc.

  • @TheGoalSetter I don't limit myself at all. I know my life. Live yours. Being Black and recognizing it with no shame is no way limiting. Thanks for sharing anyway.

  • @TheGoalSetter What kind of crack you smoke so I can get some and sell that shit, lol!!!

  • Sadly, the black crowd (especially the leadership) have been supporting booty shakin' black girls for decades. At 'black' high school football games, the cheerleaders, flag girls, and dance team all booty shake. And if a Beyonce song comes on, all of the black women stand up and booty shake. I don't know whether to clap for their '"I'm proud of my black body" confidence or stuff dollars in their skimpy outfits.

After all this time, it really is just a sad charade of education.

  • I personally don't like when other races try to do things or be apart of things that make our culture what it is. I honestly don't like seeing whites, or hispanics stepping because stepping is a Black culture, it's apart of our history, not there's. I'm not sure they understand the true concept of it.

  • @zunefreakster see this is a perfect example, ice skating is prodimently a white culture thing and other things as well, now if white people were to say we didn't like when other races went into it and succeeded or tried to ice skate, we would be considered racist but black people have THAT pass to be racist? its sickening. PEOPLE should be able to join any sport, or any entertainment factor they want.

  • I just found your videos and i looooove you!!!

  • @blaquebeautiie thank you!

  • Thank you for putting this on blast. When I heard about that, I knew black folk was slippin seriously. I've seen latina's at black step shows, and I was not really cool with that. Primarily becasue they were not better than the blacks, and the audience ate it up, like blind idiots.

  • @Nenendude next time i see a black person getting involved in another cultures "thing" sport, i will tell them i dont like it and they dont deserve to be included in our culture and see what hell black people raise. But you're black so its okay if u say racist ignorant BS like this. get over your damn self.

  • was this the sprite awards you're speaking about?

  • @vrwhitlockable That would be correct.

  • It's ironic when ppl say we need to stick together, other ppl are saying that about us.

The "drop it like it's hot" part was against the rules. But the ZTA's got a pass b/c they're white. The rules stated you were not allowed to do anything sexually suggestive. If AKA's would have done that they would have received a lot of flack.

White women are put on a pedestal for a lot of things.

If the contest was really about stepping AKA's would have won. They were unique. ZTA's did nothing new.

  • My sistas and brothas wake up and realize our history and realize they were taught a lot of our steps instead of creating their own. We created our own from the beginning will create more the future that they will not be able to copy.

  • I agree... the standards should be the same if one of the D9 would have came with the booty roll mess it would not have been accepted, but since it was ZTA it was considered new. Since I treat all people the same... they would have gotten booed for stealing the D9 steps. They should not have even made it there because the steps were STOLEN from the originals. The steps they did were from the D9 and at least 10-20 years old.

  • "I can't deal witchyall sometimes."

I'm White...I'm in college...I don't pat zeta's on the back for zeta's...I don't think African American's are the Kumbaya race...I don't think America is a double standard... I don't think life is a game and black people have to learn how to play it by my rules (because it's so easier for me?)...and most importantly, I don't refer to white people- as "Us".

My friends are "Us," my family is "Us," but not white people just because they share my skin color.

  • @secuiritytip1 Oh okay. No one asked you, but I guess you just needed to vent. Not a problem. Thanks for sharing.

  • @secuiritytip1 And yet she will still treat you as the white beast that continues to try to one up black people boo hoo. i agree with you SISTAH haha =) and not cause your white but because your RIGHT lmao

  • Racism is the name of the game,

You couldn't escape that if you was David Blaine.

  • Where are u at gurl ?i miss ur video's!!

  • @TylaJeanay1 LOL! I'll have something up by the end of he week.

  • This may have been the 3rd or 4th time that I have seen stepping. I looked at the video of the ZTA stepping and I really thought that they were good. But I blame the audience for ZTA winning. The audience cheered them on like they were the greatest and then booed them when they won. So two faced. I think the judges judged according to the response of the audience. Personally I need to research what stepping is all about. You know a movie will probably be made about this.

