  • was this before Victoria?

  • sad, that Larry did not show up for finale or view special

  • I remember Dr. Craig, Larry Wolek, Vinnie...all those characters. Kind of sad to look back and realize how much time has passed.

  • @NottaVictim How and when did the producers let Larry go from the show. I take it, it was the producer's decision. I didnt see Michael Storm pop up anywhere else after OLTL.

And also Jenny/Brad how did it end for them, so long ago, i forget.

  • I clicked on this video cause the guy kind of looked like Todd to me on the preview images. This makes me wonder how OLTL will look like 42 years from now. Jk.

  • Apollo 11. Wow.

  • @downwithapathy

    I agree, wow!

  • rip anna aka doris belack

  • is there a website i can watch all of the beginning episodes

  • This is crazy. I remember all of this. so great to see it all again. Victor! Ahhhhhhhhhhh Merry and Larry! Ana! Joe! WOW

  • ABC rarely saved color videotapes of their soap operas- when they DID save episodes, they were usually transferred to black and white kinescope film (cheaper and easier to store than bulkier 2 inch video reels), originally sent to affiliates for "delayed broadcast" purposes [that is, those who couldn't carry "ONE LIFE TO LIVE" at 3:30pm(et)].

  • @fromthesidelines I thought by this time tape delays were in color...that pretty much every network affiliate had the capacity to air color tape/film.

  • Wow, one of MS first scenes as Larry (He took over from his brother, JS)! Finally I see a eps from pre-1976!

  • Wish they would show some old Niki Smith clips. They were really something to see.

  • I actually liked the original Viki played by I think by Gillian Spencer. She also played an awesome Niki Smith; better than Erika Slezak. No offense to Erika but it was true.

  • I liked the actress who played Meredith! Natural beauty, soft, easy acting style. What was the reason they killed her off? DId she land on another soap after this?

Wonder if some of the shows had gone back to half hour they could have been saved. I guess in 2-3 years they will all be gone - darn.

  • @dtw1958 The producers of OLTL stated that killing off Meredith was one of the biggest mistakes they ever made.

  • @bluenail03 Never knew they admitted that but I know at the time I felt terrible to lose that beautiful character----beautiful inside and out. I felt she was vital to that show;especially being Viki's sister.

  • @calalilygirl Yep, they admitted it. They also admitted tha they made a big mistake by killing Victor too.

  • @bluenail03 Looks like Erika slezak was lucky she survived all those years. Thank-you for that info. I never knew they regretted losing Victor, but he as well . I felt the loss of that character and he was vital to OLTL.. there at the start. they killed him off too soon. they could have had him as a near miss or something. The show as I remember was excellent in 1973-74; especially with the Rachel Farmer/ Larry storyline. I just never liked the appearance of Clint etc. and that clan Good grief!

  • @calalilygirl I agree. Back then they killed off main characters without thinking of the shhow's future. Yes, the Bucahana's signaled the end of OLTL.

  • The actor is Joseph Gallison. He played the role of Tom on OLTL but was best known for his role of Neil Curtis on Days of our lives. He played the town playboy whos best relationship was with Liz Chandler. They married and had a baby Noel. They eventually left town. He also played Bill Matthews on Another World for several years in the 1960s. Then he played on Return to Peyton Place for its short run.

  • Wasn't Cathy jealous of Meredith and tried posioning her tea, but to no avail. Cathy had drug problems.

Same time as the AW Lee Randolph storyline who died of her own overdose and she was very jealous of Lahoma Lucas and couldnt deal with it.

i was really young 11 but I think that was the case.

  • I watched this during the drug storyline where, was it 'kathy' died? Also didn't Meredith's character die from some posioned tea? Am I right here? This clip is bringing it all back to me.

  • @dtw1958 Meredith hit her head during a robbery at Llanfair and died soon after. i can't think of anyone on OLTL that died of poisoned tea.

  • 6:19 Enters Victor Lord !

  • They are talking about Karen Martin. Totaly different Karen

  • They could have brought Larry back on the 40th Ann week, even if it was to treat Viki following her car accident. Yet another OLTL loss.

  • HEY!!!!! That guy with no memory looks like Brody!!!!!! His Grandpa, maybe????? Come on OLTL writers. Pick up the pace!!!!!!!!

  • Is that Vicki? Oh and I love the commercials...they don't make starch how they used to.

  • @Angel0Martinez No thats Meredith, Vickis sister

  • @Angel0Martinez Yes, there are still spray starches on the market.

  • Gang, answer me this? Ok, later on, did Tom Edwards was found out to be a fraud? I like the early vintage clips better than the the drama with Starr and those folks these days..

  • @Gaylel1 From what I understand they figured out who he was and then Merrie dated him. I THINK I read he was supposed to be illegitimate but they scrapped the idea. I think he was supposed to be Victor's son which would explain the music, BUT the music is interesting for later developments because it seems like he's jealous she's got a guy in his crib. Although, he was nice to him... later.

