Wow if only i knew these guys when i was 1. But serouisly, this band has changed my life for the better. I used to listen to that fake mainstream punk shit and i would hate to see myself now if i got into that scene. I truly do owe these guys a favor for making me who i am today.
i don't know the tunings for all the songs, but i know a few that victor likes to use--DADF#AE, and FACGCE (from low string to high string, of course). they're both pretty great.
i was in a band, and played in small clubs like this, and sometimes there are too many people on stage with guitars. you have to stand sideways to fit.
aslonelyascanbe, you need to gain a better understanding of the english language, and music, before you try to explain what 'emo' music is. What you said does not make any sense whatsoever.
u fagits look on wikipedia for inspiration on what to call emo? u guys are lame as FUCK!!! THIS IS EMO!! not silverstein or even underoath. silverstein is emo-CORE, and underoath is christian metalcore. man, u guys have to get straight on what "emo" is. it's not about the look, or even how quite u are. it's all about the music, the lifestyle.
xXMandyMorphineXx, listen kid, this IS emo. that fagit-ass shit u guys call emo like death cab for cutie, or my chemical romance, is not emo. it's called pussy music. u wouldn't know shit about emo. look at ur username, even that singer sucks ass. silverstein, the get up kids, all those bands were inspired by bands like cap n jazz, mineral, and sunny day real estate. today's emo is called "emocore" or "screamo", that's why it sound hardcore. dumbass
Actually, aslonelascanbe, to say that today's "emo" is called "screamo" would be really incorrect. Listen to bands like Saetia, You and I, Usurp Synapse, Hot Cross, and This Day Forward. Those are more what you could call screamo. And the truth is the term "emo" did in-fact derive from "hardcore" punk bands who had a bit of a softer side and wrote more personal, "emo"tional lyrics, much like the peeps in this video.
why do people spend so much time leaving comments about emo, who cares what its charecterized as its good music by cap'n jazz and thats all that matters honestly
Before emo was a fashion! Fuck these scene kids who ruined something that was just beautiful. Combining the anger and frustration of punk, what a soulful melody. Now emo is just an insult.
so much feeling in that screams : 3 love it

@Otakoust
Yeah. Being 16, discovering this, along with a lot of other music.
I didn't mean to make it sound like Cap N' started in 2001...cause that would be of course retarded.
flyastarship 1 year ago
@flyastarship I gotcha. Was around the same age (17yrsold) for me back in 2004.

i played with cap'n jazz a lot back then.
starkweather444 2 years ago 5
random question but do you know what tuning they used to use?
imanassfuker 2 years ago 2
Sorry I never asked them, we just knew when we played with them they were going to destroy us.
starkweather444 2 years ago 5
idk what tuning they used on record, but this video sounds like they used the "out of" tuning.
fuck i wish i could've bin born early enough to see them. sooooooooooooooooooo great.

thanks a lot man! :) FACGCE , i think thats one american football like using aswell, probably my favorite
imanassfuker 2 years ago
@profchaos1080 agreed :) pretty damn nice. e a c# g# b e is one of my personal favourites. the tuning used in but the regrets are killing me by a.m
aphotothesizeofakiss 1 year ago
well Davey uses open C sometimes for the promise ring songs. so maybe he did the same for cap n jazz
goodoljoshbsf 2 years ago
it's simple, just start with standard tuning, then after a few songs, just don't tune.

forget about genres. there is only good music and bad music. this is good music.
yesjakeyes 3 years ago 4
these guys are also mid-90's!
bands like mineral, sunny day, cap'n jazz
and many others were defining a new kind of music
call it whatever you want, and yes i know those three bands are very different, but they had similar ideas when it came to their music
Cann0nFddr17 3 years ago
Don't categorize, just listen, as this is music. Enjoy
PragmaticEncephalon 3 years ago 3
You don't need to compare Cap'n Jazz to other bands, they were amazing anyway. :)
And I love those four guys at the front, all nodding their heads in unison!

You see.

at ska shows you move around a lot.
So he/she probably inferred that since the crowd wasn't moving they did not enjoy this.
