Your logic is wrong kid. You only tested if a=1 or a=2. You then go on to say that if you type ANYTHING except 1 it will keep looping. This is not true. ANYTHING except 2 will make it end. It's literally the opposite of what you said. All you need to do to fix this would be.

That way if it doesn't match 1 or 2 it goes back to the beginning.

There are many different ways to do this.

Here is the least amount of code I can think of:

CONTINUED. The second last line of your basic virus would contain a line like this 1151 OPEN 1,8,15, "N:NAME,ID": CLOSE 1. Your final line would contain the C64's reset command. On the Vic this is sys 64802.

The moment he hits run say goodbye to whatever's on that disk. You could tweek this program a little bit by adding some graphics or putting a delay command in between the last two lines. Programs like this could have been uploaded to BBS's too. SABOTAGE

First off I don't endorse the idea of creating viruses. Creating a commodore virus or something like it isn't that hard. What your making is simply a program that repeats itself. To make a virus my choice for recording it would be a tape since Commodores generally don't have hard drives. Secondly there must be a deception. Write a program that looks like a game so that folks will want to load it. Include a line that tells the user to insert a floppy. To be continued.

Learn to DIM multi dimensional string variables, within a few months you'll be writing a text parser and writing text adventure games. I was. Input A$, then search A$ for spaces, and divide it into seperate words. Then search it for VERBS you know, like GO, TAKE, UP, DOWN, DROP, SHOOT, etc. Jump to subrotine, and search rest of the string for an object, like NORTH, SOUTH, BOX, GUN, etc, depending on the verb. Ignore all words your program does not know.

These are just some simple scripts. They work like the so-call CMD batch in Windows. Not a virus, actually. If you want to build a batch scripting virus, you can use Windows. It has more functions than the BASIC Commodore scripts like shutdown, restart, log off, terminate applications, windows bombing, damage Windows installation via deleting HAL.dll (or explorer.exe, boot.ini, bootsect.exe, etc.), automatically open application and execute specific commands (this can be done by VBScript), etc.