  • do u have any from 1971 with a young erika slezak

  • @TheDangergirl35 No clips but I saw her then and IMO she does not look that different. IMO her look changed very little over the years.

  • He couldn't stay away from those Karens could he? Any clips of Tim and Jenny?

  • yeah this was around the first man on the moon time. awesome you have this not only for the soap...but for a *VERY important part of history in itself.

  • oh good I got an idea of what Eugenia(the girls mother) looks like now. That's her portrait above the mantel.

  • Dorian took that portrait down in 1976, and it wasn't seen again until 1985, when it seems as though victor put it in his secret room. It's on YouTube...

  • was this James or Michael? It must've been after Larry recovered from the fire BUT he looks more like Jim. I can't tell. Their brothers so there's a close resemblance. How handsome he was too! My mom was 10 when she saw this.

  • @imachildofthe80s8089 Definitely Michael. The 2nd brother. I get so sad when I see Merrie because the actress and her character seems so OLTLish. Like she could have fit into any era. Like she really died! Helped Viki with Tina. Been there for Dan. Helped during Jessicas's kidnapping. Do you know the circumstances around her death? Was it a big deal at the time. Was it hers or the shows decicsion? She was so nice. How did her and Viki interact. Poor Viki, so many tragedies!

  • @shrinefilms1 From what I remember they had a very close and loyal sister relationship. Viki 5 years older and somewhat of a mother figure to Meredith whose Mother had died when she was young--they had the same mother of course. It was a loving relationship. And of course Viki ALWAYS adored her brother-in-law Larry.

  • @imachildofthe80s8089

That's not James Storm. I have the entire Dark Shadows series and he was on it a year after this one aired. I'd know that voice, even though he does resemble his brother.

  • @thedoctorandk9

I may have to correct myself. I'm having trouble loading this video and I'm not sure I'm referring to the right person. When I have time to view the entire episode I'll post about this again. I know very little about OLTL. I did watch briefly when they did the time travel thing. I'm not sure if I'm looking at the correct character.

  • This Tom guys rather a fox! if i was a girl in the 60's, I would've tried to "jump his bones" lol (sorry that's a bad term)

  • the musc they play for victor lord when he walks in scares me lol

  • little did anyone know there was a room behind the bookcase.

  • nope...not for another 17 years that is!

  • 16 sorry

  • Wonderful old footage of OLTL! Wasn't OLTL originally filmed in color? I don't think OLTL was ever filmed in black and white.

  • This must be a kinescope. Who knows where the color tapes went.....

  • it wasn't. It was in color. not sure why this is b/w.

  • Who is the guy with Meredith and does not know who he is?

  • tom edwards.

  • Is this Vicki, at the beginning...?

  • No, its not, its her younger sister Meredith.

  • Okay! Thanks, she resembles Vicki.

  • The actress in the "PRUF" starch ad is Ann Williams. She was Eunice on Search For Tomorrow and Margo on Edge Of Night.

  • OMG! Larry Wolick!!! I miss him on OLTL! Thanks for uploading this vintage clip, it's a few years before my time, but it's cool to see an old episode like this!!

  • It's VICTOR! Oh my God. After everything they have done to his character, it is such a shock to see him alive and on-screen.

  • Yes they have savaged his character. Its nice to see that Victor Lord was not the monstor they made him out to be later on.

  • Yeah he was more snobby and then they just made him a creep over the years and through his deaths.

  • Snobby I can deal with but not the monstor they made him into.

  • yeah I'd take snobby anyday over the monster the later writers turned him into. They should have just left well enough alone.

  • @imachildofthe80s8089 I disagree. So many pedophiles and rapists seem so innocent until their crimes are revealed. i recall when Viki finally realized what Victor had done to her, she wondered if he had done the same thing to Meredith. We'll never know.

  • @imachildofthe80s8089 I agree the writers should have left well enough alone.

  • @ThorneAstor There's an interview with Erika Slezak uploaded to YouTube by user TVLEGENDS and she talks about the character of Victor and how there's the original Victor seen here and then the history rewrite. I recommend the interview!

  • Thank you. I do know of the interview but It's so long I never have a chance to watch it.

  • Thanks for the heads up on the interview. I will watch it.

  • That's right! Ann Wolek was married to Joe Craig, the doctor at Llanview Hospital. Her brothers were Larry and Vinne. And Joe had a daughter named Cathy from his first marriage and Cathy was nothing but trouble. She may have been the character that stole the very first baby on daytime TV.

    You're soaking in it!" Madge!

This was a delight! Thank you.

  • you're a little off. anna was married to Jim Craig. Cathy Craig was Joe's second wife and they had a daughter named Megan, who died in the car accident that put Viki in a coma for months, and yes you're correct, she kidnapped Kevin and I think it very well could have been the first kidnapper on d tv...or at least one of the first. Now kidnapping's way too common on there.

  • @Jeffin90019 I forgot Vinnie was Larry's brother?
