Ah yeah, good technique, but I think you looked at this right after you finished the right eye and realized the rest would have to be off as well. Nice job though. We all try so hard to reach that milestone of drawing from freehand without much else to help with positioning.
Wow this is just amazing! Did you go to a school to learn to draw like this? I draw myself, but never went to any school for that, and I don't get a so perfect result! Congrats!
Wow this is very impressive i wish i could draw portraits ive tried but i cant seem to be able to draw real people only things i can draw are cartoons it can be a cartoon person like Link from Legend of Zelda or Batman or whatever, just cant seem to grasp the art of portraits. any tips would be awesome
what did you use to make his video...i mean i saw this effect many times and i dont now what programme it is....im talking about first 3 seconds of video...by the way i made a beautiful banner here...it looks awesome..i sent you it two times to your mail..(worked on it seven hours)......i dont lie it really took my a lot a time...please check your email and see how awesome it is..:)..!
I'm not gonna lie when i first looked at it i thought it looked really bad and not like your work and then in the blink of an eye it became unbelievably incredible! You have a true gift and talent for art and I hope you never stop drawing and making videos <3 your and inspiration to us all <3
Mad skills and maddening skills for anyone who has ever wanted to pull off a drawing like the ones you do.
Please, a big ass blog post on how and when you started drawing and schools and teachers who've helped you get as good as you are, books you have read. Would love to know how this came about for you.
Just wonderful stuff. Love the feel of your work...
@t2t3456 a good and easy way to measure proportions is by using your pencil as a guide.. put your pencil up to the drawing and size it to the area of the portrait that you are working on.. and if you wanna scale a picture to a larger or smaller size and way to do that is by getting a clear graphing grid and placing it over the picture you wanna draw and then draw larger or smaller squares on your paper to make the picture bigger or smaller and draw whats in each square.. hope this helps..
@xFLASHMAKERx Thanks for your reply…I have used the grid version before, but only when going from small to very large. With smaller drawings, I feel the grid option is like cheating…LOL… Also, Iv'e tried the pencil option but I seem to be to clumsy for this option so I bought a proportional divider. I really wanted to know what method you used as your outcome with Marilyn was awesome. Thanks,
It's good but the shadows on the left side were the same tone of darkness and you made the shadow on her hair darker than the shadow on her left shoulder. Besides than It was fantastic! :)
@turquoise181 I buy my supplies at an art supply store near my home. The things I use are VERY common & cheap, they should be sold at all art supply stores. Try googling searching for art supply stores near you!
The special eraser is called a kneaded eraser, and the other thing is a blending stump! Both very useful!
Awesome!!!! how long did it take you to start drawing portraits like that? I tried a version a marilyn myself... I make a grid as a guide. Im just in my beginning stages.
@PacificPastime LOL I guess i should rephrase my ques.. Yea i know it takes a few hrs to draw one portrait but how much time did it take to draw that good in general.. Did you have have to practice a lot to draw that talented?
@beelieve2 Ohhh hahah sorry I misread your question. Well my first attempt at a realistic portrait was 3 years ago. Back then, I thought my drawings were great but looking at those drawings now I realize I have gotten SO much better. I couldn't have gotten better if I didn't practice as much as I do. And YouTube kind of pushes me to draw more because I like making videos for my subscribers! :]
@PacificPastime Well, im pretty sure you've heard this 1 million times but you are VERY talented. keep it up cause I would like to learn more from you lol.. Thats how i teach myself i jus start watching other youtube art :)
I really do applaud that you are SOOO talented and patient. I wish i could be like that but, nooo my short attention span won't let me. i get bored easily.
@PacificPastime I actually watched your other videos, sorry about the "Tracer" comment. Your actually amazing. I love the Ron Burgundy drawing you did
@EnjoyTheAgony666 Like my old art teacher used to say, tracing isn't cheating. It's just to help. And plus, even if they did trace, they got all the details by themselve.
great stuff.....!!!

Did you use a grid to get the facial proportions to match or did you do it all freehand?
sdegroot1 6 months ago
How do you do so much contrast? Whenever i draw i can't get the blacks to get blacker and the whites to get whiter.
redshark618 6 months ago
@redshark618 You probably need a different pencil. And to get the whites whiter, try using your eraser :) I use a mechanical .7 lead eraser. =)
