I've heard some rumours about a '3D' version of Titanic, and I guess I should let you all know this is FALSE. I recieved an email from Universal Pictures who have informed me that while they are indeed developing the technology for three dimensional cinema, this in fact won't be ready until 2015 at the earliest. Also when '3D' does exist, they have said they have no plans to re-film Titanic out of respect for Jack and Rose, as they feel it would be unfair to cast actors to play real people.
I will admit, however, that James Cameron could've gotten the names Jack and Rose from the real passenger list, but Jack Dawson and Rose Bukater are both fictional characters in a love story written by James Cameron.
Bruce or.. Ismay as you know him as is no coward.. he is a hero! he saved many people that day, helping women and children and even shouting out asking "are there any women and children still on board this ship!" no one awanserd so he saved himself just like all the other people on that ship.... james cameron didn't know a single thing about titanic... and just assumed this, he has ruined a man's honor!

But we love the idea of her being "united" with Jack again in the next life, and interpreted that scene as her death and journey to the beyond. All characters standing on the greeting Rose on the ship, where all people who went down when the great ship sang, so "death" seems like a decent interpretation.

James Cameron also wrote and made a movie called Avatar that came out a few years ago. But yeah, I was referring to the 1997 Titanic movie. Cameron came up with a fictional story with bits of history along the way:)

@thegreatkenz Hi thegreatkenz, although it is comonly believed that James Cameron was a 'director' on board the Titanic, in actual fact this confusion is caused by the FICTITIOUS character 'James Cameron' who appears in the film. In the film he appears at the first class table when Jack joins Rose for dinner, and is introduced as 'The Director of the ship'. It is probable that there was a real person on board the ship with a similar name, but it is not the same person.

I dont know why everyone is insisting that Rose was a real person...the old woman in the movie was NOT her. Her name was Gloria Stuart, she was best known for her roles as Claude Rains' sweetheart in The Invisible Man in 1933, was a founding member of the Screen Actor's Guild and recieved her first Academy award because of Titanic...nothing more. Rose & Jack Dawson we're not real people- there was a James Dawson but not a Rose or Jack. Rose is NOT on the Titanic survivor list, they did base the character on a wealthy family. Old Rose was played by Gloria Stuart who died when she was 100- she was around 82 when she played the character Rose.

tobyoho, "old rose" is gloria stewart, an actress. I am not saying you are not related to the character rose was based upon, but that most deffinately is not her on screen. look it up on imdb, or look at the credits at the end of the film. And I highly doubt that you were on the Titanic, and that your grandmother (aka "rose" ) was also there. It is in poor taste to make light of such a situation, as many people died that night, and in other shipwrecks.

You need to stop being such a jerk off. ROSE isn't real, she's a fictional character. Rose Dawson and Jack Dawson were never on that ship, and to be joking about such a thing as the sinking of the Titanic is just stupid and cruel. A lot of people were lost. To try and make us all believe that "Rose" ever existed, and that your her grandson is absolutely terrible. I don't think you even understand what happened that night, and how absolutely horrifying it must have been for everyone who WAS there

He never said that Rose died. He said it was up to the audience to decide.
But we love the idea of her being "united" with Jack again in the next life, and interpreted that scene as her death and journey to the beyond. All characters standing on the greeting Rose on the ship, where all people who went down when the great ship sang, so "death" seems like a decent interpretation.