  • Hi my sista, I'm from the old school where we always work hard and so what is right and I agree with you about the winners of the step show, I watch it and all they done is what we been doing for years. I attended Ms. Valley one of the few black college here in Ms. and nothing they done was new and what makes me angry is that when we done the steps and brought it back here on the coast they thought it was about gang stuff now looking at them doing it now they going to make it their steps not our

  • I hear ya sista...when white people do anything we do (as black people) niccas clap and applaud like its the best damn things that ever happened....niccas love to be embraced by white people...but hey to each his own

  • Sistah I feel you on this. I agree with your points. We as a race have to learn to really stick together and celebrate one another. ZTA was pretty good but I was thinking the same thing. This is steps we have seen before. Like you said they put everyones steps in their routine a big no no. But I definitely agree with you a 150 percent...by the way don't leave us, don't get one of those Tina Turner wigs and accent(LOL) we would miss your wonderful insight.

    Peace

  • sexually suggestive moves should have got them disqualified...and also there were no black greeks judging...just luda and some celebrities. Frankly, I think if you throw that out the white girls crushed everyone...straight up...the A.kas should have actually stepped and stopped primping...it really wasn't even close. I've been to a ton of step shows and they got eminem'd...I bet the ladies come stornger next year

  • I agree with your points made in the video. Just for the record, that ZTA chapter has been stepping in shows at the Univ. of Arkansas (Fayetteville) campus for about 16yrs (never won though) and was originally invited (16yrs ago) by the AKAs on that campus to step. That AKA chapter taught that ZTA chapter how to step in their first show back in the day.

  • Oh my! This is exactly how I felt/feel about the situation! As a Black Greek I know who the obvious winner is! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  • The main thing that disturbed me was that the majority of people commenting who identified themselves as black, gave praise to ZTA..But so many whites who commented scolded all black people for being racists.

Most white people read a few comments and generalized that we all felt the same way

  • I only disagree w you about the double standard..Yes the audience was excited alot b/c they were white..But don't we get excited when we encounter an successfully black entreprenuer ( not related to music) like in the computer field..or a black doctor or lawyer who has it going on..o know I get more excited over seeing a black high school student who's on the honor role vs a white one..That's double standard too

  • @krazylikethatglue

I don't get excited over seeing Black folks in those fields or on the honor role. It is common in my neck of the woods.

  • @AtlantaSistah

I mean versus a white student..Ok let's use the student as the example cuz black doctors and lawyers aren't quite as rare.. Keepin it real.. These days, if I encounter a black male high school student who is a book worm and gets straight A's, I am impressed. If I come across a white student book worm who makes good grades, it seems ordinary

  • I've watched the vids of both ladies and for a while I thought they were both awesome. Btw.. I'm not an expert on stepping, I just know that I like what I see. But after seriously thinking about it and analysing as best I can, I think the AKAs were alot better

  • I agree with you on your points. I think that the AKAs performance was better and more like traditional stepping (I'm not a greek BTW so no bias here). Off the subject though, I love your hair flowers. Do you make them yourself or purchase them somewhere?

  • stop sounding like swp when he was leaving! You bet not leave no black folk wit no Tina weave..., but I feel you, I just watched the damn step show

and them white girls were on the borderline between aight and good. Not 100K worthy.

But we tend to give our money to white folks in one way or another. Shameful as it is. Annoying asi it is.

  • This went on at the Apollo as well. You ever been to NYC? Amateur night at the Apollo speaks to exactly what you are commenting on.

Amateur Night at the Apollo a couple years ago-all of these of amazing dancers there-sistas. When this Japanese girl came out, regurgitating the same moves that Black women were doing about 4, 5 years ago-she got so many props and won the show.

Percy Sutton would not have been pleased, because she wasn't that good. No soul, just regurgitation. But she won.

    ?

  • Word Up!

  • It is true especially are own trivialising it.

  • liked the video alot......you spoke the truth, i can dig it

  • You not going the Tina turner route. You don't eat your meat raw. With us, you have to laugh to keep from crying sis. You know the origins of it, just let it ride until its all over.

  • We are always the Kumbayah race and suffer from Stockholm Syndrome. And in the end we get crapped on.

Also, if you want to talk about what happens when corporations get involved in things the black community initiated, take a look at what happened to hip-hop. Once upon a time it was an art form. Now it's dead and gone and was replaced by an impostor. There's no soul in it and after watching what happened with this Sprite step show, that's the way step will probably go.

