I am Afrikaans and my wife is English South African, our little boy is almost 3 years old now. We only speak English at home and I now very rarely speak any Afrikaans anymore. Long story short. Our little boy bluntly refuses to learn any Afrikaans and simply stares at me when I try to teach him Afrikaans. I think that he thinks that I am making the sounds up and Dadda must be going crazy when he is making those weird sounds, thus the blank stares.
Nederlanders leren het Afrikaans snel lijkt veel op elkaar. Het Afrikaans is ook van nederlandse origine!
