My dad had a 2200HLS Princess 2 when I was younger. It was a smooth and comfortable car (the only transverse straight 6). I loved diving it, it was much better than my Cortina. The Princess was bad mouthed at the time because it was fashionable to, and too many in this country can't think for themselves.
@JBofBrisbane The X6 had been replaced by the P76 which itself was about to be discontinued by the time the other ADO17 cars been replaced elsewhere by the ADO 71 (Princess) range. The engine itself (E6) was a 6 cylinder development of the 4 cylinder E-series BMC/BLMC engine for the Maxi and Allegro ranges. It may not have been the most powerful, but it was a beautifully smooth engine.

I had one of these, a 2.0 HLS. nowhere near as bad as people said, very comfortable and not bad on fuel.mechanically I had no trouble with it, but it expired at age 16 due to corrosion issues
No way why trade in a Princess for a crappy Korean car i heard recently that someone has put a Mint Rover 3500 in the scrapage scheme and a Bond Equipe GT4S nearly got traded for a Kia Picanto what.
@MasterBattle2000 I agree 100%. It's because cars like the Princess were designed by men with pens and paper. Now cars are all designed by computers & every one looks like a bloated metallic potato on wheels.
Your right but now cars have to be like bloated potatoes back when the Princess was in production seat belts weren't complusory even though it intrroduced the seat belt warning light back then cars were boxes with some streamlining and were not safe in a crash but now there is no effort put into anything created today
I think they look better than an Alfa, I think Alfas of the 60/70/80s were horribly bland heaps of shit. Im not a particular fan of wedges but I like them more than overrated Italian stuff!
I would prefer this car over any Jag, Merc, oder BMW, no other car has an
inline 6 Engine front drive system

@tomcat72uk - Google "Leyland Australia Austin X6" - I think they had the 2.2-litre transverse six before the Princess.

I think that old cars look so much better then all the modern crap we buy now like astras and other dreary nonsense
MasterBattle2000 2 years ago 5
Absolutely. Would you rather have a Hyundai i10?
rovamota 2 years ago
never mind Astras, what about these ugly vulgar, brash, macho 4X4 ..................don't get me started
dimgwalltameiben 2 years ago
And those i didn't want to describe every modern vehicle or you would be here till 2100

@MasterBattle2000 My parents have given me the old Wolseley Hornet and I wouldn't have it any other way.
If the old cars still work, why join the rat race and buy a new car every three years?

It does like quite stylish from some angles. Kind of like an Alfa from the front.
