Hi everyone, i'll maybe appear stupid, but i just started looking for guitar amp sims and i want to know ... what do i have to do to "install" this, i mean, every thing i downloaded unitl now is .dll files and i still don't know how to run one of these programs.
@FakeYou347 Most of these amp sims cannot be run as a standalone ! So basically you have to copy that dll file into your VST plugin folder (somewhere in program files) and run it from your DAW, by choosing it as an effect on a track. It will then process your dry guitar signal into what you can hear in this video (if you rule at mixing/mastering of course. If you are a beginner it will sound much less convincing, and you will go through a lot of frustration lol). It takes some time !
To use these vst amp sims, how do I connect my guitar to my computer? Are things like a Behringer UCG-102 usb interface needed, or should I connect my guitar directly into the line in of my computer??
Hi! Sounds great. I have LePous Plugins on my iMac and use LA Convolver to get speaker sounds. I also like the LeXtac alot. What speakers and mic was used when creating the IR (Mode 4 speaker IR)?
@Seraphim777961 the plug in has separate releases for PC and Mac, make sure you are using the right one.. on their website they make it clear enough which is which, so just look it up again.
I just downloaded the Lecto, got it running, used it with the g12k and it sounds nothing like your sound. It sound like it has very little gain, like I'm playing through the neck pickup and all sorts of things that aren't metal. I know you're using one more thing - the TSE808. Can you send a safe link on that one for everyone? And one more question - are you using the Kefir or are there more of those "Kefir-sort-of -things"? (got no clue what the Kefir does)
@KayJayHimself Hey, if you're not getting enough gain your guitar level going in to you DAW might be too low. If you don't have a level knob on your interface you should try turn up the "input" knob on lecto or you could turn up the "volume" on the TSE 808 (I put a a link in the description)
Yeah I use kefir, just makes sure you set the mix knob on that to 100%.
@mlhgurkan I use headphones (ath m50) for everything. I'll check the mix on a bunch of different stereo systems but the more I've gotten to know the headphones the less I've needed to do that.
Listen if possible this first attempt on mixing metal music kind like heaven shall burn do in their albums... Better versions will follow soon. ENJOY!
how the fuck do you use this?? i download reaper and so much other shit, yet i dont now how to use this plugin! where do you put it?? some help me please this is fucking annoying
@icemanbenito Hi,first off relax...Ok? good now I dont have reaper I use cubase but it wont matter none.Reaper is just like any other DAW.Put the lecto plug-in in your VST folder on your HD its probably (if your on windows)C:/programfiles/reaper/vst or something similar.Just drag the file into that folder. Now when you start reaper it should see the file you just dragged in,and update its vst plugins list.Note that any of the poulin vst plugins need to be used with cabinet IR's...Good Luck!
Hi- can you (or someone) please help me? Im new to all of this. I use a Mac with Logic with a MOTU interface. How do i load impulses? Do i use Space Designer and just go to load setting? Whats the exact path i need to follow? Also, would it sound better to use a preamp before i input the cable from the guitar to my soundcard- i have a Focusrite Trakmaster Pro? Also, ive heard it sounds even better when using S/PDIF, is that true? And finally, i also have Amplitube and Waves GTR. Cheers. :)
@gosforthguy I have MAC and use something called LA Convolver to load the impuleses (wav files) Some of LePous stuff is not MAx compatible. All the more reason to send him money for his free stuff that blows everything away !!!!
Hi, theres a HUGE difference between the solo'd guitar sound and the final mix and it sounds to me like multiple layers of guitars boosted by something more than that tube screamer plugin. They almost sound reamped. The solo'd sound IS all you get; what you're not telling anyone is how you're getting it to sound so powerful and boosted like in your final mix.
The Lecto is, by far, the best sim I've used, either free or commercial, for slow/doom metal tones. It's also the most natural/real sounding sim I know of.