  • You had my attention until 05:50 - your 'brothers' we're jumped up pretty much the entire video. Clicked off... to bad, I really thought you'd had a proper point.

  • @AntonySastre

Glad to hear you clicked off. That way I will not hear from you again. toodles!

  • The Williams sisters entered a white sport and won. Deal with it.

  • @firemarshall007

Tennis is a sport based on point accumulation, not opinion. Get a clue and another example.

  • Yeah but its still an activity invented by Europeans. And the Zetas obviously won. Thats why you heard the "ooohs" and "AAAHS" in the background. Stop being jealous of white women. Youre very insecure. Black women enter beauty contests, is that a good example

  • @firemarshall007

LOL! How easy it is for a loser such as yourself to even think a Black woman could be jealous of white women. I spoke on that in the video. Never , ever ... but good, yet boring try. Yawn ...

  • @firemarshall007

yes, the beauty contest would be a better example. How long did it take for the first Black woman to be crowned Miss America?

  • As long as it should, black women arent beautiful so it shouldnt have happened at all. They only did it because black women would have a fit if they didnt choose one. Most black men prefer other races.

  • @firemarshall007

Hmph ... is crack your drug of choice? Of course it. So sad ... I guess you are trying to bait a conversation on BW being beautiful. I need not argue that point. I see it everyday. Especially when I look in the mirror. Be gone fool. Light up!

  • LOL @ Stockholm Syndrome. So true though that it's sad. And I love the kumbaya race statement.

On another note, Chili and Monica said they chose AKA Tau Chapter to win according to others who heard them on the radio in Atlanta..

And I agree that as black people we have to excel in order to be accepted.

Also, the booty shake is a violation of the gyrating/sexually explicit moves rule. Yet the ZTAs got away with it.

  • ATLSistah...1. Yo look radiant! 2. The Tina Turner bit..I LMAO because I just made a comment like that the other day. 3. Yes Stockhol Syndrome is in full effect. IMO The AKAs were better. ZTA won because they were good mimics...If ZTA was DST, there wouldn't be all this commotion. Good video!

  • Athough her comment seemed to go on and on. She said exactly what I was thinking when I watched these girls step. They were good, no doubt about it. But just like Elvis, The Beatles and other white artists who have taken a predominately black american phenomena and been pushed to a role of "super-stardom," blacks sit back and say nothing. Not only that but then they're so impressed by a white persons ability to mimic something that comes naturally to them. Its sad!

  • Comment removed

  • I watched both videos and I hate to admit it but I thought the yt girls were more entertaining even though both of them were not as good as I remember the step show acts being. I was really bored watching the runner ups (now co-champions) and all the yt girls did was recycle a whole lot of other moves I've already seen b4 but it was a helluva lot easier to get through than the other one but that doesn't say much. I hope all the others teams bring it up a few notches because this was subpar

  • I think this sistah is really hung up on the color of her skin. She talks about her "own people" and "blacks" and "putting white women on a pedestal".

Just imagine if this was a white boy with a southern accent and change the word black to white and vice versa. This is nothing more than a racist rant!!

Call it like I see it!

  • @veritastube

Call it what you want. I couldn't care less. You have me confused for someone who gives a damn. I stand by my video and my assessment. It is quite clear and simple. You are allowed your opinion. Thanks for sharing.

  • The Zeta's were average, but the rest of the sororities couldn't even step up to average.

And what is the matter with being the morale compass of the country?

    LOL at your haterade...

  • @MatlasX

Hater of whom exactly? I could never be a hater. This is America, honey. Nothing to hate on. You can go ahead and be a shuffling head bowing morale compass. I got other shit to do. Good luck to you.

  • LOL at you whining about white girls not deserving to win, but the brown paper bag sorority (the AKA's) were better in your mind. LOL at your self-hate.

  • @MatlasX

Hmm ... whining? Figures. LOL! You are pure comedy. Thanks for the laughs. As for your lack of knowledge of the AKA's, I suggest you look them up. Check out the founders. Most were dark skin. Stop believing the bullshit hype.

