  • so much feeling in that screams : 3 love it

  • Wow if only i knew these guys when i was 1. But serouisly, this band has changed my life for the better. I used to listen to that fake mainstream punk shit and i would hate to see myself now if i got into that scene. I truly do owe these guys a favor for making me who i am today.

  • i like the way he dances lol

  • emo is almost the same thing as post-hardcore.

  • 1:04 yes!

  • so i sort of like to imagine that my life will be a bit like this when i get out of high school and the sucky suburbs

  • Can't stop watching this, SO GOOD.

  • "I'M DYING TO TELL YOU I'M DYING"

  • So good. I miss 8 years ago.

  • @flyastarship You miss 2001-2002?

  • @Otakoust

Yeah. Being 16, discovering this, along with a lot of other music.

I didn't mean to make it sound like Cap N' started in 2001...cause that would be of course retarded.

  • @flyastarship I gotcha. Was around the same age (17yrsold) for me back in 2004.

  • i played with cap'n jazz a lot back then.

  • random question but do you know what tuning they used to use?

  • Sorry I never asked them, we just knew when we played with them they were going to destroy us.

  • idk what tuning they used on record, but this video sounds like they used the "out of" tuning.

fuck i wish i could've bin born early enough to see them. sooooooooooooooooooo great.

  • i don't know the tunings for all the songs, but i know a few that victor likes to use--DADF#AE, and FACGCE (from low string to high string, of course). they're both pretty great.

  • thanks a lot man! :) FACGCE , i think thats one american football like using aswell, probably my favorite

  • @profchaos1080 agreed :) pretty damn nice. e a c# g# b e is one of my personal favourites. the tuning used in but the regrets are killing me by a.m

  • well Davey uses open C sometimes for the promise ring songs. so maybe he did the same for cap n jazz

  • it's simple, just start with standard tuning, then after a few songs, just don't tune.

  • The lead singer is by far the coolest guy ever.

  • Why does the bassist ALWAYS stand backwards?

    lol

Man id kill to see these guys

  • I would guess he has stage fright and it helps him cope with it.

  • i was in a band, and played in small clubs like this, and sometimes there are too many people on stage with guitars. you have to stand sideways to fit.

or he could just be shy, i dunno.

  • forget about genres. there is only good music and bad music. this is good music.

  • these guys are also mid-90's!

bands like mineral, sunny day, cap'n jazz

and many others were defining a new kind of music

call it whatever you want, and yes i know those three bands are very different, but they had similar ideas when it came to their music

  • Don't categorize, just listen, as this is music. Enjoy

  • You don't need to compare Cap'n Jazz to other bands, they were amazing anyway. :)

And I love those four guys at the front, all nodding their heads in unison!

  • aslonelyascanbe, you need to gain a better understanding of the english language, and music, before you try to explain what 'emo' music is. What you said does not make any sense whatsoever.

  • gubba gubba gubba hey,

  • turboturboturbo

  • such a great tune

  • it just is.

  • u fagits look on wikipedia for inspiration on what to call emo? u guys are lame as FUCK!!! THIS IS EMO!! not silverstein or even underoath. silverstein is emo-CORE, and underoath is christian metalcore. man, u guys have to get straight on what "emo" is. it's not about the look, or even how quite u are. it's all about the music, the lifestyle.

  • lol. this is so old, but I just hope that you actually gained more understanding about emo in general after 11 months.

because your comments here are stupid as fuck.

  • xXMandyMorphineXx, listen kid, this IS emo. that fagit-ass shit u guys call emo like death cab for cutie, or my chemical romance, is not emo. it's called pussy music. u wouldn't know shit about emo. look at ur username, even that singer sucks ass. silverstein, the get up kids, all those bands were inspired by bands like cap n jazz, mineral, and sunny day real estate. today's emo is called "emocore" or "screamo", that's why it sound hardcore. dumbass

  • Actually, aslonelascanbe, to say that today's "emo" is called "screamo" would be really incorrect. Listen to bands like Saetia, You and I, Usurp Synapse, Hot Cross, and This Day Forward. Those are more what you could call screamo. And the truth is the term "emo" did in-fact derive from "hardcore" punk bands who had a bit of a softer side and wrote more personal, "emo"tional lyrics, much like the peeps in this video.

  • Hello littleevjr

As I read this, I thought of you, then I ead your name.....

  • Its post emo. =P Emos more hardcore.

  • @xXMandyMorphineXx i believe what you think is "emo" is post hardcore

  • Tim Kinsella has some awesome dance moves :)

(Check around the 1 minute mark lol)

  • why do people spend so much time leaving comments about emo, who cares what its charecterized as its good music by cap'n jazz and thats all that matters honestly

  • lol at 'good music.'

  • wtf is the crowd's problem that woulda been awesome to be at

  • God damn looks like some good days . . .

  • im dying to tell you im dying

  • wow, i never thought i would see what capn jazz was like live. yeah technology

  • Before emo was a fashion! Fuck these scene kids who ruined something that was just beautiful. Combining the anger and frustration of punk, what a soulful melody. Now emo is just an insult.

  • SHUTUP

  • Diggin that Reese's shirt

  • I despise so-called "emo," but I'm more than willing to make an exception for Cap'n Jazz.

  • Sadly both of you don't seem to know what real "emo" is.

  • song is so good. I saw the owls a while back....Cap'n Jazz...way better. wish i woulda known of them when they were around.

  • i wana smoke a blunt with cap'njazz

  • damn damn damn this band kicks asssssssss...:D

    i love it

  • It's great that it is listed under the 'sports' category.

  • I'm a weird person.

  • well, it does only make sense. Kinsella's moving around quite a bit.

  • so amazing! best band in the world i<3mike

  • fuck that crowd

  • most unappriciative crowd in history.

  • skaneverdies... you were 9 years old when this show took place. i was there believe it or not. we were not unappreciative at all.

cap'n jazz wasn't nearly the icon that they were now then, but we loved them.

  • You see.

This user is a Ska kid.

at ska shows you move around a lot.

So he/she probably inferred that since the crowd wasn't moving they did not enjoy this.

I wish I could have seen Cap'n Jazz live.

  • inferred? wow, wrong word choice. i get your point though.

  • SERIOUSLY.

  • amazing. amazing. amazing band.

  • awesome. seriously. thanks.

  • i dont neeeed a reeeeeasooooooonnnnnnn

  • I'm dying to tell you I'm dying.