For giving it a boost, I really like the Ignite TS-999. For cabs, I've got great results w/ a mix of Own Hammer "Mills" and ReCabinet's "Ghandi" and "Tangerine" IRs.
I think LePous is way better than the LeCto. But I dont like the Rectifier in reality. I am more the Marshall type. So I don't think the Lecto can be THE King of (free) amp sims. He's one of the range of rulers...
Does anyone know how to get this to work for Protools 9 on a brand new imac? I downloaded the mac version but then it doesn't show up in any of my inserts on the tracks??
Hey man you always get good tones on Superior Drummer, I was wondering if you're able to move sounds from bfd2 to superior like a snare. Cause I use logic and if run both at the same time, it shits the bed, and also how would i get this guitar program on a mac? or an
@MusicAndHockeyRules I don't know if there's another way, I like to run SD2 with SSD or Addictive Drums and I have to do the same thing, run them at the same time. What helps is if I know exactly what I want I can just print or export the snare to a wav, then remove the vst and import the wav back to the session. Not ideal but my pc can't handle doing anymore. I've also made some gog files of my favorite kicks and snares from each program so i can sound replace another's with drumagog.
@fearcomplexmusic I got a killer setting out of "orange" channel in modern mode.. Boosted with the same OD sim.
with the drive at noon, lows at 10 o'clock, mids at 1 o'clock, and treble at 11 o'clock the resonance setting was the same as yours(if the pic in the video are your settings) and my presence was at noon.
Really grindy and raw sounding It would blend well with this mode and your settings, I think.
@r0kas You need impulse response files, LeCto just emulates the AMP, not the CABINET. You can download free Mesa Boogie IRs and load them with a convolution reverb plugin.
I just tried out the VST for Mac version of this. Wow. Epic. Still waiting for an AU version for Logic but for now, Live does a good job at handling it. Possibly one of the best free amp sims I have found. Recommended for any player who wants a high gain tone without having to mess with too many settings or paying a high price.
I've tried my best with Lecto and I can get it to sound 'Okay' when on it's own, but in any of my mixes with any impulse it just sounds papery, especially the mutes. There seems to be this horrible fizz or darkness that i just can't shake, no matter how many low and hi cuts or notches I do. I know the sims can sound amazing due to the Sneap forums, that's what's so frustrating about them.
Right now I'm really liking the Dirthead amp sim with a few edge impulses and the tse808!
wow! i've been struggling with amp sims, both paid and free, to get a sound i'm happy with that doesn't sound overly fake. it's been hard because even the decent sims sound good clean or medium gain, but for metal they lose the warmth and fullness. this (both in this clip and in just playing around after downloading) is worlds above even the big names like guitar rig, amplitube and overloud. wow. exceptional job.
I seriously cannot even fathom how you achieve such great sound. Here I am, thinking I've got POD Farm all figured out, and then boom! I find your damned video and a free amp sim BEFORE impulse sounds better than my best tone. You're videos are very helpful, thanks so much for posting!
This is my favourite from LePou as of yet. The "vintage" switch sounds very, very awesome with say... a TSE808 tubescreamer in front and a marshall 4x12 impulse behind (kefir loader.) Quad-tracked = epicness. Thanks for everything, fearcomplexmusic, I had no idea one could make great sounding metal guitars with free stuff.
This one is kinda tricky. The other plugins sound great without tweaking. If you don't work a little with this amp, it sounds a little moody. But maybe the actual Dual Rectifier has the same problem :)
Solo track is really good but compared to all your other clips I don't like it as much. It seems like a failed attempt to sound like the Legion plug in. I guess they have some similarities after all, still a good clip
I have just face a big problem when i use the free amp sims just like LECTO.could you please tell me how do you reduce the nosie ?are you use nosie gate or limiter?and could you please suggest me some of them ..thank you very much

Not every amp sim sound good to me (or I can't just tweak it for saisfid sound) , but go try DIRTHEAD, what I know it's quiet old amp sim, but for me sounds very very good.
