Absolutely *beautiful* revolver. These old S&W's are my favorite revolvers of all time. I've owned a few model 19's over the years when I used to have an FFL and they were always fast selling revolvers with ultra-high quality. I dislike the current S&W's with the internal locking mechanism, as well as the overall design they went to today. I'll take the older design any day.
I still have a model 66 with a 2.5" bbl, which is simply a model 19 in stainless steel. Excellent firearm :)
@controversyking Yes they can. I know a guy who is a FFL licensed gun dealer
And I had him ship it to S&W. I could have had it shipped to S&W from my house and back to my house but didn't want any problems with shipping in case I wasn't home. Not a box you want left on your door step. Yes there are ways to do it yourself.
The model 19 was once the standard sidearm for most law enforcement agencies. I have one as well as the model 586 and 66. S&W always made good guns.
MPIETRO 3000 your question about the gun getting old, well if you take care of it it will last you a life time even more plus the resale vaule on good used S&W guns are good if you go to the right dealer. Get yourself the gun bible that can help you get the right price for any kind of gun you want. I hope this helped you.
I had a Mossberg shotgun and went shootin with my girl in the 90's she had this gun. I hit the beer cans ever time from 50 feet and it was as loud as me shotgun. It is very powerful and accurate in my opinion. Revolvers are very accurate.
this is a vary nice gun thanks for taking the time to make this video. i do have a some questions though is that a 4" barrel and how much wold a revolver like this run me
beautiful gun.. i recently got into revolvers...and purchased a smith 629 w/a 5" barrel ... smith and wesson really knows how to make revolvers... especially those older models... very nice....
I bought mine in 1979. Have kept it in a handle type pistol case lined with fleece or some other cotton type breathable material. Keep it well oiled or spray occasionally with WD-40 type lubricant and rust will not be an issue even if you live on the ocean...
Beautiful piece. I have the 2 1/2 inch barrel version on here. I love the lines of this model the best. Gloves are a smart move.....don't let anyone tease you, lol. Thanks for showing these guns. Really nice to see!
@TheBassGuitarist1 Yes. I use some type of lubricate that is better than oil and more of a paste and doesn't damage the wood. I'm all out of it and don't remember the name. But I do still oil underneath. When I first got it there was rust underneath the grips. Sweat from your hands and oils from your hands still make there way under. I only use the gloves while I clean it and store it away. I don't use gloves when I shoot it.
S&W M19 4", with same K -frame as M17 .22 Masterpiece. How small the score is, depents the shooter's qualificiations. These models of K- frame guns are suitable for serious game shooting.
Beautiful handgun: I much prefer the older versions over the newer ones. I like the way the shell ejector shroud doesn't cover the entire barrel like it does on the new ones. I hope I can find one of those in 3 years.
any thoughts on the cold blue, I see larry potterfield use it in his vids. I have a small bottle of g-96 liquid blue. I only have a 1/4 in of wear on the end of the barrel from the holster wear. I dont want to discolor the pistol. It looks great the way it is.
@marvintheboon The holster will wear off the re-blue, its just a beauty mark on a well loved gun.The holstering of the gun will keep the rust off. I have guns with the same wear that are 25 years old and look great.
how much effort did you have to put into prying the grips apart. I am afraid of messing my perfect grips up. I took the screw out and didn't go any further. I tapped it on my palm, but im not going to shove a srewdriver between the grips.
@marvintheboon Shouldnt take much effort at all. I mean they maybe tight but I usually can get it apart with just my fingers or finger nails. If I can I'll see if I can do a video and see how hard it really is.
@MrJayson1464 you know, two months later, I see I never let you know what happened with the grips on my model 19. the grips just popped off when I pulled a little harder. I just didn't want to pull too hard until I knew there wasn't something else holding them together. I put the hogue grips on with no incidents. The gun looks beautiful. I just put up a vid last night with my 8 handguns for 2010, and it is near the end of the vid, if you want to see it.
@marvintheboon Sorry been swamped. Work babies and no money coming in. Had to sell a bunch of guns, excluding this one. Sucks. That's what women and kids can do to this hobby.
@44magnum100 I urge you to do something to inhibit the rust, but I suggest rem-oil, the wd-40 will eat up the grips, the rem-oil is a little more wood friendly.
I have one just like that, that my dad bought new, I need to get it re blued but other than that it's great, my favorite thing about it is it has hardly any recoil, even with real hot .357 magnum rounds. I love it!
i have a 19-3 my grandpa bought brand new, he only shot it once. So its in like-new condition, and it is very accurate and easy to shoot! what 19-x is this one, or it it thee original?
Ah I"m so jealous of you. The day I turn 21 I'm getting my permit. Talking to an old shooter he said in the 1980's his son got a concealed carry permit at 16. Again I"m jealous.

This is no BS.
With my previously mentioned M19 w/4" bbl., at the old Daytona public range in '77, I put 4 out of 6 on a paper plate at 100 yards.
No bags, 2 handed hold, forearms on bench, stock target sights.
Waaaah, Piss, Moan, Sniffle...
I miss it and want to get another.
Donations much appreciated.
Thanks a Bunch.

I had that same model ,only Pre-Brit with the pinned barrel and the High Gloss deep blue finish with slightly different wood grips.
I kick myself in the ass at least once a year for selling it.
S&W ought to bring that spec. back in their Classic series.
They'd only sell about a gazillion of them.
Gmissile 8 months ago
My fiance had a nice ported M19 that was a dash 3 model. She named it Dante due to the inferno of a muzzle blast that came out of the ports.

this gun is quite underrated for its major load of ass kicking.
