The best version of Bakersfield I have ever heard. I wish the one on the album would be as fast as this one and have the stuff about Buck Owens in it....
Wow! I just stumbled across this by accident and absolutely love it! Guitar solo is freaking awesome and it sounds so ...so....gosh I dunno....I just love it!
I was born in orange county( Huntington Beach) But work keeps me here often...I have been lucky to hang out with these guys at a mutual friends house in santa ana..
Dosent sound like hes fond of it either. Makes for the best jams though. Thats the feeling music comes from, then delivers. Take it or leave it , I love it!
Gnarly this bands Fresh I used to live in Bakersfield now San Diego... I cant believe i never knew this existed... Mike Ness never got enough credit in the scene... Buck Owens Baby...
Im from Bakersfield...and you know what, its home, at times its shit, and other times its also, well shit. But i love it, and trust me, i've been all over the country and seen way worse shitholes than Bakersfield. I dunno that's just my opinion.
I have this on a record! (a vinyl record) it's part of a set of records that were put together from some German record company! It sounds even better on vinyl !!!
Ericenders- The same for me... I got into them in 1988 when Prision Bound came out and never looked at rock and roll the same ever since. The current line-up is the best it has ever been and the musical talent is at it's peak with them. Jonny "Two Bags" is one of the best things that has ever happened to the band along with Charlie Q., Brent Harding, and Danny McGough. Dennis was not a great guitarist by any means, but a great guy. RIP.
well shit, he was a better guitarist then Johnny 2 bags could ever be, plus he had showman ship on stage, he really got into the show. 2 bags, most of the time just stands there and maybe jumps up and down and sways a bit.....not enough action if youre gonna be a SD guitarist.
Great song... Man this rock and roll band just keeps getting better and better every new song that they write. Cannot wait to heat this one on the new record...
Yes, sir, this band just keeps getting better and better with every record that they do. Just when you think that they can't get any better they always step it up and even surprise themselves!
I got into them back in 89. First song I heard from them was Prison Bound and I was floored. I got into their early punk stuff first and was really into it, then when SBHAH came out, I was thought my god this band is amazing, they have such talent and unique sound and its been them for my fave. band ever since! I love the current lineup, except the band hasnt been the same since Dennis passed on....but Johhny "2 bags" is still pretty damn cool.
Bakersfield is a great place to live, but boy can it get pretty damn hot! For example this very night, it is 90 degrees at 10 PM. Aside from the heat, Bakersfield is one of the hardest places out there and we don't take bull from outsiders coming to our town thinking that Bakersfield is a hick town or for some reason they think they are better, because they are from a bigger well known city.
Man can I relate to this song. I got a speeding ticket going 105mph through Bakersfield and had to spend 2 nights there going to court. It SUCKED!!!! I never want to go back.
By the way Buck Owens has a great song called Streets of Bakersfield that's really cool.
I don't blame Bakersfield for my actions. I just never would have realized what an armpit of a town it was if not for them. My Dad say's before the interstate it was a happing little place. But sadly those days are long gone. All I can say is I'll never spend another night there as long as I live if I can help it. ;-)

I never lived in Bakersfield asshat. Apparently you went to CA public schools because you don't read well or you would have caught that in the previous posts ;)
kingjoey left bakersfield because he was tired of getting his ass kicked and feeling like a pussy, so he went were little bitchy attitudes are more accepted.
Keep drinking the Kool-Aid folks, CA needs new suckers to come buy overpriced homes, suck up smoggy air, and get run off the road by drunk celebrities. California is a fucked up place with a bunch of ignorant, pretentious people who are financed up to their eyeballs trying to keep up the "California Dreamin'" lifestyle. AZ has those same assholes in Scottsdale, they make $50K a year and have a house a car payment that eat that up, but at least they can look like they have money ;)
all you "hardasses" dont know shit about bakersfield, if you think you're so much fucking better than us why dont you come down to my neck of the woods and see how fast you get your balls fed to you. pussies.
Born and raised in Southern California, been around the country, wouldn't live anywhere else. Sure it's got it's issues, and sometimes I wonder why I love it so much. When that happens all I have to do is drive on PCH through Malibu or on Mulholland dr. and it's pretty easy to remember
I'm wagering that "Miserable Death" is probably some 14yr old poser from Nebraska. But since you got a problem you can go ahead and pretend you know what CA is about.. just stay away from us with your whining.
really, cuz I grew up in bakersfield till I was 17. I think it's the greatest place on earth. Plus we really do have the best pot.
California sucks. I was born and raised there. You don't realize how messed up the place is until you live somewhere else for awhile. For a state with so many laws, environmental regs, and gun bans, they have the highest crime, the worst pollution, and the most shootings. The state is the biggest form of hypocrisy. Its a beautiful place ruined by politicians, Hollywood, and ignorant morons that yell "Yeah California" in concerts because they are fucktards who can't think on their own.
haha listen to these fucking nancy boy sissies crying about CA... good riddance you weak ass punks, i bet wherever you end up you're gonna try to act all bad ass but in reality you know you aint shit cuz you couldnt even hang in CA... adios muthafuckas..
You think a lot of these "rules and regulations" could be in effect because of all the problems "fucktard"? Don't get me wrong a lot of legislation with CA is fucked and that is whole nuther problem with the gap between science, policy, and the general public.
As for your "tolerating" CA I am completely fine living in areas within driving distance of Morro Bay, Big Sur, Tahoe, the Delta, becuase you will never find areas like that anywhere else in the world, unless you go to chile.
yeah, if the new album sounds anything like this, it very well may end up their best. Gotta love an old school band that does things their way and can still make it happen for themselves. Im sure Mike is no millionaire, but I respect him even more cuz of that alone!
I seriously doubt that, this band has had to work its way in from the ground up, theyve only had one gold record and I would say the only "big" money they make is off of touring.
first of all retard, have you NO education about the music industry? they dont make MILLIONS off CDs. Bands make about 8 cents per CD sold after management, record companies, publishers, lawyers, taxes, recording costs, packaging etc etc (i can go on).
They make their money off TOURING which social d does plenty of. to top it off, they SELL OUT nearly EVERY show. Wether they have had to struggle for 2398293823 years or not...Thats 29382938 years of making MONEY. Im sure he has already topped a mil easy. He's been in this game a long time, im sure he does a little investing after all these years. Saw them 2 nights ago in anaheim..he's sporting some FAT diamond rings now ;) :) kids... *sigh*
i dont know about that. Sex, Love and Rock and Roll had some fast, punky songs and some slower bluesy ones. But that's the way it's always been pretty much since Prison Bound.
ya but the fast ones on sex, love &rr arent fast compared to the white light album with exception of reach for the sky.i also have a live show from last year which has 2 new songs on it and they are both slow and very bluesy.one is called so cal blues and the other is a diamond in the ruff, dnt matter i love it all
this song is just god. Can't believe it's been like 30 years and Mike has never lost a step in his song-writing. Hope the spoken part is on the CD when it comes out.
I can't think of another song that I could relate to more. I ended up in bakersfield after shitty choices. Mike really knows how to crack a hardend soul.
Man. As much as this isn't a bad song, I would really like to see them put out more songs like the ones on White Light, White Heat, White Trash. That was their most stunning album, IMO.
this song went from my least favorite to most favorite on the album. gotta love the black chick backround vocals!

Man. As much as this isn't a bad song, I would really like to see them put out more songs like the ones on White Light, White Heat, White Trash. That was their most stunning album, IMO.

Wow, I hope this song is an indication as to how great the next album will be. It's in the vein of the slower "Sex, Love, and Rock n' Roll" songs.