  • There is a lot of hate in you. The facts are, the prize was $100k. They were the best out of the bunch. Therefore, they won. If you have an issue, maybe you should take it up with Sprite for throwing away $100k on a step show.

    Step your game up, sisters.

  • @MatlasX

Damn, you again? Make your own damn video. LOL! Oh yeah, I did take it up with Sprite. So did MANY others. That is why they conceded and gave the AKA's that performed $100,000 too. LOL! Surprise fool!

  • um...i watched the step video and they were OK but um...well...i guess i didnt get why everyone was cheering so hard?? lol hmmmm i agree with the things you said on your video.

  • I am a member of a divine nine frat myself, I graduated from a HBCU and I am glad ZTA won. Black people needed a wake up call. I am tired of going to STEP shows and seeing dance routines with stepping in it. You can get members of the band to do that. Young people get your acts together, stop crying, and get back to basics, so that this does not happen again.

  • @Hismusicianship

So the routine by the Zeta's was not dancing with stepping mixed in??? Did we watch the same video? Oh, I'm sorry. They were white. So that makes it okay. Geesh! Amazing ...

  • Dont mis-understand, i am not a ZTA fan, I dont think they should have won at all. I was speaking in general about all of the step shows i have attended in the last few years.

  • Stop bitching, and do it.

  • It just never occur to you that the white women were actually good? One thing that I love about Black culture is that we respect those that do their proper due. We don't exclude anyone from the competition. We don't try to make rules to have an unfair advantage. We respect those that earn it. I am shocked that it took a Step Show for you to realize a double standard in America. I guess all those black men getting shot by police for no reason wasn't enough for you.

  • @thewise80

Did it ever occur to you to actually LISTEN to the video instead of being so type finger happy to get your point in? Yeah, listen to the video. Might do you some good. And what makes you think it took a step show for me to become aware of the double standard in America??? Stop jumping the gun trying to be a smart ass. Yeah, you ...

  • yeah...talk about a person who DID NOT GET THE POINT! lol oh well, i guess it takes alllllllll kinds! lol

  • Oh, I did painfully so. At 8:20 you emplore "Im confused! What is that about?" Do you not remember what you said? I know that you were just rambling on but your confusion was due to a lack of knowledge. I would like for you to take your own advice and listen to what you said. Take a look at the plank in your own eye first.

  • @thewise80

if it was painful, you should have clicked off. yet, you kept watching. Dumb. This is my video on my channel. I know what I said. Your point? Nothing. I am very much aware of how I feel. I stated it in the video. Nothing more. Carry on ...

  • You know what ZTAs probably doing right now chillin with their white fraternity partners laughing & saying look you girls beat those negros at their own game.... lo & they gave us $100k but black unemployment is through the roof... Them dumb niggers always being so fucking nice to us. Their white college friends are screaming white power. We beat them big booty negros while shake our flat ass.....

Ok cut all the bullshit ZTA's suck & they won because MTV sponsor the bullshit too!

  • @lilrog0909 yup cause thats all us white people do! talk shit about black people and praise eachother! ya'll consume our lives. We love winning over you, ya'll are crazy and fucking deranged! im amazed theyre people like you, while some in the past wanted to overcome racism and segregation you guys now n days encourage it!

  • Brilliant and poignant commentary.

  • *sigh* typical jealous ABW.

  • @ninadesilvia

Jealous of what exactly? Please expound.

  • I dont think any Black person would have any reason to be jealous of a White person.

  • THANK YOU! puh-leese!

  • Do anyone know if these ZTA girls stepped locally in Arkansas, was this their first time? If they didnt participate in step shows in Pine Bluff and other areas. I dont think it is fair and they should have been disqualified. Would these ZTA girls participated in this step show if 100,000 dollars wasnt involved? I seriously doubt it. These step shows are a tradition and should be treated as such.

  • @sweetQTified

I think hey had won a series of step contest which led to them being in the Sprite Step Off.

  • Lots of interesting points raised. Thanks for posting and sharing. You gave me lots to think about.

  • AtlantaSistah, truer words have never been spoken! When you're right, you're right. I can't stand when black folks (mainly, men) want to believe that the ww's world is rounder. The pedestal exists!

Why are we whining when we point it out?

