That's how they tune, pulling out makes it sharper (more high pitched) and pushing it makes it flatter (low pitched) that's how the headjoint works. Pulling out makes it go higher.

@XCoolMikeX Actually, it's the other way around. Pulling the head joint of a flute out makes the pitch lower (flatter). It's basic sound physics; a longer tube (column, etc.) produces a lower sound.  Try it with a Coke bottle sometime.
