I tell you, this band could turn me to Christianity if my life was lost. At the moment my life isn't lost, thankfully. Religion preys on the weak. I'm sure Christians would say that they pray for the weak.
You pray and worship your God and still this world is full of unimaginable evil. But this evil is not an issue is it? Because there is a divine plan. The bourgeois, middle class can sing and applaud their God in relative comfort because they know where their next meal is coming from.

Good things such as charisma, wealth, comfort, status, and the like are obstacles to knowing the truth. It is to those who are "left out" in this life who have the best chance of seeing their need of something more than this world can offer. Of course, the extreme of poverty can turn one against God as easily as excess of wealth, as the Bible affirms.

This is a really good point. You see rich rock stars fall from fame and wealth suddenly turning to Christianity. The fact that they spent 30 years in ignorant and selfish excess is merely a foot note to them. There is some truth here - and it is ultimately about truth. Personally I'm not convinced in the way that truth is presented to me by Christians. Although I respect peoples' choices.
This is a most beautiful song. Love the voice and the instruments. It has a different flavor. There's a tint of rock with a real fine touch. I would love to have a band this good.
If memory serves me right I thought I read on one of their cd's that Robert Fripp of King Crimson fame had some doings with them. I wonder if Fripp is a christian.

@metalzboy No it's a Chapman Stick (I have one!) The Warr guitar is played a similar way, and having started with the Stick, Trey Gunn is indeed an awesome Warr guitar player.
Iona is defined as "celtic rock" and as such they get inspiration from celtic stories. Chi Rho are two greek letters that abbreviates Christ. It got famous in the Book of Kells, because there's an entire page dedicated just for these two symbols with lots of decorations!
@twotails1967 The drummer is Terl Bryant. He and Nick reunited when John Paul Jones got them together as his touring band, about 10 years ago. Great stuff, both fantastic musicians.
This is my favorite worship song of all time. Being a huge fan of Iona for almost 20 years. They are coming back to play in the US after 14 years. I will not miss them. Great video. Love to see Jo and Dave with Terl and Nick. Sax solo at the end is haunting! thanks Jaap!!!
Every Christian artist/group should follow Iona's lead - sing about things that matter and don't be ashamed of the God we love, as so many so-called Christian artists seem to be! Checkout Phil Keaggy and Michael Card also (if there are any poor souls that do not know about them!).
I can't stand CCM music, but I always been fan of Iona. It is inteliigent beautiful music. They should have been marketed mainstream along side Enya and not be known as the Christian Enya.
CCM is a stinking corporate joke...Comparing Iona to ANY of today's "Christian" artists is like comparing Mozart to a beer belch...The only Musical group I would even compare to Iona is Eden's Bridge, which is another excellent Christian band...And considering the two have had common musicians, it is no wonder that they stand out above the Average CCM group.
Give eden's bridge a try if you haven't heard them...
Great song, Joanna Hogg has a great voice, remember that the gospel first and foremost reached Britain, that was already as early as before 50 AD! And from Britain the gospel spread over Europe. Chi-Rho = Jesus Christ.

I agree, although my absolute favorite is "Inside My Heart". Wish I could find that on You Tube. But "Chi-Rho" is one of my favorites from The Book of Kells, along with "Kells."

This is a really good point. You see rich rock stars fall from fame and wealth suddenly turning to Christianity.