LOL Puple is my favorite color, girl, I know you can work it!

  • I would never silence the dialogue which is why I accepted your video post as a video response to my video. I'm first to point out "brownie points" or priviledge but I think you missed the mark here. Maybe some people think AKAs should have won. I think that's preference. But KNOW, AKAs did an entire intro of JJ's "Rhythm Nation," nothing in step shows is EVER new, and outside of AKAs and ZTAs, no other group came to win $100,000. TRUST ME, I watched ALL performances of night. Now,CARRY ON

  • Tomatoe, tomato, potatoe, potato .. you get the point I am sure. I stand by my assessment of the situtaion. Thanks for weighing in. Carrying on indeed ...

  • @babysdaddyATL with all due respect... PULLLEASE. It was shock that a white team could do that took them over the top. KEEP IT REAL.

  • AKAs did their OWN thing? WHAT?? The entire opening of their show was Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation" - what are you talking about? And going to multiple step shows in my life, steppin' is NEVER nothin' new, it's always borrowed. This was a competition hosted by Sprite. Trust me, outside of the AKAs and ZTAs - no other group came with it to win $100,000. History aside, the best team won. I love the dialogue and will be first to catch when double standards are at play - BUT TRUST, NOT HERE!

  • I see what you are saying. I used to hate to see white ppl. on the Appollo b/c they could be average and win the contest. The audience would give them all kinds claps and everything just for being on there.

  • Not only were the girls who won average they didnt step like the traditional. They were stepping like they were trained by some dudes. They were stepping like the dudes..not feminine like the usual female steppers. AKA should have won.

  • Interesting perspective, very insightful. More people need to watch this and join in on the discussion.

  • classic case of negreos seeking the acceptance of white ppl. you r so right we trivialize our events but know that the white girls won i bet they now feel like the step show has now been validated. alot of bp try so hard to prove that they love white ppl that they will go out of their way to chose them even in the workplace. BW is the most brainwashed of them all. im a bw so i should know! we need to start deprogramming our ppl.

  • $100,000 to Sprite (Coke) is a drop in the bucket for marketing. So much so, they dropped another $100,000 to pay for damage control cause so many *Blacks* upset at white girls winning. TRUST ME, I saw EVERY performance that night and of the sororities that performed that night, the ONLY other group that came with it were the AKAs in second. Even you admitted that the ZTAs were good, even great. Come on...this wasn't just brownie points for white girls. Those girls DID THE DAMN THANG!!!

  • @babysdaddyATL

Correct yourself. I NEVER said they were great. I said good and the average good. Carry on.

  • our race in general has lower standards for other races. It seems like many of us want their approval. The slave mentality still is around. We put everyone on a pedel but our own. Why would I put another race or give another race leeway over my own. They sure as f have never done it for us. The kumaya b.s. is always at the expense of our race. I hate to say it but I think many of us are fkn stupid.

  • @nosimpin1

Shit, you ain't lyin. Black Americans are too damn whitewashed for me. I think that Generation Y and Z black folks are more whitewashed than Generation X and Baby Boomer blacks, and that's real.

  • I can't stand uncle tom white ass-kissing negroes. That's why I separate myself from those that want to accept white acceptance.

  • I think the right group won...repeated steps or not. I was at the show (in BR and ATL) and yeah maybe the TauAKA steps were more creative(at some points) but the energy wasnt there. As far as the 100,000 prize SPRite gave away over 1,000,000+ in prize money to some groups that I wouldnt have given $10 too. People r turning this into a race and gender issue when it is simply a step show cuz I can guarantee if no money was involved NO ONE WOULD GIVE A SHIT. People suck the fun out of everything.

  • @lovesme365

But money was invloved. It is what it is. And no it is not simply a step show. Hence the title of the video. But you are entitled to your opinion. Thanks for sharing.

  • The money is more of a scholarship(icing on the cake) thing. People make it seem like divine 9 were the only greeks who participated and thats not the case ZTA were the only non D9 soro to make from the prelims to the final round and win. I jus think it would have been classier for them(TAUAKA) to bow out and try again next year. Crying and throwing a hissy fit till Sprite gives u a 100,000 too and names u "co-champions isnt really a prize to me." That souldnt feel like a legitimate win.

  • @lovesme365

I don't think the AKA's were throwing a so called hissy fit. I think the public called, emailed and whatever else was necessary on their behalf. Amazing how when Black folks stand up to a corporation and express their grievance, we are whining and having a hissy fit. But when hwite folks do the same thing, they are doing what white folks do by standing together in unity. Wow ...

  • I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Even at the show it was still a mixed reaction from the crowd on the issue. Im all for standing up for our rights when something is foul, but this just didnt qualify OMHO. Great talking w/ you. Peace.

  • (cont'd.)

I understand what u mean about the novelty of the random whites. Such as the case of the white valedictorian of Morehouse or random white kicker's in the SWAC and random bandmembers getting a special skit at the (HBCU) half-time show; but honestly to me its no different than being the only blk ballerina in a broadway musical or the only black team capt in a archery competition its just something about the novelty.

  • thank you finally somebody who makes sense and sees it exactly how i did. zeta's took everything from the black sororities and used it and people where all excited because they were white girls "stepping". finally someone who makes sense and KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. thank you

  • Imagine what whites would say if black girls won an Irish dancing competition, lol.

  • They wouldn't say anything because Black girls would not win. They would have to wait 10 to 20 years to do so.

  • SistahGirl, truer words have never been spoken about the ww monopoly of the "pedestal." Then, when a black person points it out (especially a BW,) we're whining.

Thank you, AtlantaSistah! I was going to watch the stepshow video, but I think I will pass. I don't need to see how black folks think a white girls world is more round. Purple is my favorite color!!!

  • Girl....I knew I wasn't the only one that saw that BS amongst other things for what it was! I'm getting my Tina Turner wig first thing in the morning!

  • DAMN!......$100,000?WTF....For That?....May as well throw the money down the fucking drain!!....lolmfao

  • sounds like someone's just mad at the world..lol...its a stepshow people get over it..

  • @kappa27

Obviously you did not listen to the video. Hence the title ... As far as being mad at the world ... nah ... just mad at uncle tom step and fetchit negroes. Let me know if you need clarification on anything else.

  • Girl you are too funny. I love those long pondering expressions. I crack up during the first 10 seconds of your video. No need for words your expression says it all.

Now, I looked at the video and I saw the routines. I saw black people cheering the white girls because we've always been tickled by white folks who can hand with us! Because what they cheered at was nothing spectacular or different or new. The booty shake at the end was just nasty. Leave to them to throw the 'hoe' move in.

  • The AKA's were way better and more talented. They were tight, raw, & original. They performed complex moves that only STEPP JUDGES would have given credit so I agree with you when you say we should have had judges familiar to the 'step dance'. Also, when they (AKA') stepped on one legged I thought "This should win it for them alone". Just because we see some white folks do what we do doesn't mean they do it better than us. If this were white guys against 'brothers' would this have happened?

  • Also, YES you're absolutely correct when you say that black people (especially guys) give white women passes. They expect less from them & they award them for that...LESS. I'm sick and tired of having to be 200% better just to get acknowledged. It happens everywhere. I'm sick of white girls. They do mediocre work & expect everyone to come running applaud them for it. As a black woman I see that they expect us black women to cater to them as if were mothers & help them but they don't reciprocate.

  • @filmtress

I'm with you. I'm starting to hate white women. These cave bitches get a pass for everything even if it's mediocre. The only white woman that I will praise who's really talented is Teena Marie because she' doesn't have to prove herself to be down with black people. She did it naturally. These other white bitches today are plain fake, and they are only do that so they can get our men. FUCK THESE WHITE BITCHES!

  • @blackloverules

I am more inclined to be upset with the folks that put them on pedestals. Can't blame them for living off the shit.

  • im wit you black loverules, i dont wanna associate with these bp who are trying to gain acceptance more then wp. the community i plan to have in the future will be free of all of them because we have seen to many times in the past the bp who think like that are the ones to cause all our struggle to fail. the are backstabbers and will prove hazardous to the cause

  • DON'T LEAVE US!!!!!!!!!! LMBO! Rollin rollin rollin on a river...

  • I totally agree with you on the double standard. This shit has got to stop.
